Communications & Community Coordinator

Reports to: Community Engagement Manager
Hours: Full-time, 36.5 hours per week

Purpose of the Role

The Communications & Community Coordinator is responsible for supporting the delivery of member communications, community engagement activities and administrative processes across the organisation.

The role combines content creation, digital communications, CRM administration and community engagement support, helping to ensure members are informed, engaged and connected with the life of the synagogue.

This is a hands-on coordination role focused on delivery and administration rather than communications or marketing strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Communications and Content

• Create and schedule content across WLS social media channels.
• Design and produce newsletters, flyers, posters, brochures and other communication materials using Canva or similar software.
• Draft and distribute member communications, announcements and updates.
• Gather information from departments across WLS and coordinate regular e-bulletins and communications.
• Support the production of service booklets, information sheets and event materials.
• Ensure all communications are accurate, well-presented and consistent with WLS branding and tone of voice.
• Proofread communications and marketing materials.

Website and Digital Channels

• Maintain and update website content.
• Ensure website information remains accurate and current.
• Upload content, images and event information as required.
• Support the monitoring of social media and website engagement, providing basic reports where required.

Membership and Community Engagement Support

• Maintain accurate records within the CRM system.
• Produce reports from the CRM database as required.
• Support membership engagement initiatives and communications.
• Assist with membership administration and monthly membership updates.
• Respond to routine member enquiries and direct enquiries appropriately.
• Provide administrative support to community engagement activities, projects and programmes.

Events and Community Activities

• Support the promotion and administration of community events and programmes.
• Assist with event communications, registrations and attendee information.
• Maintain the communications and events calendar.
• Support photography and content gathering at events where required.
• Assist with the production and distribution of event publicity and promotional materials.

Administration

• Provide administrative support to the Community Engagement Manager and wider Community Engagement Team.
• Answer telephone calls, respond to enquiries and take messages as required.
• Maintain organised records, templates and communication assets.

General Responsibilities

• Positively and professionally represent WLS to members, visitors and the wider community.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments.

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

We are now recruiting the team that will deliver Crisis at Christmas 2026. This unique project mobilises a huge volunteering effort to provide warmth, companionship and vital services in temporary centres across London to people facing homelessness.

Contract: Fixed term contract from 9 September 2026 to 27 February 2027

This role will involve working throughout the Crisis at Christmas project, which runs through from the middle of December to the end of January each year. It will involve working on site through Christmas and New Year.

About the role

This role will involve building relationships with current and new corporate donors to ensure we can resource all the material donations we need to run the Crisis at Christmas centres in London. Each year, we source gift in kind donations ranging from food and beverages to clothing, hairdressing equipment and toiletries. This is a varied role that involves researching donors, communicating with large corporate companies, managing volunteers, and running our yearly community donations drive.

About you

• Previous fundraising, project or event coordination or marketing experience.

• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build relationships with partner organisations and donors at all levels and work collaboratively within a wider team.

• Excellent attention to detail and data processing accuracy with experience of using Microsoft Office software, in particular Word, Excel, and SharePoint.  

• Good organisational and problem-solving skills. You should be able to manage multiple competing priorities and modify plans in response to unexpected complications. 

• A pro-active, positive attitude and willingness to get involved in hands on, manual tasks when required.

You’ll be at the heart of our day-to-day membership operations, helping to ensure our supporters feel valued and well looked after. From maintaining accurate records and processing donations, to assisting with campaigns and communications, your work will help everything run smoothly.

This is also a great opportunity to gain broad experience across fundraising. You’ll work closely with colleagues across membership, individual giving, corporate partnerships and grants - giving you exposure to different areas and the chance to get involved in a variety of projects and campaigns.

What you’ll be doing 

• Provide excellent supporter care by responding to enquiries and building positive relationships
• Maintain and update supporter records in our CRM system (Access CRM), ensuring accuracy at all times
• Support core financial administration for membership income, including donation processing, refunds, and related records management
• Help coordinate mailings, events and member communications
• Provide flexible support across the wider fundraising team, gaining experience in different fundraising areas

What we’re looking for

• Experience in an administrative, customer service or support role (ideally within a charity, fundraising or marketing environment)
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when working with data
• Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
• A genuine interest in fundraising and passion for our mission

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate annual calendar of volunteer training events

 

· Work in partnership with the Volunteer Development Manager to understand volunteer recruitment needs across services and the wider team.

· Liaise with services teams to plan and develop the calendar of volunteer training events, both in person and virtual.

· Manage relationships with training venues ensuring desired dates are secured early in line with event requirements and budgets.

· Proactively research new training venues which meet accessibility requirements.

· Work with team members taking a lead on volunteer training delivery to ensure all training materials are up to date and relevant training packs/goodie boxes are distributed to trainees.

· Liaise with trainees to ensure confirmation paperwork is completed in a timely manner and needs relevant to training are met.

· Keep accurate records and maintain database records to ensure services teams are kept up to date with trainee information and any changes to event attendance.

· Circulate post-training communications to help ensure new volunteers are onboarded in a timely manner.

· Collect and distribute feedback from trainees to ensure quality of delivery is maintained to a high standard.

· Lead, sustain and develop strong and effective working relationships across the Back Up team.

Manage volunteer applications and requests

· Work with Volunteer Development Manager to ensure application process is kept up to date and is easily accessible to prospective volunteers.

· Liaise with potential volunteers, following up on expressions of interest, providing triage, answering queries and providing information relating to roles which may be relevant and of interest to encourage applications.

· Maintain database records ensuring swift distribution of applications to services team

· Support the Volunteer Development Manager to identify areas of potential efficiency and improvement in working practices in the recruitment, training and onboarding processes.

· Work across the wider team to understand and support volunteer requests, proactively approaching active volunteers with projects and opportunities for them to get involved.

· Coordinate volunteer request opportunities with volunteers and volunteer managers to ensure requests are fulfilled to raise awareness of Back Up’s services.

Other duties and responsibilities

· Maintaining accurate records on the database, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.

· Be a ‘Data Champion’, leading by example on the importance of good data practice and hygiene, and using the system to its best efficiency.

· Raise awareness of volunteer opportunities via external websites e.g. GoVo, NHS Volunteering.

· Work as a team, consulting with others to ensure you give and receive high quality support.

· Other duties as required by the Volunteer Development Manager.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:

· Excellent planning skills and disciplines with demonstrated experience in the management and coordination of tasks and events.

Tax Manager - UK Hybrid: £50,000 - £53,000 + Amazing Benefits

For a global organisation working in over 100 countries, we're recruiting a Tax Manager. Reporting to the Group Tax Manager, this role will support the team on all direct tax initiatives across the UK and International Regions and Countries covering developments in tax policies, processes, procedures and tax systems. The Tax Manager will support the mitigation of global tax risks and will ensure complex business operations globally are managed tax efficiently. This role can be based UK-wide, with occasional office attendance (London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast)

Main Duties:

• Provide technical and tax advisory support across all tax disciplines and to all areas of the organisation, supporting global tax reporting and forecasting
• Work with finance business partners, transfer pricing specialists and subsidiaries accountants to implement transfer pricing charging for intra-group services
• Provide support to Group Tax Manager on specific country tax and status projects
• Support in dealing with local tax authorities as country statuses change and negotiate beneficial direct tax liability arrangements
• Maintain control and oversight to monitor tax risks globally and support tax audit resolutions
• Support Group Tax Manager devise direct tax policies, processes and procedures to ensure controls are robust for all entities and countries

Person Specification:
