About the role:
Recovery looks different for everyone, and meaningful opportunities can be a powerful part of helping people move forward. As a Recovery and Opportunities Coordinator, you’ll take the lead in creating a programme that gives clients across Ashley Road, Milton House and Highbury New Park the chance to build confidence, strengthen their wellbeing, discover new interests, develop new skills and take positive steps towards greater independence.
This is a hands on and creative role where you’ll turn ideas into activities that people genuinely want to take part in. You’ll design and deliver engaging group work covering areas such as mental and physical health, relationships, substance use, life skills and learning, while creating opportunities that support clients to prepare for moving on to more independent accommodation. You’ll use a strengths based and trauma-informed approach, adapting what you offer to respond to people’s interests, goals and experiences.
You’ll also look beyond our services to create more opportunities for clients. Building strong relationships with community organisations, statutory services, specialist agencies and lived experience networks, you’ll help connect people with the resources, activities and support available around them. Alongside this, you’ll champion co-production, support colleagues, volunteers and peers to get involved in delivering the programme, and help make recovery and social inclusion a visible part of everyday service delivery.
At Single Homeless Project (SHP), you’ll be encouraged to keep developing your own practice too. Through training, supervision and reflective practice, you’ll have opportunities to deepen your knowledge of recovery, trauma-informed approaches and group work, while playing an active part in shaping how we support people experiencing multiple disadvantage.
About you:
- You have experience developing, coordinating and facilitating groups and activities, with a good understanding of group dynamics and how to support others to deliver them confidently and effectively.
- You’re creative, enthusiastic and proactive, with the confidence to turn ideas into meaningful opportunities and encourage clients, colleagues, volunteers and peers to get involved.
- You’re confident building positive working relationships and partnerships with a range of internal and external services, helping to open up new opportunities for the people we support.
- You understand how to engage, motivate and inspire people experiencing multiple disadvantage, including the barriers that can make participation more difficult, and can create a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
- You’re committed to inclusive practice, creating environments where people from different backgrounds feel respected and able to participate, while maintaining clear and appropriate professional boundaries.
About us:
We’re London’s leading homelessness charity – and we get things done.
In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.
We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.
Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that’s bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.

Context
This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in a pioneering programme that could reshape how kinship families are supported across England.
Kinship is undertaking a pilot Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT) of Kinship Connected, a Kinship Navigator programme designed to provide intensive, specialist support to kinship carers and help them navigate complex systems.
This is a multi-partner programme involving funders, independent evaluators, participating local authorities, internal delivery teams and kinship carers with lived experience.
Kinship Navigators are at the heart of delivery. You will work directly with kinship carers in the community and in their homes, providing intensive 1-to-1 support and facilitating local support groups, while working closely with local authority partners and other services.
Because the programme forms part of a pilot RCT, maintaining high-quality case records and accurate data collection is critical. Your work will contribute directly to the evidence base about what works for kinship families.
Each Navigator will support around 40 kinship carers over the delivery year, holding a caseload of approximately 20 families at any one time.
You will be part of a wider delivery team including the Programmes Manager, Mobilisation and Delivery Project Manager, research colleagues and other Kinship teams, working together to ensure the programme is delivered ethically, consistently and to a high standard
About the role:
The Kinship Navigator provides intensive, time-limited support to kinship carers through the Kinship Connected programme, a structured six-month intervention designed to help kinship families stabilise placements and access the support they need.
Working directly with kinship carers, you will build trusting relationships while completing structured assessments, goal setting and reviews to help families strengthen support networks and navigate services such as children’s social care, education, health and community support.
This is a community-facing role, working directly with kinship carers in homes, community spaces and through co-location with local authority teams and partner organisations.
The role requires a combination of high-quality relational practice and disciplined case recording. As part of the pilot RCT, accurate documentation of activity, progress and outcomes is essential to ensure the programme can be evaluated and improved.
You will work closely with the Programmes Manager, delivery team, researchers and local authority partners to ensure the programme is delivered consistently, ethically and to a high standard, with a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in supporting kinship families from all backgrounds.

About the role:
Recovery is about more than addressing immediate needs. It is also about having somewhere to belong, opportunities to build confidence and skills, meaningful connections with other people, and the chance to take part in the community around you. As our Recovery and Opportunities Co-ordinator, you’ll help make those opportunities a reality for people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantage in our St John's Mansions service.
You’ll develop and coordinate our Recovery and Opportunities programme, creating activities and opportunities that reflect what clients actually want from their services and communities. You’ll work alongside clients, colleagues, volunteers and peer supporters to co-produce activities, build participation and make sure people are supported to get involved in ways that feel meaningful to them. You’ll also help equip others with the confidence, training and resources they need to deliver opportunities effectively.
A big part of the role happens beyond our services. You’ll build strong relationships with community organisations, local residents, statutory and voluntary-sector partners and other opportunities across Islington, opening doors for clients to access volunteering, education, cultural activities and wider community life. You’ll represent Single Homeless Project (SHP) at local forums and events, champion social value across our services and look for creative ways we can contribute positively to the communities our clients are part of.
You’ll also help us understand what is making a difference, monitoring participation and outcomes and using what we learn to strengthen the programme over time. It’s a role with plenty of scope for creativity and initiative, where you can turn relationships, ideas and client feedback into opportunities that reduce isolation, strengthen belonging and help people move forward with greater confidence, independence and purpose.
About you:
- You have experience engaging and motivating people experiencing multiple disadvantage, including people who may have previously found it difficult to engage with services or opportunities.
- You can develop, coordinate and facilitate engaging groups, activities or programmes, and understand how to encourage meaningful participation from different people.
- You’re confident building relationships with community organisations, residents, colleagues and external partners, and can turn those relationships into practical opportunities for clients.
- You understand the importance of social value and social impact and can think creatively about how services can contribute positively to their local communities.
- You’re an engaging communicator who can work collaboratively across different teams, represent a service externally and bring people together around a shared goal.
Every day, we put people first in everything we do, challenging injustice and barriers that keep people from the safety, stability and opportunity they deserve.
We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We listen. We learn. And we push forward, together. Because this isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to lead with empathy, spark change, and help build a London where no one is left behind.
