Position: Assistant Key Worker, Women’s Community Project
Location: The role is based at Alana House in Reading, our Alana House service covers the communities of Berkshire, Oxford City and South Oxfordshire and travel may be required across all locations.
Contract: Permanent full time – 37 hours per week Monday to Friday.
Working pattern to be agreed within the hours of: Mon and Tues 8.30am-5pm | Weds 8.30am-7pm | Thurs 8.30am-5pm | Fri 8.30am-4pm

Alana House is PACT’s flagship community project that uses a holistic approach to support and empower women. About the role:
As an Assistant Key Worker, you will work closely with the Alana House team to support service delivery and help create a welcoming and safe environment. You will focus on developing practical skills, actively supporting clients while learning best practice and building your experience through a range of learning opportunities to help you to grow in the role.
No day is the same at Alana House and your activities may include:
· Responding to phone calls and welcoming visitors to the service

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Outreach & Engagement
· Lead on the planning and delivery of outreach activity (such as stalls and interactive activities) to promote the Students’ Union (specifically the Academic Experience Team’s) services, helping students understand what support is available to them.
· Build relationships with external charities and organisations, coordinating their involvement in on-campus outreach activity to raise awareness of support services relevant to students.
· Develop creative, inclusive approaches to increase student awareness and participation, particularly among students who may not usually engage.
· Collaborate with the Representation Coordinator, Community Events Team, and School & Student Community Organisers (SCOs) to design and deliver outreach that raises awareness of key academic and student issues, including initiatives for awareness weeks and heritage months.
· Monitor impact by monitoring attendance and engagement, in addition to gathering feedback to understand what worked well and continuously improve future outreach.
Induction & Student Transition
· Support the Academic Experience Manager in booking and coordinating SU induction talks for the start of each Semester.
· Deliver engaging induction talks and sessions to help new students understand how they can get involved and shape their academic experience.
· Ensure students are aware of key opportunities such as becoming a Student Rep and how to share feedback with the SU.
· Collect feedback on induction sessions and use this to improve content and delivery for future students.
Student Representation Support
· Support the delivery of Student Representative recruitment & training, helping reps understand their role and how to represent student views effectively.
· Work with Reps throughout the year to keep them engaged, confident, and active in their role, by hosting drop-in sessions and forums.
· Support the administration of Student Representation, helping students share feedback and ensuring it is used to inform improvements.
· Support the planning, organisation and delivery of School Student Forums and attendance at Programme Academic Experience Groups (PAEGs).
· Support the Academic Experience Team with day-to-day administration, including monitoring shared inboxes, responding to student queries, and helping ensure timely communication with Student Representatives.
Communicating Student Voice
· Work collaboratively with the Marketing Team and Representation Coordinator to develop and deliver regular reporting on student voice activity, including showcasing the impact of work led by Student Reps and SCOs
· Work in partnership with the Advice and Insight teams to support the effective use of student feedback mechanisms, including:
o Coordinating the collation and organisation of student submissions

Supporting The Wider SU Team
· Harness and maintain good working relationships with all colleagues across the SU, working as collaboratively as possible on all projects where appropriate.

About the Role
We're hiring a Engagement Worker to join our team based in within a Men’s Housing Accommodation Support Service (HASS) residential service in the Catford area. The project provides 6-bed supported accommodation for men with complex needs, including mental health challenges, offending histories, trauma, homelessness, and social exclusion. The service operates within a psychologically informed environment (PIE) and is delivered by a mixed-gender staff team, working closely together to provide consistent, relational support.
You will support within the Offender Personality Disorder Housing Accommodation to support in successfully rehabilitating and reintegrating our residents back into the community. The service delivers support for people in the criminal justice system who are deemed high risk, and likely to meet criteria for personality disorder. Penrose OPD HASS service offers specialist accommodation to people with high risk/high needs and require intensive support to overcome barriers to resettlement and progress towards independent living in the community. You will assist with those who have recently been released from prison, secure health settings, or are transitioning from Approved Premises. Your work will be guided by co-produced support plans, developed in partnership with each individual to reflect their goals and circumstances.

We have developed Vocational Support Services for those exploring careers both in and outside of sex industries and we run a Racial Justice project and Youth Justice project that makes visible the lived experiences of harm among racialised and young (18-25) sex workers towards systems change.
NUM values those with lived experience in sex industries and work with them to shape services and responses, conduct research, develop education packages, and participate in policy advocacy to change the conditions that lead to survival sex work, gain rights and recognition, and improve the safety of UK-based sex workers.
Background and Responsibilities:
The casework team is at the heart of NUM. We provide vital support from assistance through the criminal justice journey to essential emergency financial support. We are looking for a Casework Team Lead to lead our casework team. If you are driven, have a keen eye for detail, can effectively motivate others in a demanding and emotive area of work with the ability to support people in an empathetic and trauma informed way then this could be the role for you.
This role will specifically focus on the day-to-day running of the casework team alongside carrying your own caseload. The work involves utilising and monitoring our digital platform and CMS maintaining and monitoring the documentation of cases and coordinating responses to ensure sex workers received the high standard of support they deserve, to prevent and recover from violence as well as seek justice and recourse. The Victim Support Casework Team Lead is responsible for maintaining high standards for all digital, individualised and in-person support provided by the casework team. All responsibilities can be grouped under five umbrella categories. The successful candidate will evidence suitability for the role based on the strength areas below:
1) Management: Manage the operations and administration associated with victim and vocational support casework.
2) Leadership: Lead and motivate the team of national case workers towards service excellence. The best leaders can also be led. The successful candidate will value the lived and learned experiences on the casework team and ensure that everyone works to their strengths and strives for the best outcomes for sex workers.
3) High Standards: Support good performance and quality outcomes for sex workers.
4) Creative and Innovative: Ability to strategise and problem-solve. Sex workers experience forms of violence before and after accessing support. At NUM, our principle of 'Sex Workers First' means that we work with them to achieve the outcomes that they desire. Sex workers are in control of their healing and recovery, and it will be the successful candidate's job to ensure that lives are improved as a result of contact with NUM.
5) Well-being Focused: Provide care for the health, safety and welfare of the case work team and the sex workers we serve.
Day-to-day tasks include but are not limited to the following.
Managing your own caseload, providing individualised support to sex workers alongside your leadership role ensuring that sex workers are put at the forefront of all services offered. Maintaining our high standard of support.
Continued monitoring and development of the NUM platform backend functions to find efficiencies and boost productivity. Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on new policies and service priorities, new platforms/ procedures, and new innovations or services.
Problem-solving to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the casework team eg, managing resource and rota’s including leave and absences, delegation of task where appropriate to the casework team.
Audit overview and quarterly reporting to Operations Manager with responsibility for data management and the production of case studies.
External communications with practitioners to ensure best practice of utilising NUM service, promoting NUM membership where possible and attending external meetings as a NUM representative where required.
Host or contribute to the ongoing meetings of the National ISVA/SWISVA forum and continue to foster useful and productive spaces for SWISVAs (specialist sex work ISVA’s) throughout the UK to share experiences, insights towards delivering quality support services to sex workers with maintaining high service standards and prioritising self-care.
Deliver weekly operations meetings, keep them short and concise to discuss operational updates NUM wide/internal. Analyse statistics and case work trends and discuss any issues or take aways with the Operations Manager to inform Casework Team strategy.
Communicate and collaborate with other work streams and projects at NUM. Contribute to organisational priorities and support initiatives that strengthen National Ugly Mugs’ overall impact.
Lead 1-2-1 check-ins and appraisals with staff, acknowledging individual and team success in appropriate ways, motivating the team and resolving conflict and managing team dynamics (with support where needed).
Onboard and train new members of the casework team.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Skills and Experience
Demonstrable casework skills, with experience in delivering advice, information, emotional and practical support and advocacy in partnership with health, wellbeing and criminal justice outcomes for individuals who may have experienced traumatic events.
Experience managing a team, providing line management support, and managing rotas and team resources.
An understanding of coordination responsibilities and the requirements of middle management in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
Qualified ISVA or relevant casework support experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with multiple partners on complex cases.
Excellent administrative and organisation skills, able to manage both your own and other people’s workloads effectively.
An understanding of Equal Opportunities, the diversity of sex workers and the impact of criminalisation, stigma, and marginalisation on sex workers and a team comprising those with lived experience.
Effective communication skills and the ability to deliver training, guidance, advice and support to a diverse range of stakeholders to promote best practice in relation to supporting sex workers when they’re victims of crime.
Experience of using online communication tools, CMS (Oasis), google workspace, MS suite, slack and other digital platforms to maximise efficiency and productivity of your own casework and that of the casework team.
Experience of dealing with internal and external complaints and having difficult conversations.
Strong empathic and active listening skills.
Willingness to undertake continued professional development.
Desirable:
Experience of the sex work community.
Experience completing detailed reports on workstream productivity, both statistically and in written form.
The ability to understand local, regional and national policy and evidence-based research in relation to community safety, health and social inclusion.
Ability in languages other than English is beneficial but not required.

Supporting Young People
• Act as the first point of contact for people experiencing homelessness and referral partners, providing advice and signposting
• Conduct needs and risk assessments with potential Nightstop guests

My Journey from Volunteer to Manager
When I moved to the UK in 2013, I joined the charity through a one-year European Voluntary Service placement, supporting vulnerable and homeless young people in a drop-in café. It didn't take long for me to connect with the organisation's mission and values, and I quickly realised that I wanted to build my career in an organisation dedicated to making a real difference.
They recognised not only my commitment but also my background in social work and passion for supporting others. At the end of my volunteering placement, I secured a role as a Nightstop Project Worker, where I spent four years delivering emergency accommodation services across 12 local authority areas and training volunteers who played a vital role in supporting young people in crisis.
One of the charity’s greatest strengths is its commitment to developing its people. Throughout my career, I was encouraged to expand my skills through leadership and management training, while being given the trust and autonomy to take on new challenges. This investment in my growth led to promotions first to Prevention Services Manager for the North East and Cumbria, and later to National Prevention Services Manager.

About the role
This is a great chance to be a part of a service working alongside the Healthcare & Education Department within HMP Bronzefield to identify and support women who are identified as being neurodiverse or presenting with symptoms of neurodiversity and will be returning to the community. The Neurodiversity Lead will focus support on women with a neurodivergent need and improve their transition into the community, with ongoing community support; including collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop their support plans.
The Lead will work in a multi-disciplinary way, including attending the weekly complex case meeting and/or the Safety Intervention Meeting (SIM) as appropriate, they will act as a specialist member of the wider Advance Criminal Justice Service - London team, to facilitate a pathway for women with complex needs including mental health and neurodiversity needs. The Neurodiversity Lead will accept referrals from the Advance Criminal Justice Community team and prison services, and will create a link between prison and the community, helping women to navigate support services and to positively re-integrate into their community upon release. They will co-design a person-centred support and action plan with women accessing support, enabling to support them to address their needs and any risks. The role will combine a casework- based approach, along with a signposting and advice service for the women.
The Neurodiversity Lead will be based in the community and will provide a drop-in service (1-2 day per week) in HMP Bronzefield to support women who are close to release.
