Working with clients from our Day Centre and Night Shelter to provide casework, advocacy and support to resolve and prevent homelessness in Enfield and Haringey,. 

Within the Day Centre you will provide high quality and relevant advocacy and casework to people who are homeless or at risk. You will maintain a caseload of clients working within a fast paced and dynamic small team. You will support the smooth running of the day centre provision and have a commitment to supporting vulnerable clients in a person-centred way. Outside of the day centre you will support clients to attend a variety of key services and appointments through outreach. 

To be successful in this role will require a keen interest in homelessness and the devastating impact this can have on people. This role is suited to someone with a problem solving, positive attitude, who is passionate about supporting marginalised people.

About the role

We are currently looking for a highly motivated and committed Waking Night Support Worker to join the team in Bournemouth to support clients with complex needs in one of our 24-hour supported accommodation setting.

The service provides accommodation and support to individuals with complex needs in a recovery focused way. The team works collaboratively with clients in a safe and supportive environment in developing goals, plans and strategies to better manage their mental health, substance misuse and any associated risks.

In this role you will provide overnight waking cover for the service. You will be responsible for providing first contact and safeguarding our clients at night including dealing with emergencies. Other duties include carrying out regular health and safety checks, monitoring the CCTV system and various administration tasks. There is also an element of the role which will be ensuring the environment is kept to a high standard.

About you

To succeed, you will have an understanding of the needs and support requirements of people with complex needs. You’ll also have the ability to establish an effective working relationship with these clients, be client centred and possess an understanding of the issues that affect vulnerable clients. A good level of numeracy and literacy skills and the ability to use your own initiative are also required.

We are currently looking for two highly motivated and committed Waking Night Support Workers to join the West London Women's Service. Based in our 24-hour assessment hub you will be supporting 9 women with complex needs onsite and 11 housed in semi-independent training flats nearby.

The service provides accommodation and support to women with complex needs in a recovery focused way. We work collaboratively with clients in a safe and supportive environment in developing goals, plans and strategies to better manage their mental health, substance misuse and find a long-term solution to their homelessness.

This role will be working on a shift pattern as follows;

• Monday - Thursday: 9pm - 8:30am
• Friday: 9pm - 9am
• Saturday - Sunday: 8pm - 9am

​As a Night Worker in this service, you will be required to lone work.

We support residents who live with us for up to nine months and have been discharged from acute wards to avoid admission into inpatient rehabilitation. We support our residents to step down into less supported accommodation to become more independent and integrated into the community. 

In this role, you will ensure resident safety, wellbeing, and progress towards their recovery goals. You will support in creating an environment where they feel safe and empowered, and are building relationships with relevant partners and individuals key towards their journey. You will create support plans, plan and hold activities, and further support them to achieve greater independence. The night Shift plays a crucial role in continuing the high quality care provided during the day, ensuring a safe, respectful, and responsive environment for residents. night staff are expected to remain awake, alert, and actively engaged throughout their shift. Sleeping while on duty is strictly prohibited and may lead to disciplinary action, including dismissal for gross misconduct.

This role requires demonstrable experience in supporting people with mental health and complex needs, ideally including those with substance misuse issues, alongside a strong understanding of recovery approaches, co-production, and the wider legislation relevant to mental health crises such as welfare reform, the Care Act, and housing pathways. The candidate must be able to engage service users in assessments, co-produce and review support and safety plans, and deliver activities that reduce anxiety, build confidence and self-esteem, and promote a self-defined recovery journey. They should be motivated to maintain high standards in often unpredictable or challenging circumstances, have strong IT skills including MS Office and case management systems, and possess knowledge of building safety and basic repair issues. Flexibility is essential, with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, alongside the capability to handle and record financial transactions accurately, all supported by excellent spoken and written communication skills.

We are looking for a Housing Night Worker to join our team across both Lansworth House and Gareth Stacey House. In this role, you will help ensure the safety, security, and wellbeing of our residents, providing a friendly welcome, offering light support, managing challenging situations calmly, and keeping essential administration and housekeeping running smoothly.

Oursupport 35 young people at risk of homelessness, operating 24/7 across these two sites. With a mix of high and medium support levels, our services give young people aged 16–25 a safe, encouraging environment where they can grow in confidence, develop life skills, and take steps toward independence.

This is more than a night shift role - it’s an opportunity to make a real difference, working as part of a dedicated team committed to helping young people thrive.

We adopt a trauma informed and psychologically informed approach to supporting our residents to help them build essential life skills, identify their goals and work towards aspirations so that they can move on to enjoy fully independent futures. We have a dedicated team of Support Workers, Night Workers and additional Bank Workers who provide support, guidance, and signposting around areas such as housing, budgeting, living skills, jobs and relationship building. Situated in the centre of Hove, the service has strong links with and contributes to the local community.

Main areas of responsibilities are:

Safety and security

• Provide a friendly and professional front-of-house welcome to residents, visitors and staff, and ensure the building is safe, secure quiet and welcoming 
• Maximise the wellbeing of residents and visitors by ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols and house rules, all within the terms of tenancy agreements
• Assess and monitor the risks presented by residents to ensure they can keep themselves safe and, where possible, continue their development
• Record all incidents and accidents and share appropriately with the wider team, your manager and, if necessary, the central safeguarding team 

Engagement with residents

• Welcome residents home and provide informal and responsive support so they can articulate their aspirations and ambitions and acquire the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives
• Ensure resident’s views, aspirations, concerns, and ideas are sought so they can play an active role in influencing the services they receive
• Proactively promote the services on offer and ensure residents are encouraged to engage with those services
• Contribute to, or support, evening groupwork activities so that residents can access tailored solutions that meet their needs, wishes and aspirations

Administration and housekeeping

• Undertake tasks as directed, including but not limited to: inputting data, assessments, reviews, case notes onto our client database and entering new residents details/closing ex-resident records
• Completing health and safety/compliance checks, and recording estate inspectors and room checks
• Adding maintenance requests to our property services system

General

• Work as part of a team, on a rota four on four off shift pattern, alongside another Housing Night Worker, ensuring young people at the service have non-judgemental, objective at night, along with taking responsibility for personal safety during periods of lone working
• Contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations
• Participate in relevant continuing professional development and utilise Reflective Practice Supervision as part of leading psychologically informed practice

Experience and knowledge

• Experience of working in a customer facing environment, remaining calm and solution-focused when dealing with challenging behaviour
• Basic understanding of the support needs of young people and/or adults at risks
• Understanding of the impact of trauma on others, and the ability to work with a strengths-based approach with people who may be in distress
• Demonstrated confidence and competence in recording notes/actions in service log, incident forms and Health and Safety check lists
• Basic knowledge of good safeguarding procedures in relation to young people and/or vulnerable adults, and the ability to maintain professional boundaries (training provided)

Skills and abilities 

• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing for appropriate record keeping (vital for handover to colleagues working day shifts)
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong relationships
• Ability to work lone work, work autonomously, and use own initiative, as well as being part of a team
• IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office 365 package, as well as healthy and safety and client management systems (training on YMCA DLG systems provided)
• Ability to de-escalate volatile situations and manage challenging behaviour appropriately

We’re seeking to recruit Relief Support Workers within our Gateshead and Sunderland Projects; needing to appoint individuals to our relief pool who are able to provide daytime cover (weekdays, weekends, evenings between 7.30am-8pm), and/or waking night shifts (8pm-8am). About the role

As an Experienced Practitioner, you will provide direct support and care for our young people who have complex emotional and mental health difficulties (such as trauma and loss) and can struggle to regulate their emotions.

Working within a therapeutic framework, you will develop a direct programme of work aimed at developing authentic relationships with our children and young people (aged 12 – 17 years old), you will also have responsibility for making sure our residents are safe, providing support, liaison with other professionals and completion of support documents to record information.

If applying for the Waking Night role, you will have the additional support of an on-call manager should there be any emergencies. Further to this, you will be involved in monthly team meetings and receive monthly supervision.

Applicants should have

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (i.e. Level 3 Diploma Children and Young People Workforce with the children's social care pathway) or be willing to achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 2 years as per Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 (England).
• Minimum of 1 years’ experience working and supporting children and Young People to achieve their full potential.
• Genuine commitment to working with and supporting children and Young People to achieve their full potential; with the ability to build and promote trusted relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• An understanding of the issues facing children and Young People and a basic understanding of safeguarding Regulations and Procedures.

This is an exciting role in our Supported Accommodation team that will lead on co-producing bespoke support and move-on plans, involving key stakeholders such as Social Workers, Personal Advisors and other support providers where appropriate. You will engage residents to meet agreed outcomes and develop life skills, assisting with day-to-day support and tenancy-related matters. You will also identify and promote opportunities for employment, education and training and support residents to remove barriers to accessing these opportunities.
