Job description

Deki is a Bristol based, microfinance charity that empowers African entrepreneurs to work their way out of poverty by providing life changing loans alongside business and community development training.

We are looking for an experienced Trust and Foundations Fundraising Manager to join us.

The main responsibilities of this role will be to identify, secure and steward five and six-figure grants from trusts, foundations and institutional donors.

This role will also be responsible for the excellent stewardship of all Deki supporters. Ensuring that the exceptional communication and customer service they receive leave them feeling valued and part of the difference they are making.

This is a full-time role, working a 37.5 hour week. Deki operates a flexible working policy to support your work life balance.

Key responsibilities include:

 – Securing and stewarding five and six-figure grants from trusts, foundations and institutional donors

– Writing engaging and well-structured funding proposals for different types of donors

– Maximising income by researching and developing relationships with grant-giving charitable trusts and institutional donors

– Developing a high performing funding pipeline of pre-qualified prospects

– Ensuring that all Deki supporters receive an appropriate level of communication leaving them feeling valued and part of the entrepreneur’s journey

– Presenting supporters with further fundraising opportunities

– Maintaining accurate, up to date and comprehensive records of all donors using our database

– Contributing to the smooth running of the fundraising team by providing administrative and organisational support as needed

– Being the first port of call for our supporters and the general public; providing a consistent voice for Deki through answering phone and email enquiries

Essential Experience:

– A minimum of 3 years-experience in securing funds from Trust and Foundations

– Experience working with CRM systems

– Strong organisational skills, a ‘completer finisher’ with a good attention to detail

– Customer services and problem solving

– Communication skills, both verbal and written

– Self-starter and proactive personality

– Passionate about international development and Deki’s work
