Job description

An exciting opportunity to play an important role in transforming the lives of young people at Jamie’s Farm. We are looking for a warm, practical and reflective Garden & Therapeutic Coordinator to join our Lewes team, supporting young people through personalised therapeutic conversations, garden-based group sessions and shared activity in a beautiful farm environment. 

What is Jamie’s Farm? Jamie’s Farm is a charity that supports young people by combining therapeutic work, farming, and purposeful activities to help them thrive. Through residential visits to our working farms, we provide a nurturing environment where young people can reflect, build confidence, and develop the resilience they need to overcome personal challenges. 

Known within the organisation as ‘Garden & Therapeutic Coordinator’ 

More about the role: This is a dynamic, full-time role combining direct work with young people and the development of the kitchen garden at Jamie’s Farm Lewes. 

You will hold personalised therapeutic conversations with up to four young people each week, facilitate reflective group meetings and discussions, communicate with visiting staff about young people’s wellbeing, and contribute to personalised reports that support lasting impact beyond the visit. 

Alongside this, you will lead regular gardening and growing sessions, develop and maintain a purposeful, productive and beautiful garden environment, and help young people learn about the natural world through meaningful practical activity. You will also contribute to wider farm life, including feeding rounds, walks, meal preparation, evening activities, open days, events and occasional corporate visits. 

About you: We are looking for someone with professional experience working with young people experiencing challenge, alongside strong experience, expertise or interest in gardening, horticulture or growing. You will bring practical skills, a therapeutic mindset, and the warmth, curiosity and patience needed to work with young people facing challenging lives. You will be flexible, collaborative and open-minded, with strong communication, listening, teamwork and organisational skills, and a genuine interest in the benefits of education beyond the classroom.
