Membership Manager
At GamLEARN, we are a UK-wide, lived-experience-led charity supporting people affected by gambling-related harm, including individuals in recovery, families and impacted others. Through peer support, education, training and community engagement, we help people rebuild their lives while ensuring lived experience shapes services, policy and practice.
As our Membership Manager, you will lead the growth and development of our national lived-experience network, which already brings together more than 500 members across the UK. You will help people connect, feel supported and remain engaged, while creating opportunities for members to develop their skills, contribute their experiences and progress into training, participation and leadership roles.
You will play a central role in building an inclusive, welcoming membership community, strengthening referral pathways and ensuring members can participate safely and meaningfully in GamLEARN's activities.
What you will be doing
- Leading membership recruitment, onboarding and retention, helping to grow and sustain our national lived-experience network.
- Managing membership referrals from individuals, statutory services and voluntary and community organisations, working with colleagues to support timely engagement.
- Coordinating online, hybrid and in-person peer connection activities, meetings and opportunities for members to engage with one another.
- Developing pathways for members to progress into training, volunteering, paid opportunities and wider participation.
- Supporting members to contribute to advisory groups, research, consultations, policy discussions and leadership opportunities.
- Ensuring membership is inclusive and accessible, reaching underrepresented communities and people who may face barriers to support.
- Working with our Communications Manager to develop newsletters, outreach activities and campaigns that strengthen member engagement.
- Supporting members and facilitators through appropriate preparation, reflective practice and wellbeing arrangements.
- Building relationships with external organisations and partners to improve referral pathways and opportunities for members.
- Monitoring membership engagement, referral quality and feedback to help improve the experience and outcomes for our members.
What we are looking for
We are interested in hearing from candidates who have:
- Personal lived experience of gambling-related harm, either directly or as an impacted other, such as a family member, partner or someone close to a person affected.
- Experience engaging and supporting members, volunteers or communities through employment, volunteering or community involvement.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to listen sensitively and build trust.
- Experience coordinating recruitment, onboarding or ongoing engagement within a membership or community setting.
- Experience organising or facilitating groups, meetings or community activities.
- The ability to support individuals sensitively, recognising different circumstances, wellbeing needs and readiness to participate.
- An understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries when working with vulnerable individuals or sensitive information.
Why join us?
You will be joining GamLEARN at an important stage of our development, following the award of statutory gambling levy funding to strengthen our services and reach.
This is an opportunity to shape the future of a growing national membership network, ensuring people affected by gambling harm have a voice, feel connected and can access meaningful opportunities to develop and contribute.
We offer 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, an additional birthday day off, access to an employer pension scheme, free counselling support and an online GP service.
Our team works remotely across the UK, with a strong commitment to collaboration, inclusion, professional development and wellbeing.
