About Challenge Ministries UK

We are a Christian organization that exists to raise money in the UK to help fund the work of Challenge Ministries in Eswatini, Southern Africa. For 30 years Challenge Ministries have been doing three things:

1) Rehabilitation centres for men and women who have struggled with addiction and behavioural problems. Our centres run 12 month long Christian discipleship programmes, and we have seen wonderful transformation in many individuals over the last 30 years. One of our graduates learnt to read, studied theology and became one of our pastors for example.

2) Orphan care: In response to the HIV crisis of the 1980’s and 1990’s we have raised hundreds of children left homeless and parentless. At one point in time, over 50% of the country were under the age of 21. Many of our children are now giving back. We have enabled university education for many of our graduates and some of the teachers in Bulembu (the village we established to provide a safe haven) originally came through that same education system they now serve. Currently we have a campaign to reunite children with their extended families and are moving into the area of driving fostering and adoption in Eswatini.

3)  Church planting: We have a vision of reaching the whole of Eswatini for Christ, with a target of establishing 60 church plants. Each church plant (which we call In Community By Community or ICBC because they are established in partnership with local communities) consists of a pastor’s house, church and preschool. Once established, these rural communities enable us to educate children, share the gospel and develop micro-businesses and feeding programmes. In 2025, we established our 45th ICBC, provided over 2 million meals, had 1,500 children in pre-school education and saw 2000 people come to Christ. God is doing the impossible and we expect to have completed all 60 sites by 2030.

The Partner relations role

To raise income in the UK by implementing fundraising activities and by developing and equipping volunteer ambassadors and partner organizations to do the same.

The role operates as part of a wider Global Development Team and is accountable to the Head of Global Development, while remaining rooted in the UK context and accountable to the charitable purposes and governance of CM-UK.

Key tasks

1. To drive fundraising  activities by:

•  Developing links with schools, churches and businesses along with private individual donors
• Presenting the CM story in assemblies, church meetings and other gatherings
• Working with the global team to develop various fundraising campaigns including agreeing key messaging, ask and target audience

2. Recruit and develop volunteer CM ambassadors with the aim of equipping them to carry out fundraising activities in  their churches, schools and businesses.

3. Attend conferences/exhibitions and man stands

4. Coordinate and communicate effectively with the global fundraising team through weekly meetings and with UK trustees as and when required.

5. Oversee larger fundraising events such as choir tours and marathons etc.

6. Lead Mission Teams to Eswatini so that donors can see our work

The ideal candidate

•  We are faith based so you need to be a Christian, comfortable praying with colleagues and developing partnerships across church denominations
• A people person great at developing strong relationships with colleagues, volunteer ambassadors, donors and partner organizations.
• A confident and capable communicator able to present the amazing story of CM and the need in Eswatini to a range of audiences young and old.
• A self starter: We are a small organization of three staff in the UK with a team lead abroad, so you need to be self-motivated and able to drive your own daily work schedule.
• Organized: You will be juggling multiple balls so need to prioritse workload and work efficiently
• Commercially minded, comfortable with aiming for income targets
• Confident using social media and tools such as PowerPoint and Canva to communicate key messages effectively to target audiences.
• A heart for Africa, reaching the lost and caring for children and the vulnerable.

Desirable but not essential

•  Experience with fundraising in the UK or a degree in International development
•  Can you preach? Some of our partners ask us to speak as part of their worship
