About the Role
We are recruiting for Energy & Retrofit Advisors.
Energy and Retrofit Advisors will provide energy and retrofit advice to homes across the region as part of the North East Warm Homes programme. Focussing on the private rented sector Advisors will work alongside staff within Local Authorities to develop and deliver support to engage our communities and stimulate retrofit activity.
Groundwork’s Greener Living team is growing, and we’re looking for passionate and community-minded Energy & Retrofit Advisors to join us as part of the North East Warm Homes Programme.
In this exciting role, you’ll help households across the North East improve energy efficiency, reduce fuel poverty, and access retrofit opportunities. You’ll work closely with Local Authorities, community organisations, and Groundwork’s Green Doctors to deliver advice, engagement activities, and practical support to residents — particularly within the private rented sector.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in tackling climate change and supporting vulnerable households, while developing your career in sustainability and retrofit advice. Although this is a fixed-term post, there’s potential for extension and professional growth within our expanding Greener Living team.

About the Service
The Complex Needs Housing Service works as a multi-disciplinary team with housing teams and Drug and Alcohol Services across District and Borough councils. These teams will be working with individuals who are presenting as homeless and have a number of Complex Needs. The service has been running since 2022 with a dual-district model, however, is now expanding to offer a single district outreach service.
We have roles available in the service in the following areas:
East Herts – supporting individuals who are homeless, in temporary accommodation or hostels in the district with their mental health
St. Albans – supporting individuals who are homeless, in temporary accommodation or hostels in the district with their mental health
Hertsmere – supporting individuals who are homeless, in temporary accommodation or hostels in the district with their mental health
South & West Hertfordshire – supporting women who have fled domestic abuse and currently residing in refuge/safe accommodation in the area with their mental health
North & East Hertfordshire – supporting women who have fled domestic abuse and currently residing in refuge/safe accommodation in the area with their mental health
