Position:Head of Community Support and Operations
Location:Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Hours:30 hours to be taken flexibly over Monday – Friday; 1 day wfh allowance
Salary: £50,562 FTE (£40,996 pro rata)
Contract type:Permanent
Reportable to: CEO
Direct reports: Volunteer Development Co-ordinator, Charity Advisor and Partnership Coordinator and any relevant roles that develop
Job Purpose
The Head of Community Support and Operations is a pivotal new role being introduced to the executive team at Barnsley CVS. This person will be a key role in the growth and development of the executive team. You will play an exciting part in the delivery and development of the recently developed 4-year strategy and theory of change. Your role will drive intention and focus on developing our support to the sector in a meaningful way to high standards, whilst ensuring our own internal operations reflect best practice. You will need a strong knowledge of charity set up, management and governance along with a passion for what the VCSE sector does. You will be confident in people management and development; have the ability to work inclusively with a wide range of people and backgrounds and the skill to see gaps and opportunities for service development.
You will work closely with the Head of Strategic Partnerships to identify gaps and opportunities to develop our offer of support to the sector whether through direct services, training, brokerage agreements or membership offers. As you identify these opportunities, you will work collaboratively with the Head of Business Development to explore commercial income options that are also in line with our mission and vision.
Using your excellent people skills, you will act as the first point of contact for HR matters within the charity, overseeing the general management of our online HR system, policies and procedures. You will work in collaboration with the CEO in any areas that need significant development or management.
You will keep up to date with new initiatives and ideas in the wider infrastructure sector, relevant legislation and modern thinking in relation to charity management best practice.

Our client is a young, growing grant‑making charity dedicated to transforming mental health support for young people aged 11–25 yrs across the UK. Founded in 2020, they invest around £8m each year in services and research that prevents and treats anxiety and depression, strengthens the evidence base for what works, and helps proven approaches reach the young people who need them the most.
Prospectus is delighted to be working with our client to recruit an Operations Assistant to join its small but busy and experienced team, in a key role based at lovely offices in Central London.
The Role
As Operations Assistant, this person will play an important part in keeping the grant‑making and organisational operations running smoothly. Reporting to the Head of Grants, this person will support the day‑to‑day administration of funding programmes, maintaining accurate records in Salesforce, will help to coordinate and facilitate charity visits and events, and provide general office and administrative support across the organisation. The person will also assist with diary management, meeting preparation, minute‑taking and occasional EA support for the CEO and wider team when needed.
This role will play a key role in bringing the work of the wider team together in a smooth and coordinated way with a strong systematic, helpful and organised approach.
The Person
The successful candidate will be highly organised, detail‑focused and comfortable managing multiple tasks at pace. They will bring a proactive, “can‑do” approach, strong communication skills and the confidence to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. They will naturally enjoy keeping systems tidy, will be comfortable working with databases (ideally Salesforce), and will have solid IT skills across Microsoft Office products. This person will understand the importance of discretion, confidentiality and accuracy in addition to being highly numerate and comfortable with figures and preparing reports.
This person will have a natural sense of responsibility for their own role and will be a supportive and collaborative team player. They will be motivated by working with like-minded individuals from diverse backgrounds, connected by the mission of improving young people’s mental health in the UK.

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Agreements Section Assistant to join the team at the ITF. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting our affiliate's agreements function.
About the Role
The Agreements Unit Section Assistant will be responsible for processing of ITF Agreement applications, monitoring consultations, assembling and verifying evidence in support of beneficial ownership; representing the ITF to ship-owners, affiliates and inspectors in connection with agreement processes and related matters; responsible for identifying source of cash receipts relating to Welfare Fund, including unallocated cash receipts and membership fees and preparing special agreements and related documentation.
The Assistant will work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve ITF Agreements and other issues; secure the active interests of ITF’s aims and objectives and provide narrative reports for relevant decision-making bodies including constitutional and non-constitutional entities within ITF structures.
About the You
A professional, with Maritime background and trade union experience are desirable. Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel at intermediate level; broad experience in general administration and data inputting as well as knowledge of and experience working on database such as Microsoft CRM. High level communication skills, both verbally and in writing are key requirements, plus a proven ability to develop positive relationships with organisations and individuals across diverse cultures. Due to the nature of the organisation and the role, speaking a second language would be an advantage.
