Job description

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of refugees and asylum seekers? Would you like to be part of a dedicated team helping people rebuild their lives with dignity, hope and independence?

New Citizens’ Gateway (NCG) is looking for a motivated and experienced Outreach Support Officer to join our friendly and committed team, providing vital frontline support to asylum seekers living in asylum contingency hotels in the local areas.

NCG is an established charity dedicated to improving the lives of refugees and asylum seekers. Through our holistic, person-centred approach, we help individuals overcome barriers, access essential services, improve their wellbeing and become more independent.

About the Role

As an Outreach Support Officer, you will work closely with our Advice and Outreach teams to provide practical, person-centred support to asylum seekers facing complex challenges. You will help individuals navigate the asylum support system, access appropriate services, overcome social isolation and feel more connected to their communities.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with people who need support most and see the positive impact of your work.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working directly with refugees and asylum seekers.

  • Has a strong understanding of the UK asylum support system and the challenges faced by people seeking sanctuary.

  • Is compassionate, approachable and committed to empowering vulnerable individuals.

  • Has excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.

  • Can work independently while contributing positively to a supportive team.

  • Can manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.

  • Ideally speaks an additional community language, although this is not essential.

What We Offer

At NCG, we value our staff and recognise the importance of a supportive and inclusive working environment. We offer:

  • 6% employer pension contribution

  • 34 days annual leave, including bank holidays

  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) providing confidential support and advice to promote staff wellbeing, including personal and work-related matters.

  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities

  • A welcoming, diverse and supportive team

  • The opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals and communities

Why Join Us?

At NCG, you will become part of a diverse, welcoming and supportive organisation that values the skills, experiences and contributions of its staff. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives every day.

If you believe everyone deserves safety, dignity and the opportunity to thrive, we would love to hear from you.
