Vacancy: Day Care Officer – Age UK Camden Day Care Centres

- We currently have an opening for: Day Care Officer (Permanent, Part-Time, Hampstead)

- Hours: 25 hours per week, normally worked as 5-hour shifts, Monday to Friday. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required, for which Time Off in Lieu will apply.

- Location: primarily based at Hampstead site

- Contract: Permanent 

- Salary:  For this role it is £19,240 per annum (pro rata, based on an FTE salary of £26,936 for a 35-hour week, including London Weighting)

About Our Centre’s

Our Day Care Centres – Great Croft in King’s Cross and Henderson Court in Hampstead – offer a vibrant, supportive environment for older people with complex needs, including people living with dementia. We provide:

What You’ll Do

As a Day Care Officer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing of older people. You will:

  • Lead and support group activities such as arts and crafts, music, quizzes, reminiscence sessions, and gentle chair-based exercise
  • Assist with toileting and personal care, including supporting mobility and maintaining the individual’s dignity and independence.
  • Support and assist with nutrition and hydration, ensuring the individuals dietary and fluid needs are met safely.
  • Support clients with dementia, using person-centred approaches to reduce anxiety and encourage participation
  • Help with daily operations, including setting up activity spaces, serving meals, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment
  • Act as a key worker for individual clients to build trusting relationships, monitor wellbeing, and liaise with families and professionals
  • Contribute to care planning and record-keeping

No specific formal qualifications or previous experience are required. However, applicants should have an interest in and ability to support older people with complex needs, including providing person-centered support.

Location & Travel

Staff can be required to work across both centers, so the ability to travel to both King’s Cross and Hampstead is essential.
