Veterans Community Occupational Therapist
Location: Remote working
We have two positions available – one based in the North of England and one based in the South of England.
- North: Preferably based in North-West England, including Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Blackpool and surrounding areas.
- South: Preferably based in Salisbury or the surrounding areas.
We are open to candidates who live further afield, where the location is within a reasonable travelling distance for the community-based requirements of the role.
Both positions involve community-based travel as part of the role, as well as occasional UK-wide travel to attend face-to-face clinical and wider team meetings (approximately 4–5 times per year).
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week

About the role
We are looking for an experienced Social Worker to join our Manchester Team supporting children and young people diagnosed with cancer.
We pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality support tailored to the needs of the children and young people and their families. The work we do is rewarding but also complex and demanding. You will be part of a close-knit Young Lives vs Cancer social work team, working with established NHS multi-disciplinary teams and services in the community.
This role is hybrid working requiring two to three days per week to be hospital based. Your contractual base will be both Home and Hospital.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and values-driven Casework Manager (£41,400) to lead our dedicated frontline team in Streatham Hill, with hybrid working available. In this pivotal role, you will balance technical casework supervision with compassionate people management—ensuring young asylum seekers and refugees receive high-quality advocacy, advice, and trauma-informed support.
As our Casework Manager, you will manage workload allocation across caseworkers, and maintain rigorous standards across all casework. You will also provide line management, support staff development, and track outcome data to compile clear reports for funders and management. You will take an active role in advocacy and campaigning work to drive policy change in line with DYP’s constitution.
Key Responsibilities

This is a highly visible and collaborative role requiring regular travel across Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, North Stafford, Cumbria and surrounding areas. As a Dog Welfare Specialist at Guide Dogs, you'll play a key role in ensuring our dogs receive the highest standards of care and welfare. Working closely with guide dog owners, volunteers, veterinary professionals and colleagues, you'll provide expert advice, assess welfare needs, interpret complex health information and support informed decisions that maximise canine health, wellbeing and quality of life. The Dog Welfare Specialist will be an expert in canine health and welfare, welfare assessment, veterinary case management and translating complex technical information into practical guidance for a wide range of stakeholders. Our Dog Welfare Specialists play a huge part in ensuring everything we do enables us to deliver on our purpose and exceed expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- As part of a regional team, assist in the operational delivery of all dog welfare services ensuring best practice.
- Collaborate with the Dog Triage and veterinary services teams to provide in person advice and practical support as appropriate to volunteers and clients within the designated geographical area.
- Adhering to prioritisation criteria carryout in-person welfare assessments, as directed by the Dog Welfare Operations Manager.
- Responsible for gaining all relevant veterinary information to support decisions on treatment plans. Consult with internal and external veterinary professionals and/or clients to identify the most appropriate course of action, maximise the dog's veterinary care and welfare.
- Interpret or clarify technical information to aid understanding for internal and external stakeholders.
- In collaboration with Guide Dog Service (GDS) colleagues, ensure all dogs allocated to the Dog Welfare Specialist, receive required health screens and investigations.

You'll have a proactive and solutions-focused approach to canine health and wellbeing, using your expertise to make informed decisions and support positive outcomes. You'll enjoy working in a collaborative and relationship-driven environment, partnering with colleagues, veterinary professionals, guide dog owners and volunteers, with a dedicated focus on delivering high standards of care and evidence-based decision making. Skills and Competencies
- Vocational qualification specific to canine health and welfare to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- One of the following;
- 2 ‘A’ levels (one of which must be a biological or social science subject) (QCF level 3 / SQCF levels 6-7)
- OR equivalent qualifications, or experience.
- Able to meet the travel requirements of the role which involves transporting dogs. In the absence of a full valid UK Driving License, you will be expected to demonstrate how you will fulfil this aspect of the role via alternative means.
- Experience working with dogs within a professional environment, applying welfare-based decision making to support positive outcomes.
- Experience coaching, teaching, mentoring or supporting others to develop knowledge, skills or competence.
- Experience of dealing with complex canine health cases in a veterinary, rescue or welfare environment.
- Sound understanding of canine welfare principles and their practical application.
- Good knowledge of common canine health conditions, treatment options and ongoing management requirements.

Overview
Change Grow Live are a charity dedicated to the belief that we can make a difference to our Service Users lives. Our NMP’s are integral members of our multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams, delivering recovery orientated alcohol and drug intervention services. Offering care for presenting clients, prescribing and/or making amendments to prescriptions of opiate and/or alcohol substitute treatments and other related medications, they take a lead role in developing the prescribing clinic, acting as a point of contact for other workers and partner agencies around prescribing issues.

Responsibilities
About the role:
- Assess, diagnose, plan; implement and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for service users
- Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness appropriate to service user needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and local protocols, and within scope of practice
- Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the service user in complex, urgent or emergency situations seeking immediate advice and direction from the Clinical Lead if needed
- Assess, update, and refer service users for BBV vaccination and immunisation programmes. Support service users to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles
- Communicate effectively with service users and carers, anticipating barriers to communication and recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background and preferred ways of communicating
- Maintain effective communication within the organisational environment and with external stakeholders, acting as an advocate for service users and colleagues where necessary
- Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures
- Assess effectiveness of care delivery through self and peer review, benchmarking, and formal evaluation. Be actively involved in the annual appraisal system

About you:
- Qualified pharmacist with current GPhC registration and two years’s post qualification experience OR First level registered nurse with a current PIN AND three years post qualification experience
- Qualified Non-Medical Prescriber
- At least one year’s relevant and recent experience of working within substance misuse treatment
- Sound and demonstrable knowledge of harm reduction and health promotion interventions
- Ability to assess and recovery plan service users and formulate written reports as necessary
- Ability to communicate confidently and effectively, verbally and in writing
- Full driving licence and access to own transport, or ability to demonstrate easy movement between services, if necessary
