This is a great opportunity for a confident, hands-on HR Generalist who enjoys making things run well and wants their work to have a visible, practical impact day to day.
You’ll be joining a small HR team with a strong focus on delivering clear, consistent and well-run people processes. Working closely with the Senior HR Manager, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day HR administration and operational workload, helping to ensure HR runs smoothly, communicates clearly and supports managers and employees effectively.

The role will include:

• End-to-end recruitment support, from drafting adverts through to interview coordination, offers and onboarding
• Owning core HR administration and employee records, ensuring accuracy, compliance and confidentiality
• Supporting routine employee relations matters such as sickness absence and standard policy queries
• Supporting monthly payroll preparation (starters, leavers, changes, statutory payments) and benefits administration
• Contributing to HR processes, policies and continuous improvement activity

1- Purpose:

The P&C Business Partner drives the P&C operational effectiveness in Country Offices, facilitates organisational development and change and provides a framework for best people’s practice and quality standards.  The P&C Business Partner also supports the organization in developing and implementing initiatives that encourage diversity, promote equity, and support psychological and physical safety of the workforce.

2- Accountability & Responsibilities:

Operational delivery (40%)

• Provides advice and influences action on P&C global policies, and in collaboration with local P&C Specialists advices on local policies and employment law to staff and management based in COs.
• Supports the review and localisation of P&C policies and embeds best practice, ensuring local needs and culture are reflected.
• Works with CPCO, P&C  team, Global Directors of Country Offices and Logistics Manager to identity and mitigate people related risks in COs and prevent and resolve issues.
• Supports adherence to safety, security and Safeguarding policies and procedures in COs.

Employee Relations and Employee Services (30%)

• Monitors the whistleblowing line and ensures timely action is taken in all complaints received related to COs.
• Oversees and works with P&C and COs management on the prevention and effective resolution of employee relations issues and adherence to disciplinary procedures. Responsible for maintaining confidential records.
• Conducts investigations and liaises with legal firms and/or investigators to resolve ER cases.
• Identifies trends and areas of concerns based on data channels i.e. surveys and exit interviews and proposes and implements remedial actions.
• Acts as one of the systems administrators of the whistleblowing and the anti-terrorism platforms

Quality Assurance (20%)

• Drives efficiency and quality assurance of P&C operational practices in COs by conducting assessments and P&C audits and works with P&C Specialists and Country Directors (CDs) to enhance the employee experience, ensure consistency, continuous improvement and enhance People’s capacity in country.
• Supports CDs to ensure compliance and manage P&C risks as per country risk register and audits’ actions.
• Contributes to the data gathering, analysis and presentation of P&C reports, to enable decision making Identifies trends, proposes actions for improvement and instigates implementation.

Diversity, Equity Inclusion and Accessibility (10%)

• Embeds DEIA approaches in policies and processes, to create a framework that welcomes and supports staff regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, language, ability, status, and location.
• Works with the GDEIC to communicate DEIA strategy and establish measurable goals to track progress.
• Sources, develops and manages trainings and other activities, including the LMS system and the DEIA Week.

3- Scope (geographical and/or functional), Impact and Autonomy

The role has a primary focus on supporting and advising leaderships and coaching P&C specialists and managers on P&C operational needs of Country Offices. It also has a global scope in supporting the advancement of the DEIA agenda with the view of achieving the culture of One Right To Play . Consults the CPCO on complex, unclear or long term impact matters.

4- Leadership and Staff management

Provides technical leadership and coaching to the P&C Specialists in COs (10 plus colleagues), also acts as counsel of CDs and senior staff based in COs on P&C policies and strategic shifts impacting staff. Lead the P&C Global Community of Practice and the Global DEIA Committee (GDEIAC).

5-  Information requirement for decision-making

Identifies areas for improvement and implements P&C solutions in COs to ensure a smooth service is provided. Under the guidance of senior P&C staff, updates and embeds policies, processes and other key P&C initiatives. 

Uses the policy framework, organisational and country strategies to guide priorities. Their action is informed by trends and issues identified as a result of the analysis of People’s data reports, surveys and other sources available to mainstream processes and achieve efficiency in the operation.  Policy changes are to be approved by the CPCO.

6- Innovation and Improvements

The incumbent is expected to proactively recommend improvements to policies, procedures and practices based on international P&C best practices.  Working with P&C specialised colleagues introduces improvements across all areas of P&C including workforce planning, safeguarding and Safety and Security.

7- Relationships & Communications: Internal / External:

Internally works closely with the P&C global team, CDs, HQ Country Operations and Finance on the delivery of P&C annual processes and initiatives that drive improvement and effectiveness. Also, works closely with the GDEIAC to deliver the DEIA activities. Externally the role liaises with legal firms, investigators and networks.

8- Expertise (Certifications / Education, Professional Experience)

• Master’s degree in human resources management, Business Administration, Org Behaviour or related field
• Extensive experience of working at HQ or regional level on an international development organization with representation in low and medium income countries
• Experience in management of HR international operations with thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable local laws, donor requirements in a number of countries with the intention of providing similar employee experience across the board
• Experience in delivering HR services through a business partner model
• Experience advising and training P&C professionals, staff and leadership on employee relations issues and best people management practices
• Proficient in verbal and written English and fluent in French, Arabic or Portuguese is preferred

This is a new and vital role for the Foundation, involving developing our work around employment, which will support British Muslims to access employment and develop their careers in fields in which we are currently under-represented. You will be part of a matrix-working team that will collectively develop this piece of work, so you will not be simply implementing an existing plan; you’ll be there from the start with key input into how this should be designed and implemented.

The Ministry Development Team (MDT) is a team of 45 people which sits within the Archbishops' Council. We are nationally responsible for ensuring that there is a pipeline of lay and ordained ministers together with their terms of service and the development of future and current senior leaders to meet the missional needs of the church. As such we have a key role to play in the delivery of our national Vision and Strategy in which we aspire to be a church which is Jesus Christ shaped and centred.

Our work requires us to work collaboratively with a wide range of stake holders and partners including the 42 Church of England Dioceses, 20 Church of England Theological Colleges, the House and College of Bishops, the College of Cathedral Deans and the College of Archdeacons together with a range of universities and other external bodies. The Assistant Ministry Human Resources (HR) Policy Officer will play a key role in the life of the Ministry Development Team as we work together to support the mission and ministry of the Church of England by supporting the development of the ministerial terms of service and wellbeing portfolio. About the role

The People and Culture Business Partner provides senior operational leadership for employment policy, employee relations, and compliance across staff, volunteers and sessional workers, ensuring that the organisation’s HR frameworks are legally defensible, consistently applied, and aligned with organisational values. The postholder leads on complex ER casework, develops and maintains HR policies, and ensures that redundancy, redeployment and performance management processes are fair, transparent, and compliant with statutory requirements.

The role provides assurance that workforce planning, role design and job evaluation outcomes are legally sound; that recruitment, onboarding, and mobilisation frameworks meet safeguarding and equal opportunities obligations; and that volunteer and sessional worker policies are compliant with Investors in Volunteers and employment law. Key Responsibilities

People strategy - (Approx 40%)

• Operations strategy and ways of working: Work with the CEO and SLT, co-design and implement a robust operations strategy and clear ways of working for effective allocation of team and resources to achieve the organisation's objectives, strengthening further our  principles of deep collaboration, equity and care.

• Equitable recruitment and retention strategy: Building on our existing progress in inclusive hiring, you will work closely with the CEO and SLT to evolve and champion our recruitment and retention strategy. You will continue to refine our processes, ensuring we remain at the forefront of removing access barriers and nurturing a diverse, flourishing, and long-term workforce. You will be responsible for timelining, creating Job Descriptions; advertising strategy and budget; liaise with hiring manager; referencing; offer letters & contracts.

• People development & care: Working closely with the CEO and SLT, contribute to the development and lead on the implementation of training, continuous professional development processes and policies that enable transparency, peer to peer feedback, psychological safety, professional development and empowerment.

• Delivery strategy: Working closely with the Head of Programmes, design and drive a capacity planning strategy for the team across 20+ projects to ensure impact delivery as well as balanced workloads. 

• Cross-cutting principles: Working closely with the CEO, leading internal policy work, you will steward and expand our internal policy framework, ensuring that our established principles of wellbeing, diversity, accessibility, and anti-racism continue to be deeply woven into the fabric of every new and existing policy.

Operational excellence (Approx 30%)

• Systems improvement: Enhance and adjust systems, processes, and best practices to ensure they are flexible enough to respond to the lived realities of a diverse team.

• Digital access: Lead the planning and implementation of IT and digital strategies that facilitate accessible and collaborative remote/hybrid working.

• Compliance and safety: Maintain and communicate health, safety, and security protocols through a lens of collective care and team protection.

• Process standardisation: Working with the CEO and Finance Manager, drive consistency across HR, admin, and finance to reduce cognitive load and administrative friction for the team.

HR & financial administration (Approx 20%)

• HR: 

  • HR Software & data ownership, maintenance and ensuring consistency in colleagues use of the software. 

  • Act as the primary point of contact for HR enquiries, accessibility requests, and leave calculation.

  • Act on behalf of the CEO in handling confidential issues with care and restorative intent & liaising with external HR advisor.

• Financial support: In partnership with our Finance Manager, coordinate confidential finance administration, including payroll, pensions, and audit preparation, ensuring all team members are supported by stable financial operations.

• Resource management: Manage IT and Operations budgets.

• Contract management: Oversee the administration of employment contracts and agreements and NDAs for freelancers, as well as internship placements to ensure fair and clear working agreements.

Executive support & governance (Approx 10% of the time)

• Leadership partnership: Support the SLT in strategic direction, planning, and workforce development so they can focus on fundraising, advocacy and high-level impact work.

Fixed term 12-month contract

About the role:

We are recruiting an Associate Director, Strategic Planning, People & Culture to join the Estates & Facilities (E&F) Strategic Management Office (SMO) on a 12‑month maternity cover.

This is a great opportunity to make a visible impact at a pivotal time, supporting the recalibration of E&F’s flagship Fit for King’s programme and embedding the Estates & Facilities Philosophy. Working with senior leaders, you will help shape the strategic direction of the directorate so that we can deliver a Fit for King’s Estate for the King’s community.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategy & Performance, you will lead the Strategic Planning, People & Culture team and be accountable for effective strategic planning, robust programme oversight, and directorate-level budget planning and risk management. You will take ownership of key strategic initiatives, ensuring appropriate governance, reporting, benefits realisation and change management arrangements are in place. You will work closely with the Senior Director of Strategy & Performance to establish and embed the structures, governance and reporting needed to provide assurance against delivery of the directorate’s strategic plan (the Estates & Facilities Philosophy), with a particular focus on finance, people and internal processes.

As a key member of the SMO leadership team, you will build and maintain trusted relationships across Estates & Facilities and the wider university, bringing clarity to priorities, enabling effective collaboration, and supporting confident, evidence-based decision making.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term 12-month contract or until the return of the substantive post holder (maternity cover).

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1. Strong experience in strategic business planning, with the ability to develop and deliver strategy.
2. Expertise in programme and project management, including establishing governance, managing risks and dependencies, and leading change activity across complex, multi-year programmes.
3. Demonstrable leadership abilities, with experience managing teams and developing high-performing teams.
4. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups all levels of the organisation.
5. Proven experience of building and maintaining effective senior-level relationships with sophisticated influencing/negotiating skills
6. Experience of budget planning and financial oversight of large and complex, including building business cases and balancing risks.
7. Strong analytical skills, with experience in risk management and the use of data to inform strategic decision-making.
8. A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset, with a commitment to high standards of service, innovation and continuous improvement.

Desirable criteria

1. Experience and/or knowledge of the challenges of UK higher education.
2. Change management qualifications and/or experience of implementing cultural change
3. Experience of working in EDI or knowledge of EDI including EDI legislation and issues that may impact workplaces and/or education
