At Horatio’s Garden, we build and look after extraordinary gardens in the heart of NHS spinal injury centres. These gardens are a critical part of rehabilitation and offer reflection and adjustment, privacy and solace, joy and companionship to all who need it. We lead regular gardening sessions to grow and cultivate plants, arts workshops to offer new skills and a programme of live music and events. Designed to be enjoyed all year round, these gardens offer a warm, welcoming place for family and friends who may have travelled hours for a visit.
Our vision is for everyone with a spinal injury to have a Horatio’s Garden as part of their rehabilitation care.
The charity is growing. We have eight garden projects open and are fundraising for our ninth garden in Middlesbrough.
This role will assist with the content creation of engaging written, film and visual content across different platforms, scheduling and moderating our social channels, and helping us report on our digital activity. You will support the rollout of the new regional social media channels for each garden to help place storytelling and impact at the heart of our communications.
It would suit someone looking to start or build their career in the communications field or charity sector to develop experience in developing content, writing and charity campaigning. There will be opportunities for training and development and you will travel between the charity’s UK-wide gardens and meet patients, volunteers and staff.
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week) based in the charity’s office in Salisbury with the ability to discuss some flexible working after the six month probation period.
You will be reporting to the Communications Manager.
Main duties
1. Help manage the day-to-day running of the charity’s social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook). Schedule content and respond to comments and messages to foster positive engagement and add value to the supporter experience
2. Work closely with the team to produce subscriber, campaign-led and post-event newsletter content and manage the subscriber database
3. Contribute to the charity’s content calendar and work creatively and collaboratively with the communications and wider charity team to proactively seek and develop story ideas
4. Create engaging content in support of charity objectives and reflecting our brand and tone guidelines
5. Assist with internal communications to convey key updates to staff
6. Assist in maintaining and updating Horatio’s Garden’s main website
7. Help to manage the charity’s digital assets, ensuring the team have access to the most impactful photographs and videos for their needs
8. Collate, analyse and present monthly reports on social media, newsletter and website activity and engagement against key performance metrics
9. Assist with planning and promotion of campaigns and track press activity
10. Keep up to date with the latest digital marketing trends and technologies
General duties
1. Support the wider team with administrative duties that support the smooth running of the charity

Skills required

The key duties of the Director of Finance, People & Culture are as follows:

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Store Manager to join Barnardo's on a Full Time, Fixed Term Basis until December 2026.
As a Store Manager you will manage the day to day running of our Harrogate Store, leading a team of colleagues to maximise store sales and profits. Working Pattern: As the store is open 7 days a week, the successful post holder will be required to on a rota basis which will include weekend, evening, and bank holiday working.

- Ensuring stock is generated over the door by members of the public and donors sign up to the Gift Aid scheme.

Overview / Purpose
The Research Events Coordinator plays a central role in the organisation's mission to build a world-leading Research Centre. This department coordinates, generates, and champions research activity across the organisation. The Research Events Coordinator contributes the Department's central mission to advance knowledge through the conception, creation, delivery, and dissemination of the highest quality research events aimed at the widest possible public and specialist audiences, undertaken through many diverse channels and through the organisation's local, national, and international research projects and partnerships.
The role holder provides efficient and effective administration and coordination of the organisation's annual programme of research events, organised by the Research Department in collaboration with research-active staff from across the institution. In coordination with other Research Department staff, in particular the Research Centre Manager, you are responsible for the overall planning, delivery, and archiving of all research events, both in-person and hybrid. This includes (but is not limited to): research seminars, exhibition colloquia, scholarly workshops, academic conferences, annual lectures, and other internal research events. You will also support the Centre's front-of-house duties and will provide administrative support for further research activity as deemed appropriate or suitable by the Head of Research.
Key Responsibility
Support the Research Centre Manager, Senior Research Lead, and Head of Research in:
Events Administration
- Attend meetings, take and circulate notes on event planning and preparation.
- Assist the Research Centre Manager, Senior Research Lead, Head of Research, and all other event-hosting staff with: coordinating Calls for Papers; liaising with speakers and collaborators; providing administration for all aspects of events planning.
- Book travel and accommodation for external speakers (and VIP attendees); attend any related invoices and ensure prompt payment of the same.
- Book venues and prepare rooms for conferences, seminars, and all other Research Centre events, e.g. arrange furniture, set up refreshments.
- Arrange, as necessary, all IT and AV support for events, including speaker and participant digital access for online events, facilitating practice sessions, and any livestreams and recording of events.
- Work at evening events (outside office hours) at the organisation or events hosted at external locations, as required (agreed in advance).
- Provide technical support at digital events, including setting up hybrid planning meetings between internal and external colleagues.
- Coordinate with AV/Digital event recordings for archive and/or release to participants and the general public.
- Maintain the contacts/networks database as it relates to event attendees, speakers etc.
Communications and Advertising:
- Produce event copy, as required, for the website, e-newsletter for research networks, etc.
- Liaise with the Digital Team over online event pages on the website and over the booking system; monitor event bookings.
- Ensure that the web information about the Research Centre remains current; liaise with the Digital Team about web content.
- Maintain and develop the email list of subscribers to events mailings and to the newsletter.
- Co-ordinate the regular research email newsletter; liaise with content providers for the newsletter; produce event copy, as required, for e-newsletters for research networks, etc.
- Work with Digital and Creative Teams to create event templates for invitations that match the brand, the research theme and audience of the given event.
- Work to promote upcoming research events using internal and external advertising platforms, as appropriate.
Research Centre Administration:
- Provide front-of-house support to the Research Centre, as necessary.
- Attend and take and circulate notes, as required, at relevant committees/working groups for research.
- Work with Senior Research Lead and Research Centre Manager to carry out administration related to research projects, including assisting with budgets, processing invoices, securing image rights, publishing web content, liaising with external collaborators and visiting fellows, booking travel and accommodation and providing administration for all research project activities.
Key Required Skills
- Substantial experience of event management to coordinate projects and events, ideally within a large, multipart organisation.
- Ability to develop and manage detailed project timelines and workflows.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail (e.g. creating travel itineraries; making bookings; taking minutes of meetings; maintaining calendars and room booking systems).

Over 75,000 young people aren’t getting the wheelchair or support that fully meets their needs. Without the ability to be independent young wheelchair users are restricted in their ability to socialise and participate in society.
We’re here to change that.
As the UK’s leading charity for young wheelchair users (9 months - 25 years old), we empower young people by providing the wheelchairs, equipment, support and confidence-building experiences they need, and campaigning for a more inclusive society.
And we won’t stop until they are mobile, enabled and included.

Key accountabilities
Social media
• Develop and manage the social media strategy for Whizz Kidz
• Manage the day-to-day social media calendar and posting across Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, ensuring a consistent stream of content that generates engagement
• Evaluate social media performance and recommend potential new strategies and platforms
Content creation
• Develop and edit multimedia content for social media and the website
• Identify and tell the stories of our beneficiaries and fundraisers
• Write news and announcements for the website
• Work with teams across the organisation to ensure content and collateral is up-to-date and optimised across print and digital channels
PR and media management
• Write and distribute press releases
• Manage and triage media enquiries
• Support the Senior PR and Communications Manager to run the PR function
Person specification
Skills and knowledge
• Excellent written communication and copywriting skills - with the ability to authentically communicate in a way that makes people feel heard
• Creative and resourceful and able to maximise opportunities with limited budgets
• An ability to work under tight deadlines
• A positive ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to work on own initiative with limited supervision
• Able to work flexibly and creatively to respond to the emerging needs
• Strong decision-making skills
• Knowledge of a digital communications landscape and an interest in social media and new communication channels
Experience
• Significant experience of managing engaging social media accounts
• Experience of writing content across digital platforms
• Experience of developing multimedia content including video production and image editing for use on social media posts/stories/reels and other channels

Annual leave
25 days of annual leave per annum plus Bank Holiday (pro-rata for part time colleagues).
Christmas closure
In addition to annual leave, employees get three days of paid Christmas leave.

Automatic enrolment for all colleagues with the option to opt out. Contributions of 5% gross salary made by both Whizz Kidz and employees. We will match higher contributions of up to 6% of gross basic salary.

About the Role
This is a pivotal senior leadership role at the heart of NCTJ's growth strategy - and is not your typical charity role.
It's a chance to lead on large-scale projects, shape commercial strategy, and build partnerships that make a real difference, while working alongside a passionate and supportive team. As Head of Business Development, you'll lead on identifying and securing revenue opportunities while forming strategic partnerships that support their mission and charitable objectives. You'll manage two direct reports, the Fundraising Manager and Journalism Skills Academy Manager, and work closely with the Chief Executive and senior leadership team to align business development with organisational strategy.
This role covers a broad and exciting remit including:
- Business growth and revenue generation
- Commercial partnerships and industry engagement
- Strategic leadership and operational management
You'll be negotiating high-value partnerships, exploring international growth opportunities, and leading on innovative training initiatives including digital and AI-driven programmes. You'll also oversee fundraising efforts to support key initiatives like the Community News Project and the Journalism Diversity Fund.
About you
We're looking for a commercially minded leader with a proven track record in business development and revenue generation. You'll be a strategic thinker with the ability to spot growth opportunities, build high-value partnerships, and expand NCTJ's impact. With strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, you'll inspire a small team and engage confidently with media organisations, funders, and industry partners. You'll bring commercial acumen, project management expertise, and a deep appreciation of the journalism and media landscape, including digital transformation and AI.
Above all, you'll be a clear communicator, a problem-solver, and someone who's passionate about equality, diversity, and inclusion in journalism.
