Responsibilities and Person Specification:
The Stories and Participation Officer is a fundamental cross-organisational role. Working directly with older people in financial hardship, the role will source, capture and collaborate to share stories, advice and insights from older people, whilst maintaining the highest level of stewardship and safeguarding for this group and supporting organisation wide participation activity.
Reporting into the Participation Manager, you will work champion and deliver meaningful involvement and authentic storytelling to ensure that the experiences of older people are at the centre of Independent Age’s work. You will ensure that participation processes maintain and develop our storytelling expertise and follow good-practice in the sector. The role will recruit and induct older people on a low income to our Lived Experience Network, alert them to opportunities to get involved in shaping and informing Independent Age’s work, facilitate two-way engagement, and work with willing members of the network to share their lived experience and insights, including sharing their story on public and private platforms.
You will need exceptional organisational skills and the ability to proactively drive lived experience work and effective storytelling. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills are essential, along with knowledge of best practice in supporting and co-ordinating lived experience participation including online and offline events, groups and meetings to create listening spaces.

About the role

About you
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive person. You will have good knowledge of homelessness policy and practice, strong written and spoken communication skills, including report writing, and the ability to collate and present quantitative and qualitative information. You will have excellent digital and IT skills, including Microsoft 365, Excel and Word, with the ability to adopt and apply AI-enabled productivity tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot or equivalent) to improve ways of working.
You will also be confident in building relationships and working in partnership with shelters, day services, churches, community projects, funders, and other stakeholders.
About the role
The successful candidate will provide essential operational, administrative and coordination support to the Faith and Community Development Team, working closely with the London Partnerships and Development Lead. About the role
The People Coordinator provides high‑quality coordination and day‑to‑day delivery across Saferworld’s people function, supporting staff and managers throughout the employee lifecycle. You will be a key point of contact for HR coordination, staff wellbeing and employee experience, helping ensure our recruitment, onboarding, systems, policies and people processes run smoothly and effectively.
This role blends operational HR support with systems and process coordination. You will help maintain accurate people data, strengthen ways of working, support organisational wellbeing initiatives and contribute to a positive, values driven culture.
Key responsibilities
Employee Lifecycle Coordination
- Lead end‑to‑end coordination of recruitment, onboarding, induction, probation, contract changes, leave processes and exits.
- Prepare job adverts, arrange interviews, support shortlisting and manage candidate communication.
- Coordinate induction arrangements and deliver a quarterly global induction programme.
- Maintain accurate HR documentation, trackers and staff files, ensuring timely and compliant processes.
- Review and improve lifecycle processes to enhance efficiency, consistency and staff experience.
- Administer staff benefit schemes and coordinate annual renewals.
Staff Wellbeing, Engagement and Employee Relations
- Act as a first point of contact for HR, wellbeing and employee experience queries.
- Coordinate wellbeing initiatives and support continuous improvement of our wellbeing offer.
- Work with the Head of People to manage external wellbeing providers and workshops.
- Support staff engagement activities and work collaboratively with staff representatives.
- Provide first‑line employee relations support and coordinate casework, ensuring accurate records.
- Support parental leave, keep‑in‑touch arrangements and other employee experience processes.
HR Systems, Processes and Policy Support
- Maintain People systems (including Cascade), ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
- Coordinate people data, monthly reporting and routine updates.
- Support development and rollout of People policies, templates and guidance.
- Manage wellbeing and People content on SharePoint and internal platforms.
- Provide content for staff communications, including monthly people updates.
- Support implementation of audit recommendations and process improvements.
Payroll, Compliance and People Operations
- Work closely with Finance to ensure payroll changes are captured accurately and on time.
- Support preparation and checking of final pay and employee change documentation.
- Help ensure compliance with Saferworld policies, standards and employment legislation.
- Monitor deadlines and coordinate routine People activities, including contract administration, leave tracking and training records.
- Support procurement and administration linked to wellbeing and people initiatives.
Learning, Coordination and Cross‑Organisational Support
- Support identification of learning and development needs and coordinate training activities.
- Build strong working relationships across country programmes and global teams.
- Contribute to People projects, organisational priorities and improvements to staff experience.
- Provide flexible support to wider team priorities as required.

The Woodland Trust is looking for a Site Manager - North to join us. This role will be responsible for approximately 30 Woodland Trust Sites in the Eastern part of North Yorkshire. This includes Scar and Castlebeck, a large SSSI woodland in the heart of the North York Moors and Robson Spring- a Plantation Ancient Woodland Site close to Helmsley, and a well distributed portfolio of Woodland Trust sites across the rest of the county.
The Role:
- Lead the sustainable management of a diverse portfolio of high-profile woodland sites, including ancient woodland, designated habitats, veteran trees and secondary woodland, ensuring compliance with the UK Woodland Assurance Standard.
- Develop, implement and review long-term woodland management plans, using woodland condition assessments and monitoring data to drive conservation and operational outcomes.
- Plan, procure and manage woodland works programmes, including preparing specifications, tendering contracts and monitoring contractor performance on site.
- Create safe, welcoming woodland environments by carrying out tree safety inspections, risk assessments and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
- Deliver annual work programmes and budgets across multiple sites, overseeing woodland management activities, financial performance and grant funding opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with local communities, stakeholders, partners and public bodies, promoting positive engagement and supporting the Trust's reputation and objectives.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across forestry, engagement, communications and fundraising teams to deliver projects, secure funding and achieve strategic goals.
- Recruit, support and inspire volunteers, while acting as an ambassador for the organisation through events, site visits and public engagement activities that raise awareness of woodland conservation.
- This is a homebased role, requiring regular travel to locations across the North, sometimes to remote locations. You would be expected to live within reasonable travelling distance of your area of responsibility. Occasional travel to regional offices and overnight stays will be required.
- A company vehicle will be provided for this role. Please note that our Company Vehicle Policy is under review as part of our Job Families and Contract Review project, so eligibility criteria may change.
The Candidate:
- Proven experience in forestry, conservation, land management or a related sector, with responsibility for managing woodlands and sites of high conservation value.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, managing multiple workstreams, budgets, resources and reporting requirements to achieve successful outcomes.
- Experience procuring, managing and monitoring contracts and contractors, including developing specifications, tendering works and overseeing delivery on site.
- Strong knowledge of woodland ecology, forestry legislation and best-practice woodland management, including dealing with tree pests, diseases and invasive non-native species.
- Experience working with deer management programmes, government agencies and regulatory bodies to deliver conservation objectives, secure grants and obtain statutory consents.
- Sound understanding of health and safety management in outdoor and remote working environments, including tree safety inspections, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Effective people leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, volunteers and external partners.
- Relevant qualification in forestry, land management or a related discipline (HND, degree or equivalent experience)
- Full UK Driving License and willingness to travel around the required region.

The Deputy Fitness Centre Manager is a role that is largely based on site (80:20 split) and the post holder will work a minimum of 14 hours per week at front of house, leading delivery.
