THE ROLE
We are seeking a visionary educational content writer and high-impact Senior Lead to maintain the quality of our world-class educational programmes. Working in collaboration with our programmes team, and leveraging the journalistic excellence of The Economist Group, you will define the standard for global news education.
In this fixed-term role, you won't just create lessons; you will engineer innovative, nuanced, discussion-based frameworks that challenge children to master complex global topics and build essential critical-thinking and communication skills. RESPONSIBILITIES
Design world-class classroom resources
Research, pitch and execute sophisticated lesson plans that distill the world's biggest issues into diverse, nuanced and rich learning experiences
Set the benchmark for quality by writing, editing and proofreading high-impact teaching resources
Collaborate with our Graphic Designer to ensure our content is as visually compelling as it is intellectually rigorous
Apply our house style, pedagogical approach and editorial voice consistently across all content
Programme leadership and innovation
Proactively analyse shifts in global curricula and educational trends to ensure our products remain the market leader
Craft high-level website copy and teacher-facing materials that articulate the unique value of our programmes
Conduct school visits to observe, evaluate and occasionally model the delivery of Topical Talk lessons
Partner with the Director of Programmes to implement rigorous monitoring and evaluation frameworks which track and scale programme success

End-to-end execution of student workshops and events, from the idea-generation stage to writing, proofreading, delivery and evaluation
Deliver expert-led training that empowers teachers to maximise the impact of our resources
Strategic relationship management
Work at the highest level with The Economist’s journalists to translate complex global issues into engaging educational content
Identify and interview world-leading topic experts to enrich our work with unique insights
Manage complex timelines and stakeholder expectations with precision to ensure all milestones are met
This role will involve some travel. It also involves working with young people, so you will need to have an enhanced DBS check (which The Foundation will organise).

Change lives in a life-changing career
When a child or young person is diagnosed with cancer, their whole world can feel like it’s falling apart. Independence is taken and confidence is stolen. Stability no longer exists. The future suddenly feels uncertain.
The impact of cancer on young lives is more than medical. And that impact can be felt by entire family. That’s why we exist. Our specialist social workers help children and young people with cancer and their families navigate the emotional and practical impact of cancer.
We remove barriers, solve problems and prioritise wellbeing. And we stop at nothing to make their voices heard and their unique needs understood, so they can get the right care and support at the right time
About the role
We’re looking for a London Marathon Officer to join Young Lives vs Cancer and help deliver an exceptional experience for Team Young Lives vs Cancer runners, supporters and volunteers at the 2027 Double TCS London Marathon.
This is an unprecedented, one-off event year and one of our biggest fundraising opportunities – so we’re looking for someone who’s ready to play a hands-on role in making it a huge success.
This fixed-term role sits in our Sports and Challenge Events team, working closely with the Sports and Challenge Events Portfolio Manager to steward our marathon fundraisers, build strong supporter relationships and keep our communities motivated across email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp, post and social channels.
You’ll also support event delivery, including registration and training systems, fundraising materials, income checks, volunteer coordination and race-week logistics. We’re looking for someone organised, proactive and confident juggling priorities in a busy events environment.
You’ll need to be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends, with additional office attendance in Bristol and London ahead of the event and availability during London Marathon week in April 2027 (20th to 25th April).
