Our Individual Giving programme is central to our fundraising strategy to increase
our unrestricted, sustainable income. This is a key role, focused on recruiting and stewarding
donors across a range of channels including face-to-face, direct mail and digital.
As this is a new role, we would like you to own it from the outset, and it is an exciting opportunity to build on the plans in place for fundraising campaigns, and face to face regular giving acquisition.
The role will involve managing all aspects of acquisition and stewardship. This will include agreeing propositions, recruiting and managing third party suppliers such as face-toface agencies, briefing creative for digital asks and liaising with our in-house comms team to
create engaging fundraising copy and materials. The Individual Giving Manager will also be
responsible for developing and delivering the stewardship programme to maximise loyalty
and lifetime value.

The Individual Giving Manager will lead the development of RLSS UK’s first comprehensive individual giving programme, building all activity from the ground up. This includes designing compelling supporter propositions, establishing donor journeys, and creating engaging campaigns that drive acquisition and long-term support.
A key part of the role will be scoping, procuring, and managing external suppliers, agencies, platforms, and partners required to deliver individual giving products and activity. This includes the development and future launch of new income streams for RLSS UK, such as a charity lottery, as well as regular giving, legacy marketing, and in-memory giving opportunities.
The postholder will play a central role in shaping the future of supporter engagement at RLSS UK, introducing best practice, ensuring strong stewardship, and embedding a supporter‑centred culture across the organisation.
JOB PURPOSE
To develop, launch, and grow RLSS UK’s first individual giving programme, building sustainable income streams that support our vital work in water safety education. As the first dedicated individual giving role, you will design the strategy and deliver hands on activity, creating compelling propositions, supporter journeys and campaigns across regular giving, one‑off gifts, lottery, legacies and in‑memory giving.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and Strategy
- Develop RLSS UK’s first Individual Giving strategy, setting clear plans, targets, and opportunities for growth across all giving products.
- Introduce and embed best practice in compliance, data management, supporter care, and ethical fundraising.
Supplier and Partner Development
- Scope organisational needs and procure/manage suppliers, agencies and platforms required to deliver individual giving activity.
- Lead onboarding and manage delivery to agreed standards, budgets and timelines.
Supporter Engagement and Campaign Development
- Design end‑to‑end supporter journeys (acquisition, welcome, nurture, upgrade, reactivation, retention).
- Plan and deliver multi‑channel campaigns (digital, social, email, paid, direct mail) to acquire, retain and engage supporters.
- Build audience understanding through segmentation, insight and experimentation.
- Work closely with Marketing and Communications, Membership, and other teams to embed Individual Giving into the organisation.
Product Development
- Scope and pilot propositions for: Regular Giving, Digital one‑off, Charity Lottery, Legacy Giving, In‑Memory, Appeals/integrated campaigns, and Mid‑value.
- Produce product business cases with KPIs, budgets, phasing and implementation plans.
Reporting and Evaluation
- Establish reporting and monitoring frameworks for Individual Giving activity.
- Use early data and insight to inform decision‑making, future planning, and product development.
- Ensure all activity complies with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Practice, GDPR, PECR and Gambling Commission requirements.
- Monitor and report on individual giving performance against KPIs and targets, reporting on performance to the Director of Income Generation and Engagement, Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees.
Other Duties & Responsibilities

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Relevant Experience, Skills and/or Aptitudes
- Demonstrable experience of individual giving across multiple products, which may include regular giving, one‑off gifts, lottery, legacy giving, in‑memory giving, and appeals.
- Ability to craft compelling supporter propositions and use storytelling to communicate impact and motivate giving.
- Proven track record designing and managing supporter journeys that improve acquisition, retention, and lifetime value.
- Experience of delivering multi‑channel integrated acquisition campaigns, (digital and offline approaches).
- Experience of procuring and managing suppliers, agencies, and platforms, ensuring high‑quality delivery and value for money.
- Data‑driven mindset, comfortable with metrics, segmentation, reporting, insight gathering, and budget forecasting.
- Strong understanding of return on investment (ROI) and the ability to evaluate the effectiveness, sustainability, and value of fundraising activity.
- Strong understanding of CRM systems and fundraising technologies, and how these support effective individual giving programmes.

Principal responsibilities and duties
Budget Management
- With the Head of Comms & Individual Giving, set annual budgets and programmes of activity, actively monitoring performance against these and adapting approach as necessary
- Plan, monitor and control expenditure as appropriate and manage income against set budget, KPIs; providing regular revised projections and narrative for the Senior Leadership Team and trustees as required
- Analyse individual giving performance, reporting as required and using the results to improve practice, including evaluation of cost effectiveness and sustainability
Communicating and building relationships
- Cultivate and steward meaningful relationships with individual donors to maintain their engagement and support and ensure a stable and growing donor base
- Create compelling fundraising materials and appeals targeted at individual donors
- Provide excellent donor stewardship through timely acknowledgement of gifts, personalised communication and recognition efforts.

Individual Giving & Engagement Manager
We are seeking a strategic and creative Individual Giving & Engagement Manager to grow supporter income and deepen relationships with individuals passionate about protecting rainforests.
Position: Individual Giving & Engagement Manager
Salary: £40,000 per annum
Location: Remote within the UK with occasional travel
Hours: Full time

About the Role
This role will lead the organisation’s individual giving programme, developing strategies to attract, engage and retain supporters while increasing sustainable income.
Working closely with the fundraising and communications teams, you will oversee multi-channel campaigns, supporter journeys and fundraising appeals. You will also manage a small team and use data insights to optimise performance and drive long term supporter engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development and delivery of the individual giving strategy
- Managing campaigns across digital, social and supporter communications channels
- Growing income through regular giving, appeals, payroll giving and community fundraising
- Managing budgets, monitoring performance and analysing campaign results
- Collaborating with marketing and communications colleagues to deliver integrated campaigns
- Developing supporter journeys to improve acquisition, retention and lifetime value
- Line managing the Individual Giving Officer and ensuring excellent supporter care
- Maintaining accurate data and campaign records within the CRM system
- Ensuring fundraising activity complies with regulatory and governance requirements
About You
You will be an experienced individual giving fundraiser who enjoys combining creativity with data led decision making.
You will bring:
- Experience growing an individual giving programme or supporter income stream
- Proven experience delivering multi-channel fundraising campaigns
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and improve performance
- Excellent written communication and storytelling skills
- Experience managing budgets and monitoring fundraising results
- Confidence managing or mentoring team members
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across teams

We are in the first year of our next strategic period, and this is an exciting moment to join the Charitable Foundation team as its new Fundraising Manager (Individual Giving).
Our individual giving (IG) programme is at a pivotal stage of development, and the Fundraising Manager will play a key role in helping us to deliver this and meet our ambitious income targets. This is a senior role that will lead the delivery of the IG strategy, driving engagement and sustainable income growth from across the SJP community — Partners, Advisers and employees.
Reporting to the Head of Foundation and working within a collaborative team of seven, the Fundraising Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping donor engagement, enhancing stewardship pathways, and ensuring delivery of annual income targets to support the Foundation’s grant-making in the UK and overseas.
This role will influence senior stakeholders across SJP, be central to building meaningful relationships with our donors, and help embed a strong culture of giving throughout the community.
What you’ll be doing:
Individual Giving Strategy & Income Growth
· Lead the development and delivery of a long-term Individual Giving strategy, covering regular giving, donations, legacies and celebration giving.
· Drive donor acquisition, retention, upgrade and reactivation activity.
· Develop and implement robust, donor-centric stewardship pathways to maximise engagement and lifetime value.
· Deliver targeted, multi-channel internal fundraising campaigns across SJP digital platforms.
· Use data-led insights, audience segmentation and testing to optimise performance and ensure continued innovation.
· Monitor and evaluate IG performance, reporting insights and recommendations to the Head of Foundation and Board of Trustees.
· Manage the IG budget to deliver strong ROI and achieve agreed income targets.
· Identify funding gaps and implement corrective actions where required.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
· Build and support major donor relationship development alongside the Head of Foundation.
· Work closely with the Fundraising Manager (Events & Committees) and Foundation Co-ordinator to motivate and grow Regional Foundation Committees.
· Represent the Foundation at corporate, challenge and Foundation events (including occasional out-of-hours attendance).
· Collaborate with colleagues to develop compelling impact stories that inspire giving.
· Influence and engage stakeholders across SJP, often at senior level.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
· Ensure all fundraising activity complies with GDPR, charity law and fundraising best practice.
· Adhere to the Chartered Institute of Fundraising Code.
· Monitor risks associated with IG activities and maintain appropriate controls and risk register updates.
· Contribute to business continuity planning within your area of responsibility
Who We Are Looking For:
We are looking for an experienced and strategically minded fundraising professional who combines strong commercial awareness with a passion for charitable impact. You will be confident influencing stakeholders across SJP, highly data literate, and motivated by delivering sustainable income growth.
The ideal candidate will bring energy, creativity and a collaborative approach, alongside the ability to translate complex data into clear insight and action. You will understand the unique role of the Foundation within SJP and be committed to delivering an exceptional supporter experience.
Essential Criteria:
· Extensive experience developing and delivering strategic Individual Giving programmes within a medium to large charity.
· Proven track record of achieving income growth through donor acquisition, retention and stewardship strategies.
· Strong analytical capability, with experience using CRM systems (e.g. Raisers Edge or similar) to segment, analyse and report on fundraising performance.
· Sound knowledge of charity regulation, fundraising compliance and relevant legislation (including GDPR).
· Demonstrable ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Desirable Criteria:
· Experience working within a corporate foundation or corporate-charity environment.
· Experience managing and evaluating fundraising budgets to optimise ROI.
· Experience presenting performance insights to Boards or senior governance groups.
· Knowledge of charity law applicable to corporate foundations.
