Job description

We're looking for two compassionate and motivated Mental Health Support Workers to join our High Support Mental Health Services in Hackney, where you'll support customers with a history of serious mental illness to achieve their goals, build resilience and move towards greater independence.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference every day, working alongside people to support their recovery journey through person-centred, trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches.

What you’ll do

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you'll work closely with customers to develop personalised support plans that promote recovery, wellbeing and independence. You'll also:

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with customers and support them to achieve their goals.
  • Complete support plans, risk assessments and reviews in a recovery-focused and trauma-informed way.
  • Help customers maximise their income, access benefits and manage their finances.
  • Support customers to develop independent living skills and sustain their housing.
  • Work collaboratively with health professionals, social care teams and other partner agencies.
  • Encourage medication self-management and support healthier lifestyles.
  • Maintain accurate records, contribute to achieving service outcomes and identify/respond appropriately to safeguarding, welfare and risk concerns.

What you’ll need

We're looking for someone who is passionate about supporting people with mental health needs and helping them thrive. You'll be kind, empathetic and genuinely motivated to improve people's lives. You’re a customer-focused individual, an effective communicator who can work confidently with customers, colleagues and external agencies. You’ll also have:

  • Experience supporting people with mental health needs, vulnerable adults, or those facing multiple and complex challenges.
  • Knowledge of recovery-focused and trauma-informed practice.
  • Strong communication, report-writing and IT skills.
  • A caring, empathetic and non-judgemental approach.
  • The resilience to work in a busy and emotionally demanding environment.
  • Confidence working independently, including lone working when required.
  • An understanding of safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

If you're passionate about empowering people, promoting recovery, and making a lasting impact, we'd love to hear from you.
