Betknowmore UK is collaborating with partner organisations to work as part of a wider team, on the delivery of the Armed Forces Gambling Harms Support Network (AFGHSN). The work will include the provision of training and gambling awareness activities, helping to raise and address the subject of harmful gambling. Working and engaging with armed forces support and personnel services, individuals harmed by gambling, their wider network, stakeholders, and other relevant groups within the veteran and active armed forces communities, the aim is to create trained personnel able to support the work of the AFGHSN.​

A key aspect of the role will be working with individuals experiencing gambling harms, requiring an empathetic and compassionate approach and awareness of the complex issues being addressed. A robust management of safeguarding and safe working practices is essential.​

It is essential that you are based within one hour travelling time of London, as extensive travel to London and the UK is expected.

Role Purpose

An armed forces veteran or someone closely involved with the armed forces (a family member for example), the post holder will also have a unique insight on gambling harms, and their impact on health and wellbeing specifically within the military.

The Armed Forces Peer Aid Coordinator will initially prioritise engaging with veterans and military organisations to deliver the AFGHSN training programme, along with gambling awareness activities. The purpose is to upskill key armed forces personnel and those in connected communities, enabling and enhancing their knowledge, skills and confidence to address gambling harms. ​

The second key responsibility is to recruit, train and support Peer Supporters to deliver safe, effective support for individuals and their networks that have been harmed by gambling. It is expected that Peer Supporters will be individuals with ‘lived experience’ of gambling harm themselves or as an ‘affected other’.​

The post holder will work with the Head of Peer Support Services to support the development and maintenance of the systems and structure of the service, ensuring that governance and polices are implemented, safeguarding and safe working practices are strictly adhered to, and a clear understanding established of how the service integrates with other support and treatment networks.​

The AFGHSN Peer Aid team will ensure that the support and working relationships are safe and secure, and the health and wellbeing of all participants is intact. Peer Support will be in a befriending capacity and should be provided with a considered and transparent approach. Other support activities will be developed, such as group support and weekly meet ups.​

Stakeholder management is essential to the role, as is establishing and maintaining relationships within the AFGHSN, alongside confident communication skills to deliver presentations and other promotions within armed forces community, education and health centres to help grow and evolve the service. 

We are especially keen to receive applications from​ individuals with experience of gambling addiction​ and recovery from within the armed service with a minimum of two years abstinence.​

• Work closely with the Wandsworth Learning Disability Partnership Board and ensure Generate Voices members are supported to attend and participate in activities related to this forum.

Job purpose:

There's already a growing rewilding movement across Wales. Increasingly, land managers are looking for ways to incorporate rewilding into their practices, at a time the Welsh Senedd is investigating ways for Wales to meet its net zero and nature recovery commitments. Building on this, you'll help support the development and delivery of a collaborative and locally-led rewilding vision and work to ensure that it is mainstreamed within Welsh Government policy and practice.

In collaboration with key Welsh organisations and stakeholders, develop, research and lead the delivery of evidence-based policy influencing, public affairs and campaigning activities which support the mainstreaming of rewilding into policy and practice in Wales.

Terms and conditions and staff benefits

This is a full-time role at 35 hours per week, but we're open to applications from those looking to work 28 hours or more per week.

The salary is £38k - £45k per annum (depending on relevant experience).

The Hammersmith and Fulham service comprises of one high support hostel and two medium support hostels, housing 24 people experiencing mental ill health who may also have other complex support needs including substance use and offending behaviour or who may present with behaviours which can challenge.

About the role:

The primary role of the project is to enable clients to understand their emotional and mental health needs and manage these effectively. The Project Worker will also support clients to develop their living skills, develop & manage relationships, build social networks and access education, training or employment, by completing comprehensive needs and risk assessments with clients and identifying short-term objectives.

The projects provide support 24 hours a day and are staffed by a Night Concierge and Project Workers, this requires regular weekend working. All work undertaken will be in line with planned support. Staff are responsible for making sure that clients are actively involved in the process and that the support offered is full and holistic.

About you:

• Demonstrable experience of working with people experiencing mental health problems and other complex needs.
• A demonstrable understanding of Mental Health Legislation and how it can be applied.
• A good understanding of safeguarding issues and the ability to undertake comprehensive risk assessments related to this.
• A working knowledge of Housing Management as applied to a residential setting, and an understanding of the rights and responsibilities associated with various forms of tenure including excluded licenses.

You will work closely with colleagues across the Union, including our elected Officer Trustees, to support them to reach more students and deliver key messages. This role is integral to supporting the diverse work the Union does – everything from Activities

Duties and responsibilities

Content Planning

• To assist in the creation of communications and content plans to support the Marketing & Engagement Manager in the delivery of key Union marketing activity, such as Welcome Week and election.
• In partnership with the Marketing & Engagement Manager devise a social schedule to ensure regular, timely and impactful content across these channels
• Build networks with student groups, the Union’s newspaper (Felix) and external partners to develop opportunities for content collaboration
• Utilise student feedback and engagement with Union content to continue to improve and develop our output and channels
• Work with the Student Officer team to promote their public profiles and provide support on their campaigns.
• Stay up to date with what’s happening across the Union, College, the city and wider student movement to stay current and spot positive PR opportunities and content.

Content Creation & Curation

• Ensure timely, relevant and engaging content for Union channels & platforms, including blogs, website, social media and news
• Write, proof and edit a variety of digital communications across the organisation, such as blogs and web content to ensure brand and tone of voice is consistent and correct
• Attend student events to capture photos and videos content to use for marketing purposes and provide live social media coverage to a high standard
• Work with Designer to turn copy into engaging, high quality assets
• Have your finger on the pulse for all latest trends for the student audience and evaluate their feasibility without audiences and available resources
• Be aware of shareable, engaging content, sourcing content from external channels to build an engaged following and boost our content on social media
• Establish and work with student and staff social ambassadors in gathering stories and content

General

• Regularly monitor and report on content to inform improvements and innovations
• Monitor and moderate social posts and comments and respond or escalate in line with the Union’s Crisis Comms plan
• Support key events throughout the year, including Welcome Week and Elections, when necessary
• Proactively work to ensure the Union’s commitment to diversity and inclusion is expressed in all outputs

Essential requirements

• Experience of developing and delivering communications plans campaigns with clear metrics of success
• Solid knowledge of website analytics tools to help monitor and generate useful reports and insights
• Experience in managing content calendars
• Experience of, or strong understanding of, producing web content and an organisation’s social media presence
• Writing copy, editing, and proofreading for online media, demonstrating excellent attention to detail 
• Monitoring the effectiveness of communications activity and able to present appropriate recommendations for improvement and innovation
• Good software knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop)
• Strong understanding of social media channels and their tools
• A passion for social media and keen to learn about new technologies and innovations
• Excellent planning and organisation abilities
• A keen eye for detail, layout and visual styles and experience of working according to brand guidelines
• An engaging writing style and the ability to convey complex messages to a variety of audiences
• Confident working to deadlines and keeping colleagues on top of deadline
• Ability to ensure high standards of work and excellent attention to detail

We are now looking to appoint an Events & Sponsorship Coordinator who will coordinate a strategic events plan that aligns with our objectives, brand, and values, promotes our work to our core audience of leaders, teachers and trainers in the FE and Skills sector and builds strong and lasting relationships with partners and stakeholders.

Your profile

The role will report into the Events & Sponsorship Manager and will be responsible for assisting in coordinating and project managing a varied portfolio of events, including an annual member conference, internal staff events, roundtables, and a range of face-to-face and online events as well as overseeing the ETF’s presence at sector trade shows and conferences, working with the events manager to proactively seek impactful speaking and sponsorship opportunities to help build the profile and raise awareness of our work within the FE and Skills sector, and produce corporate display materials and collateral for events, giving consideration to sustainability, and working closely with the marketing team to ensure brand guidelines are upheld.

This includes through developing a programme of weekly activities and community events – bringing all walks of life together. The GNS in King’s Cross is based in the Hugh Cubitt Community Centre, at the heart of the Priory Green estate’ 

Help on your doorstep is a community-based Islington charity which aims to improve health and well-being for Islington residents.

We are looking for candidates with experience of community development, outreach and volunteer management who can: 

• Work with residents and volunteers to deliver and develop the weekly programme of activities and one-off events

• Lead on the delivery of the Kings Cross Good Neighbours Scheme (GNS), working with local residents, staff and partners to ensure that community participation and wellbeing objectives are met.

• Work with our partners including Peabody Housing Association to build on the strengths of the local community 

• Undertake outreach in the Kings Cross area to raise awareness of the Good Neighbours Scheme and engage with residents 

• Work to address social isolation and support the community through the process of residents working together to design and deliver the project.
