Job description

Are you a personable, confident and client focused Resourcing/HR professional seeking a leadership role?

About the role

This is exciting opportunity offers the chance to genuinely make a difference, by leading an internal team of 12 who help St Mungo’s to meet its growing talent needs, supporting work that really changes and rebuilds lives.

In this busy and varied role you will:

  • Lead and manage the Resourcing Team to ensure that they are motivated, coached and supported to perform to a high standard.
  • Lead on the implementation of St Mungo’s Recruitment and Selection strategy, other resourcing and workforce planning activities and to manage our processes, to ensure we attract and recruit only the very highest calibre of staff.
  • Oversee St Mungo’s approach in relation to contingent labour (locum and agency use), keeping under review to ensure that we are operating in the most cost effective and efficient way, while ensuring the highest quality of staff.
  • Work as a strategic and senior Resourcing Partner on ad hoc and senior appointments.
  • Ensure that a high quality, responsive, reliable and proactive Resourcing service is provided to all internal customers.
  • Undertake relevant Resourcing & HR projects and initiatives, working with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure that matters of strategic importance are progressed.

You will be based in our London Head Office, although there is scope for flexibility in terms of working from home and working hours.  There will however, be regular travel required (at least once a month) to provide face to face support for a team member based in South West in order to supplement the remote support they receive. 

What we’re looking for

The successful candidate will be CIPD qualified, with a good working knowledge of resourcing best practice and experience of managing staff and financial resources. In order to excel in this busy role you will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing tasks including reactive and longer term objectives as well as excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify and present complex information clearly and in different forms for different audiences and purposes.

You will have a good ability to identify improvements to systems and processes, and the diligence and determination to work through others to ensure changes are effectively delivered.  The ability to work with and influence people at all levels of the organisation, and give clear, evidence based practical advice to managers and Directors is important for this role.

Flexible Working and Other Benefits

We are committed to maintaining your work/life balance. We offer 25 days annual leave, and operate a very popular Flexi Time scheme, which allows you to supplement your annual leave entitlement. After 5 years, staff annual leave entitlement increases to 28 days.

St Mungo’s contribute 4% of your gross annual salary, and you are able to enrol in the Defined Contribution scheme following a successful probationary period in which the employer contribution is 6%.

At St Mungo’s our vision is that everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions. As a homelessness charity and housing association, our clients are at the heart of what we do, and in 2019 we supported nearly 30,000 people who were either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Our staff are crucial to making this happen.

In addition to over 1,400 employees, we also rely on the services of 300 casual (locum) workers and agency staff to cover shifts. In the face of continuing external pressures, it is important for St Mungo’s to maximise efficiencies in the usage of agency and bank staff.
