This role will focus on improving access to specialist support for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse in Wandsworth — particularly those with insecure immigration status and other communities who are often under‑represented or unseen by services.

You will strengthen community referral pathways, lead our One Stop Shops, and work closely with local partners to ensure survivors can reach safety. You’ll also line‑manage a team of IDVAs, supporting high‑quality, survivor‑centred practice. London Black Women's Project works with Black and minoritised, i.e. Global Majority, women and children who are survivors of domestic violence and abuse, providing refuge and dispersed accommodation services, with wraparound support, including intensive casework, counselling and legal advice. 

We are recruiting for a full-time Caseworker and a part-time Caseworker: Child Specialist to work across our refuges based in Haringey, as well as sessional/freelance Caseworkers to support us when we require short term cover.

You will join a busy, passionate team who are committed to providing high quality casework advice and support for women and children across our refuges, as well as safe, welcoming accommodation and associated services. 

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll manage the day-to-day running of a refuge, including health and safety checks, facilities management, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment for all residents. This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Deputy Service Manager to support survivors who have been impacted by domestic abuse. We are recruiting for a Deputy Service Manager who is passionate about supporting survivors who are impacted by domestic abuse. In this role you will provide line management and support to community-based staff who support survivors of domestic abuse across Derby City.  This will include providing supervision on complex casework, overseeing operational emergencies and ensuring high standards of casework.

The Deputy service manager will join our management team to assist the service manager in the delivery and development of high-quality support to survivors accessing our community-based services in Derby City. In this role you will ensure the smooth running of high-quality service to support survivors of domestic abuse. This will include managing staff teams to ensure effective advocacy is provided to survivors who are at medium/standard risk and their children. 

A key requirement is to provide personal welfare support and to ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive outreach service

Suitable candidates must have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support, and of managing case work. In addition, you must have experience of managing and motivating staff, knowledge of domestic abuse issues, experience of providing support to survivors, and experience of working in community-based services

As a member of the management team, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call service, on a rota basis, responding to out of hours emergencies.

The Senior Economic Empowerment Partnerships Manager is responsible for raising awareness of the growing threat of economic abuse. An experienced project manager with experience of managing services for victims of domestic violence and/or other forms of gender-based violence, the post holder will work with the Heads of Service to implement Refuge’s tech strategy to ensure that Refuge continues to learn about and respond to changing economic developments with a particular focus on technology and victims of domestic abuse.

The post-holder will work across all services and will work closely with the Fundraising Team and Head of Services to develop an economic fundraising strategy to ensure that the role generates income through partnerships and consultancy with the financial sector by raising awareness of economic abuse and technology-facilitated abuse. The post holder will work closely with the Policy Team to feed into legislative asks relating to economic abuse, to better improve responses for survivors both in legislation and in the financial sector. We are looking for candidates with extensive practical experience of supporting a diverse range of victims of domestic violence and/or other forms of gender-based violence. In-depth understanding of economic abuse, and how it is used against women and girls and how this form of abuse is a barrier for women leaving a relationship. Current, up to date knowledge and understanding of the legislation that impacts survivors of economic abuse and in-depth understanding of the needs of survivors and their children impacted by economic abuse.

The Senior Economic Empowerment Partnerships Manager will cultivate a learning culture around economic abuse and help improves outcomes for survivors, improving responses from the financial sector, and raising awareness of economic abuse.

Job Title: Floating Support Worker

Location: Warwickshire

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Floating Support Worker to provide high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse and their children living in our dispersed refuge accommodation in Warwickshire. This service will provide emergency accommodation across Warwickshire with high-quality domestic abuse support, ‘by-and-for’ services for survivors of domestic abuse and their children. 

The post holder will provide high quality support and safety planning to survivors and their children who are fleeing domestic abuse. This includes enabling survivors to access housing, welfare, benefits and legal advice.  A key requirement is to provide personal welfare support and to ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment in accordance with Refuge’s philosophical principles.

The Floating Support Worker (FSW) will carry a caseload of survivors of domestic abuse to enable them to provide a more holistic and intensive support package. They will work closely with survivors from the point of crisis through to move on from the emergency accommodation. FSWs will work in partnership with both statutory and voluntary sector partners to ensure that the whole range of survivors’ needs are met.

As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota.

We are looking for somone who has proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to women as well as up-to-date knowledge of legislation relating to survivors of gender-based violence. The job involves ensuring that women are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options. 

The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors. The job involves informing survivors of the full range of civil, criminal, and practical options that might increase their safety.

The IDVA will provide high quality, trauma informed independent advocacy and support to survivors of domestic abuse, and additionally face multiple disadvantages in accessing support service across Wandsworth. Funded by MOPAC (Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime), this post focuses on improving access to justice, safety and holistic support for individuals affected by domestic abuse, including those navigating the criminal justice system.

We are looking for someone who is passionate, committed and cares about the work Refuge undertakes. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and the impact this has on survivors and their children. They will be able to work under pressure to effectively manage risk and provide needs-led support to clients with a variety of support needs.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

Our family women refuge's offer holistic support in order to empower women and their children who have experienced trauma to lead their recovery and gain the skills and confidence to move on safely. The Team Manager is responsible for the operational running and strategic direction of the refuge. Providing line management and leadership to the staff team, leading on contract and compliance and the safety, security and maintenance of the refuge, ensuring that the building aligns with our PIPE (Psychologically Informed Physical Environment) building standards and rental income is secured. 

The Team Manager plays a central role in ensuring the refuge is a safe, trauma-informed, and welcoming space for women and children fleeing domestic abuse. They promote an inclusive, anti-racist, and feminist approach while upholding Hestia's values of respect, dedication, and collaboration. Core responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day service delivery, ensuring compliance with safeguarding protocols, and facilitating the safe transition of service users. The manager ensures the team delivers high-quality, person-centred support, particularly for individuals with complex or intersectional needs.

In terms of operational and building management, the Team Manager is responsible for maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the refuge in line with health and safety and PIPE (Psychologically Informed Physical Environment) standards. This includes managing relationships with landlords and housing teams, authorising repairs, handling rent collection and arrears, and addressing any security concerns. They also oversee the accurate and timely turnaround of vacant units and uphold positive community relations to ensure the refuge remains a secure and respected environment.

The role also involves leading and developing a high-performing team, ensuring all staff are well-supported through supervision, reflective practice, and training opportunities. The manager upholds staffing levels, supports volunteers and students, and manages performance and conduct issues where necessary. Quality assurance and compliance duties include monitoring performance against KPIs, using systems like INFORM and Power BI, handling feedback and complaints, and ensuring financial accountability. They also represent Hestia in strategic planning, external networks, and multi-agency partnerships to strengthen service delivery and community integration.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. Here's what the team will be looking for

The ideal candidate should possess a solid general education, ideally with Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. They should either hold a SafeLives Service Manager qualification or be willing to work towards it. Experience in supervising staff and delivering high-quality support to individuals with diverse needs and risks is essential, as is a strong understanding of risk assessment and management in domestic abuse contexts. A good grasp of performance monitoring, welfare benefits, housing legislation—particularly the rights of domestic abuse survivors under the Domestic Abuse Act 2021—is also required.

Applicants should demonstrate a strong background in working within domestic abuse services, whether in the community or in a refuge setting. They must understand and value co-production, ensuring services are developed in partnership with those who use them. Effective communication skills are key, along with confidence in using IT systems such as Microsoft Office, Teams, and Power BI. A clear understanding of safeguarding practices and health and safety legislation is crucial, with the ability to implement relevant policies effectively.

The role demands emotional resilience and the ability to work under pressure, especially in crisis situations involving traumatised or vulnerable women and children. A strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practices is essential, as is the ability to work independently within established policies and procedures. Flexibility and the ability to travel within the borough and beyond when required are also necessary for this position.

This is a culturally specific service, and as such, it is a genuine occupational requirement that applicants speak one or more South Asian languages in addition to English.
