Job description

We're looking for an experienced trusts and foundations fundraiser to join our ambitious and growing fundraising team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to shape high-value funding opportunities, manage key funder relationships and support the future growth of England and Wales’ leading kinship care charity.

At Kinship, we support relatives and friends who step up to raise children when their parents are unable to do so. Through advice, peer support, research, policy and campaigning, we help kinship families get the recognition and support they need. We are made by and for our community of kinship carers and are committed to creating lasting change for kinship families across England and Wales.

As our Fundraising Manager, you'll play a key role in growing income from trusts, foundations and the National Lottery. You'll develop high-quality funding applications, identify and secure new funding opportunities, steward key funder relationships and help shape the future growth of our fundraising programme. You'll also support and line manage our Senior Fundraising Officer, helping to maximise our fundraising impact and reach.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, values-led organisation and use your fundraising expertise to help ensure kinship carers and the children they raise receive the support and recognition they need.

Key responsibilities

· Research and identify new funding opportunities aligned to Kinship's strategic priorities.

· Develop compelling funding applications, proposals and presentations for trusts, foundations and lottery funders.

· Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective funders.

· Develop and manage a strong funding pipeline and generate new income opportunities.

· Lead stewardship and reporting activity for key funders.

· Support the development of budgets and financial information for applications and proposals.

· Maintain accurate records using Salesforce and other systems.

· Line manage and support the Senior Fundraising Officer.

· Act as an ambassador for Kinship and its work.

Why join us?

At Kinship, our vision is a society in which kinship carers and the children they care for are recognised, valued and supported. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive and bring their authentic selves to work. We offer flexible working, learning and development opportunities, employee wellbeing support and the chance to be part of a passionate, values-led team making a real difference to families across England and Wales.

Essential skills and experience

· Demonstrable success securing six-figure funding from trusts and foundations and the National Lottery.

· Experience building a strong funding pipeline and generating new leads.

· Excellent written communication and bid-writing skills.

· Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.

· Experience maintaining accurate records using a CRM system.

· Strong numeracy skills, including budget development and financial management.

· Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to evidence need and impact.

· Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

· Enthusiasm for collaborative working and the ability to build strong relationships across teams.

Desirable

· Line management experience.

· Experience working within a children's social care or social care charity.

· Experience using Salesforce.

· Marketing and communications experience.

· Personal experience of kinship care.

Key dates

Application deadline: 9:00am on Monday 2 November 2026

Interviews:

· First-stage interviews will be held online.

· Second-stage interviews for shortlisted candidates will be held in person at our London HQ.

We will shortlist and interview on a rolling basis and reserve the right to close applications early should we identify the right candidate before the closing date. Early applications are strongly encouraged.
