This role is based at our Head Office in Finsbury Park with some flexibility to work from home for one day per week after a successful probation period.

We’re looking for an experienced, people focused HR Adviser (we call this role a People and Culture Adviser at ISHA) to join our small team and play a key role in delivering high quality, generalist HR support across ISHA.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll work closely with managers and colleagues, providing sound advice across the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through to employee relations, performance management, policy implementation and learning & development. You’ll be a trusted adviser, confidently balancing best practice with a pragmatic, solutions focused approach while using sound judgement skills.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join our small, but supportive, People and Culture Team working on all aspects of generalist HR advice and support. You will work closely with the Head of People and Culture in a generalist capacity, to support with continuous improvement across all areas of P&C work, while helping to support and achieve our organisational objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing first-line, advisory support to managers on a wide range of ER matters, including disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence and performance.
• Independently managing ER casework end-to-end, ensuring outcomes are fair, consistent and legally compliant.
• Supporting recruitment and selection activity, including advising on job design and interviews.
• Coordinating onboarding and probation processes, helping new starters feel supported and role-ready from day one.
• Assisting with the development, review and implementation of HR policies and procedures aligned to acas best practice.
• Maintaining accurate HR records and supporting reporting using our HR system, Cezanne.
• Contributing to organisational projects such as wellbeing, engagement, EDI and culture.

Role summary

Orbis UK is delighted to offer the role of HR and Governance Manager, a new position for the charity, as the organisation seeks to grow and build on past successes to reach its target of achieving £10m income in the next 5 years.

This role is critical to supporting a highly performing group of staff and trustees as we seek to transform lives through the prevention and treatment of blindness. This role will sit within the Business Support Team, which is responsible for the day to day running of the organisation and will be crucial in creating a revised HR strategy and ensuring that the organisation’s compliance with key statutory and regulatory requirements are maintained at all times. The successful postholder will work collaboratively with the Director of Finance and Operations to meet these objectives, but also will have a central role in identifying opportunities for growth within the HR and Governance function to ensure that good practice, wellbeing and compliance work hand in hand with one another and is embedded within the ethos of the organisation for the benefit of its staff and, ultimately, our beneficiaries.  

In addition, the successful postholder will work with the Board of Trustees to provide Executive Assistant level support to enable the Board to meet its obligations and to ensure that they can conduct the business of the charity in the most efficient and effective manner. You will be privy to sensitive and confidential information, attending meetings in order to take summary minutes and provide clerking services, including the issuing of papers, monitoring Companies House and Charity Commission requirements and acting as counsel to the Senior Management Team and the Board, where appropriate.

You will line manage and work with the Business Support Administrator, also a new post, that will provide support to you and the wider staff team. The recruitment of both these posts simultaneously provides a unique opportunity to a new postholder to shape this role and set out the strategy for this directorate and take ownership of demonstrable change within the organisation.

We are looking for someone who has a Level 5 CIPD or equivalent qualification with demonstrable experience in supporting and developing a HR strategy and/or working at an EA level working with senior executives across different sectors. We are looking for a detail-driven, people focused individual to become our HR & Payroll Officer. This role will be the go-to person for everything from onboarding new talent to ensuring payroll is running smoothly each month.

Duties include:

· Be the go-to person for all payroll matters, providing clear and helpful answers

· Provide advice and guidance on HR processes and policies

· Maintain employee records, contracts, and compliance with legal requirements

· Be the first point of contact for HR-related queries from staff

· Keeping up to date with employment law and best practices to ensure we're always compliant and fair

The successful candidate should have previous experience of HR; knowledge of payroll is advantageous. An eye for detail and a head for numbers as well as an ability to juggle a range of tasks. You should also be an excellent communication with a warm and approachable style.

We’re looking for a detail-orientated People and Culture Administrator to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of our People and Culture function. This new but vital role is responsible for managing day‑to‑day administrative activities, maintaining accurate and compliant employee records and delivering high‑quality support to employees and

The role is primarily based at the charity office at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, with the requirement to also work from the charity office at Birmingham Women’s Hospital alongside some remote and out of hours working.

Key responsibilities include:
• Providing comprehensive administrative support to the People and Culture Manager
