The Expeditions and Fieldwork Manager will be at the forefront of developing our content and events, and making the right audiences aware of the support and advice they can get from the Society. In addition to our core audience of fieldwork and expeditions practitioners, we want to support many more people, from leading experts to the simply curious, to make the world a better place as they travel with purpose, develop geographical knowledge, and share what they learn.

An exciting opportunity for a motivated and creative fundraiser to develop a strategic programme of mid to high level donors for a charity working to build a fairer UK justice system within everyone’s reach.

Background:

First Step Trust (FST) is a charity that provides work experience, training and employment opportunities for people excluded from working life because of mental health problems or other disadvantages (workforce members).

Our approach is about giving workforce members the chance to overcome some of the difficulties facing them by getting them involved as colleagues. We provide ‘on the job’ training, advice and support to enable each person to improve their basic skills and knowledge of the various work undertaken. This will include supporting workforce members to gain recognised qualifications and access to work placements with our customers and other organisations.

We are in the process of developing a more formalised training and employment support programme (SMaRT Pathways) particularly, but not exclusively, in the area of the Automotive trade.  SMaRT Pathways will include the delivery of vocational training through the use of various technologies including video, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and other mediums making the learning process more accessible to those who struggle with traditional learning methods due to issues around literacy, numeracy and low levels of self-confidence/anxiety. 

Job Role:

The main objective of this post is to enable people with mental health difficulties and other disadvantages (workforce members) to engage with and access open employment.  The EDTW will achieve this by taking responsibility for proactively recruiting people to the project, overseeing their development whilst at the project, including delivery of training courses as and when required and supporting them to move on to employment or further training.

Main duties:

Networking with other services in the area to raise awareness about FST, promoting work placements and training courses as well as promoting the business services.

Recruitment and development of potential workforce members - being proactive in following up on enquires regarding work placements, interviewing potential workforce for work placements at the project.

Employment support – assist workforce looking to move on to paid employment by providing support in job search, CVs and interview preparation. To develop a network of appropriate work placements by building contacts with local employment agencies and employers to ensure access to work for all workforce preparing to move on from FST.

Training – assisting when required, in delivering a variety of courses both in house and recognised qualifications to people with common mental health problems both workforce members and visiting trainees utilising the various technologies as they are developed.

Monitoring and reporting - complete, manage and provide regular, accurate, appropriate and timely reports to agreed deadlines in order to monitor progress.

Office duties – working with workforce members as colleagues ensuring that daily tasks are completed in a timely fashion.

To work in accordance within the limits and parameters as set out in FST’s policies and procedures, by the Board, Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive and other senior managers.

Perform other tasks as reasonably required according to the needs of the project and FST.

About us at the NCT

A lot of people know NCT for our antenatal classes, and we want to continue to support as many parents and families as we can to access evidence-based information. But we are also much more than this. We are a charity that campaigns on the issues that matter to parents. We run breastfeeding and infant feeding support, provided by specialist counsellors. We run thousands of free community activities and events across the UK, led by our fantastic volunteers and peers. And we support women and families facing specific challenges, such as social isolation, feeding difficulties or poor mental health.

Our Hackney Parent Support project is commissioned by Hackney Council, to offer infant feeding support across the region in both community and hospital settings and parenting courses for families throughout the Hackney region. The support is delivered by staff and volunteer peer supporters.

We are seeking a capable NCT Perinatal Service Delivery Manager who is passionate about supporting parents and infant feeding to lead on this project.  This role is home-based but will include travel across the Hackney region (expenses will be reimbursed).

About the role

You will be responsible for managing the parent support project in its entirety across the region. Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:

• Leading on perinatal peer support across the region.
• Managing the project staff team.
• Having a good working knowledge and understanding of the local demographics in the Hackney area and ensuring all services are accessible and inclusive.
• Engaging with communities through networking with other local organisations.
• Report progress on project status, timelines and delivery against key performance indicators.
• Participate in local perinatal networking/task and finish projects, so that the programme is an integral part of the local perinatal and infant feeding provision landscape, and is able to advocate for and chaperone perinatal service users at a strategic level, raising the profile of NCT’s perinatal offer locally and nationally.

You must have good communication skills and be able to build relationships and create a rapport with a wide range of people easily. This is a large project and covers multiple locations so you must be able to confidently prioritise your own work, be highly organised and able to work independently.

Being able to make decisions and respond appropriately to our commissioners, staff, peer supporters and parents and other external stakeholders is essential, alongside good IT skills– including Outlook, Word and Excel – and you must have good attention to detail.
 
It is essential for this post that you undertake the training to become an NCT Breastfeeding Peer Supporter. This requires breastfeeding experience of at least 3 months. The training can be undertaken within your working hours. There will also be training on the EPEC (Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities course) provided by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

The role is 28-35 hours per week which will be predominantly Monday to Friday within the working day, however, will include occasional evening and weekends. This is a home-based role, however travel across Hackney will be required.

We are looking for a motivated, creative, and organised Engagement and Communications Officer to join our team. The Grants Programme Assistant will support both the Executive Director and the Assistant Manager across the remit of the SCLF’s work to help it deliver its objectives. This is a unique and interesting opportunity to join the organisation at a key point in its ten-year trajectory as it works to support schools to continue their language provision post 2026 and help shape what that future might look like. 

The postholder will play a key role when it comes to supporting the Executive Director and Assistant Manager in their day-to-day roles and get very involved in the operations of the Foundation. How you will make a difference

The main purpose of the Estates Repairs & Maintenance Manager role is to manage and oversee effective property repairs, maintenance and improvement works across the property portfolio and ensure that it remains legally compliant. This includes properties where the responsibility for repairs and maintenance is that of the Charity and equally of other parties such as landlords and housing associations. The role will include managing existing external contractor relationships and housing association repairs and maintenance performance, as well as introducing new supplier contracts where required according to the wider needs of the charity. Working hours
35 hours per week – Mondays – Fridays throughout the year (there may be some flexibility with start and finish times in this role). Please note you will be required to regularly work outside of the normal office hours to attend and run events.

About us
Ipswich School has been voted Suffolk’s top independent school in The Sunday Times Parent Power League. We have over 1100 pupils aged between 3 months and 19 years. The School is consistently judged to be ‘excellent’ in all that we do, with the most recent report by ISI Inspectors confirming, Ipswich School has a fine record of academic success, which is placed within the context of an extensive range of activities outside the classroom.  The School operates a five-day week, with representative sports on Saturdays. Games, CCF, Community Service and a variety of other activities take place on Thursday afternoons. 

Development and Alumni Relations at Ipswich School
The School’s Development Office was established in 2006 to work with the School’s communities, including past pupils (known as ‘Old Ipswichians’ or OIs), and current and former parents, to encourage support for Ipswich School through events, volunteering and financial support.

This is an exciting role based in our Development Office, which is vital to the smooth running of our alumni community, the Old Ipswichians. Our alumni are an important part of the School’s past, present and future. In this role you will take the lead in further developing and enhancing our events, alumni engagement and fundraising programme to encourage positive relationships with the School.

You will play a pivotal role in the team; producing engaging copy, editing, proofing and facilitating the delivery of key departmental communications. Working closely with the Development Director, you will also work to develop and implement an engaging fundraising programme.

To undertake this role successfully you will need to have the following skills and experience:

• Be educated to A Level standard with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Direct events management experience of at least three years
• Experience of fundraising in a charity setting
• Excellent workload management skills
• Experience in writing copy, with exceptional attention to detail including grammar and spelling
• Good keyboard/ICT skills
• Good understanding of social media
• Excellent customer service skills, a good telephone manner and a helpful, proactive approach
• A genuine interest in people and their stories.
