About Refugee Action

We are a national charity with more than 40 years’ experience of empowering people who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes to secure the protection and support that they need to live with dignity and respect and build a new life in the UK. We do this by providing expert advice and casework, building the capacity of partner organisations and campaigning on the policies that affect them.

To succeed in the role you will need to demonstrate:

  • Commitment to removing barriers to power for people with lived experience, and commitment to anti-racist practices.
  • Understanding of how the UK’s hostile refugee protection and asylum system impacts those affected by it.
  • Experience of managing fundraising databases at a senior level, such as Raiser’s Edge or similar, with the ability to complete a broad range of database-related tasks with accuracy and speed.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection, including the General Data Protection Regulation and relevant income processing regulations.
  • Experience of setting up and maintaining effective database systems, including managing complex importing and exporting.
  • Experience of building fundraising segmentations and data selections to support the delivery of offline mailings and e-communications.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and experience in data cleaning, transformation, analysing and interpreting findings, drawing out actionable insights to optimise engagement and financial results.
  • Willingness to develop and apply Power BI skills, with foundational experience of dashboards, visual reporting or data modelling considered an advantage
  • Experience in financial reporting and reconciliation processes.
  • Experience leading and managing a data and insights team, coaching individuals to reach their goals and objectives.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information about data to an audience without the same level of data skills.
  • Ability to record and interpret information accurately, with very good attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to deliver to agreed schedules.

Those with lived experience as a refugee are particularly encouraged to apply

Closing date: 23:59 on 23 August 2026

Interview date: 1 September 2026 (via Zoom)

Note: Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis, so early applications are strongly encouraged. We may contact suitable candidates before the closing date, as we are looking for the role to start as soon as possible. Applicants will be informed if their interview takes place at an earlier date.
