The Museum is now seeking an exceptional Director of Development to lead a transformative capital campaign ahead of the 2030 opening. Based at the JW3 office and reporting to the CEO, the role will shape and deliver a multi-year fundraising strategy to meet a campaign target of just under £20 million, including £15 million capital costs. As a key member of the Leadership Team, the Director will represent the Museum publicly, build high-value donor relationships, lead major gift and capital fundraising activity, and work closely with Trustees and senior staff to drive philanthropic engagement across trusts, foundations, corporates and individuals.
Candidates will bring significant experience of developing and delivering successful fundraising strategies for large-scale or capital projects, with a strong personal track record of securing high level gifts. You will be a confident relationship-builder, an excellent communicator, and comfortable working with senior stakeholders and donors. Financial acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to inspire trust quickly are essential, alongside experience managing budgets, donor events and compelling campaign materials. Networks within the arts, heritage or philanthropic sectors would be an advantage.

STOP THE TRAFFIK prevents vulnerable communities from being recruited, trafficked, and exploited. Our targeted prevention work disrupts the criminal business of human trafficking, making it too high-risk and low-profit to be viable.
The Fundraising Officer sits within our Development & Communications Team and will support on growing and delivering our fundraising and partnership pipeline. The Fundraising Officer will lead on donor administration, support the preparation of applications to trusts and foundations, contribute to individual giving initiatives, and help build philanthropic and corporate partnerships.

This role will be responsible for:
Funding Development & Applications

Relationship Management

Individual Giving & Activity Fundraisers

· Coordinate activity-based fundraising events, including the London Marathon, to maximise income and supporter engagement.

Campaigns & Individual Giving
· Help develop and deliver our fundraising campaigns, including our annual match-funded December festive campaign.
· Work with the wider Development & Communications Team to create other compelling campaigns that grow supporter engagement and income, including initiatives for universities, schools, and faith groups.
Storytelling & Impact
· Transform data, monitoring and evaluation insights, and project outcomes into clear, engaging narratives for diverse audiences.
· Collaborate with programme teams to capture impact and integrate it into pitches and into donor reporting.

Role Purpose
This is a new role. Stand-by-me is seeking an experienced Director to effectively lead and manage the organisation. About the role

We are recruiting a Fundraising Manager to act as the organisation’s operational lead for income generation. This is a part-time role (18–24 hours per week) with significant flexibility, ideal for someone who is organised, thoughtful, and motivated by building something meaningful.
The Fundraising Manager will manage and coordinate income across five strands: trusts and foundations, major donors, corporate foundations, individual and digital giving, and statutory funding. While the role has a strong trusts and foundations focus, it offers real scope to build skills and experience across a broad fundraising portfolio.
Working closely with the CEO, a highly experienced freelance Bid Writer, and the wider team, you will be responsible for developing funding pipelines, producing high-quality proposals and applications, stewarding funder relationships, and translating programme impact into compelling narratives. You will also play a key role in donor communications, reporting, CRM management, and supporting campaigns and events.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys balancing writing, relationship-building, planning and delivery – and who values doing fundraising with integrity and care.
About you
We are looking for someone with experience in fundraising (particularly trusts and foundations) or strong transferable skills such as persuasive writing, project management, or stakeholder engagement. You will be comfortable managing multiple deadlines, maintaining an organised pipeline, and working independently while staying closely connected to a small team.

This is a unique opportunity to join one of the oldest charities in the UK in a flexible, part time general managerial capacity, supporting the Trustees. The ideal candidate will have a professional qualification in accounting, property or the law and is comfortable working with professional advisers across all these disciplines. The appointment of this senior role arises by the retirement of the current incumbent, and the role offers a competitive rate which will depend on qualifications and experience.
Background
The King Henry VIII Endowed Trust, founded in 1545, holds a portfolio of c. £80m in Equities, Bonds, Land and Commercial Property, part of the Total Return from which (£2.5m in 2025) is distributed in Warwick in accordance with its Charity Commission Scheme, as follows:
· 50% Anglican churches in Warwick and Budbrooke
· 30% Warwick Schools Foundation - means tested bursaries and community activities
· 20% as grants for the “benefit of the inhabitants of Warwick”
The Trust has up to 12 trustees (4 nominated, 8 co-opted), who meet quarterly. At present, there is a Clerk & Receiver (role being renamed to COO), a deputy Clerk (who deals mainly with grants and organising meetings) and an accountant – all part-time and self-employed.
The current Clerk is retiring and is a Chartered Accountant who has held the role for 16 years, during which time the Trust has gone through a period of change. The Trust is now in a stable stage, where the priorities are managing our financial, land and property assets in order to maintain our distribution. The role is being renamed to Chief Operating Officer to better reflect the role, and would ideally remain a self-employed role.
The typical work load is likely to require about 10-15 hours per week, which fluctuates and is focused around the quarterly meeting and annual accounts. There is potential for 2 areas of land to be included in the local plan which will create additional opportunities.
Role specifics
Financial Investments
· Liaise with the investment managers (Currently: CCLA, Navera, Savills, Royal London)
· Manage any short-term deposits with HSBC
Property
· Liaise with property advisers (Margetts and Cushman & Wakefield) to manage the Trust’s property (currently an office block, a pub, a shooting range and 3 blocks of farm land)
· Oversee St Mary’s Rectory. This is owned by the Trust and is provided free of charge to the incumbent at St Mary’s, through an agreement with the Coventry Diocese.
· Ensure any property sales or leases operate within charity law.
· Where land is in the Local Plan, work with advisers and/or promoters to obtain the best commercial deal.
Charity Commission
· Manage any changes required to the Trust’s Charity Commission Schemes and Orders.
· Ensure that the Trust operates within the limitations of these Schemes and Orders.

· Manage information on Charity Commission website

The Trust’s office is currently based on the top floor of Margetts (the Trust’s agricultural advisers), where all its records are kept. Some home working would be practical.
The role has some flexibility in hours, but there will be certain times, such as Trustee meetings that are fixed. A candidate who is able to be available for some time each day would be beneficial, as often matters need to be progressed without too much delay.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic & Operational Leadership
· Lead the day-to-day running and strategic direction of the charity in line with the Board’s vision.

About Us
Action Village India (AVI) is a small UK based organisation that since 1989, has been supporting Indian partner organisations who work alongside villagers in some of the most remote parts of rural India so they can improve their lives, livelihoods and resilience. We work towards an India which is just, fair and inclusive, where all people regardless of sex, gender identity, ethnicity, caste, religion can benefit from the country’s economic development and lift themselves out of poverty.
At the heart of our work, are our partnerships; many of which have spanned decades. Our partner organisations are led by Indians and whether these are large or small organisations, or social movements, all work directly at the grassroots level across rural India – from Bihar and Jharkhand in the North, in Odisha and down to Tamil Nadu in the South. The communities they work with, are some of the poorest in India. They are experts in their fields and work hand in hand with local people to design and inform projects to best serve their local communities and secure rights and social justice for women, men and children.
We accompany our partners for the long term, solidarity with our partners and their communities is at the core of how we work. This means we have developed relationships over the years, based on mutual respect, reciprocity and transparency. We are not governed by donor funding cycles and agendas but are led by our partners and the needs they identify and are committed to shared learning and collaboration. We keep our UK costs to a minimum with core staff and rely on an active and engaged set of Trustees, volunteers and supporters. Both staff and Trustees of Action Village India have relationships with staff from our partner organisations, created through ongoing dialogue, partner and community visits and participation in learning forums.

- Salary: £30,000 pro rata
- Hours: 14 hours per week (2 days), ideally Wednesday and Thursday
- Strong possibility of increasing to 21 hours (3 days) in future
- Option to work up to 8 additional paid event days per year (e.g. WOMAD), reviewed annually

- Contract: Permanent, subject to successful 6-month probation
- Annual leave: 25 days (pro rata)

Accessibility

Key responsibilities
Fundraising and donor management
- Research, develop and submit fundraising proposals to trusts, foundations and major donors
- Maintain accurate fundraising trackers for applications and reporting deadlines
- Coordinate partner inputs for monitoring and donor reports
- Support the Executive Director with fundraising and reporting to trusts and individuals
Events
- Plan and manage Action Village India events across the year
- Attend fundraising events (including evenings and weekends, as agreed)
- Attend WOMAD festival and support delivery of Action Village India’s stall and presence
Individual giving
- Plan and deliver regular appeals and supporter communications
- Develop new ways to engage supporters and grow individual giving income
- Build strong supporter journeys to retain and deepen engagement
Communications and development
- Create compelling fundraising and supporter communications
- Contribute to newsletters, annual reports and appeals
- Coordinate content for events and exhibitions, including WOMAD
- Work with partners to generate stories, updates and visual content
- Manage organisational content such as leaflets, webpages and reports
- Work closely with the Communications and Administrative Officer on social media and CRM content
Person specification
Essential experience
- Minimum three years’ experience in fundraising (trusts and foundations, events and individual giving)
- Proven success securing funding from UK trusts and foundations
- Strong proposal and report writing skills
- Experience co-organising fundraising events
Knowledge and skills
- Knowledge of UK trusts, foundations and institutional funders
- Understanding of the international development and solidarity sector
- Knowledge of Charity Law, Data Protection and the Fundraising Code of Practice
- Excellent written communication skills for diverse audiences
- Proficiency in Excel
Personal qualities
- Passion for social justice and supporting marginalised communities in India
- Highly organised, self-motivated and able to manage competing priorities
- Comfortable working independently in a small team
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural relationship-building skills
Desirable
- Experience working with NGOs, particularly in Asia and India
- International development experience
- Photoshop and InDesign skills
- Clean driving licence
Other requirements
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends and attend WOMAD (late July)
- Ability to travel to rural India if required
