229 Jobs for the Mental Health sector
About the role:
At Single Homeless Project (SHP), we believe that everyone deserves a place to call home - and the support to make it truly theirs. As a Caseworker in our Tenancy Sustainment Team, you’ll do so much more than help people keep a roof over their heads. You’ll be part of someone’s journey toward stability, growth, and renewed confidence. Whether welcoming someone at the start of their support journey, walking alongside them as they navigate life’s challenges, or supporting them to move on to greater independence, your work will have a lasting impact.
This is a role that develops you as much as it empowers others. Every day brings new opportunities to build trusting relationships, use your creativity to solve real-world problems, and collaborate with a committed team that is shaping the future of housing support across London. You’ll deliver one-to-one, person-led support that enables people to maintain their tenancies, improve their wellbeing, build financial resilience, and engage fully in their communities. Alongside your clients, you’ll draw on a wide network of Single Homeless Project (SHP) and community services to help turn personal goals into meaningful outcomes.
Join us, and you’ll be part of an ambitious, values-led organisation where you’ll grow your skills, stretch your potential, and see the tangible difference your work makes - every single day. Whether you’re just starting out or ready for your next challenge, this is more than a job - it’s a career with purpose.
Caseworker posts are for Mondays - Fridays, 9am to 5pm. Posts involve hybrid work with opportunities to work from home at times. The role includes hybrid working and is based at our office in Kings Cross. There are opportunities to work from home at times.
About you:
- You’re a confident collaborator who builds strong working relationships with colleagues and partner agencies to get the best outcomes for clients.
- You’re organised, proactive and able to balance competing priorities, staying calm and focused when things get busy.
- You know how to help people build greater independence, from strengthening day-to-day living skills to improving financial stability and tackling income, bills, debts or arrears.
- You take a genuinely person-centred approach, listening to what matters to each client, recognising their strengths and aspirations, and shaping support around their individual needs.
- You understand the challenges people experiencing homelessness can face, including navigating housing pathways, and you’re committed to delivering inclusive, respectful support that promotes choice and opportunity.
About us:
We’re London’s leading homelessness charity – and we get things done.
In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.
We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. Every day, we put people first in everything we do, challenging injustice and barriers that keep people from the safety, stability and opportunity they deserve. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.
Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that’s bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.
We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We listen. We learn. And we push forward, together. Because this isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to lead with empathy, spark change, and help build a London where no one is left behind.

About the role:
Weekends can be a particularly important time in supported accommodation. With fewer services open and less structure around the day, having a consistent, trusted member of staff available can make a real difference to someone’s wellbeing, confidence and ability to keep moving forward.
As a Weekend Support Assistant at St John’s Mansions, you’ll provide practical, person-centred support to residents, helping them build the skills and confidence they need to live more independently. Working from agreed support and risk plans, you might help someone manage their money or accommodation, access appointments and community services, develop everyday living skills or stay engaged with activities and goals that matter to them.
You’ll also play an important role in keeping the service safe and well coordinated throughout the weekend. You’ll respond to changing needs, safeguarding concerns and unexpected situations, maintain accurate records and make sure important information is clearly handed over to the wider team. You’ll need to be approachable and compassionate, while also confident in setting boundaries, using your judgement and knowing when concerns need to be escalated.
You’ll join an experienced team where you can develop your knowledge of supported housing, safeguarding, recovery-focused practice and working alongside people experiencing multiple disadvantage, with access to training, supervision and ongoing development.
We have two roles available, 1x 37.5 hrs per week and 1x 22.5 hrs per week. Exact working patterns will be discussed in interview.
About you:
- You can build positive, respectful relationships with people while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
- You’re able to encourage and motivate people to build confidence and independence, rather than simply doing things for them.
- You can stay calm, think clearly and respond appropriately when situations change or become challenging.
- You’re organised and reliable, with the ability to prioritise work, communicate clearly and keep accurate records.
- You understand, or are keen to develop your understanding of, homelessness, mental health, trauma, substance use and the barriers people can face when trying to move forward.

- You’re confident building positive working relationships and partnerships with a range of internal and external services, helping to open up new opportunities for the people we support.
- You understand how to engage, motivate and inspire people experiencing multiple disadvantage, including the barriers that can make participation more difficult, and can create a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
- You’re committed to inclusive practice, creating environments where people from different backgrounds feel respected and able to participate, while maintaining clear and appropriate professional boundaries.

About us
We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re united against suicide.
We’re a suicide prevention charity, on a mission to help people end their misery, not their lives. We run stigma-smashing campaigns, offer loads of digital tools and resources, and run a life-saving helpline - all designed to help people find hope and a way forward. We are - united against suicide.
Don't meet every requirement? We’re still interested.
Research shows that people from marginalised groups – including women, LGBTQ+ people, people from global majority backgrounds, disabled people, and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds – are less likely to apply for a role unless they meet the full criteria. At CALM, we know that skills and potential come in many forms, and that diverse perspectives and lived experience of mental health or suicide can be just as valuable as formal qualifications.
If you're passionate about our mission but your experience doesn't tick every box, we'd still love to hear from you. You could be exactly who we're looking for.
Safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk, both offline and online. We recognise that harm can occur in physical, digital, and virtual environments, and we take our safeguarding responsibilities seriously across all areas of our work.
To help people end their misery, not their lives.
