Job description

Our mission

Impact Box's mission is to transform how the social sector uses technology. We want to bring about a sector that is more impactful, efficient and data-informed. We do this by providing charities and social enterprises outstanding software solutions that address the day-to-day challenges they face. Using our knowledge and experience of the sector, we are able to provide solutions that help organisations increase their impact and deliver on their mission.

Our work falls into three main areas:

  1. We deliver one-off software implementations for charities and social enterprises, often on the Salesforce platform.

  2. We build tech for good products that benefit the whole sector. In 2020 we are launching Tent, a platform that allows charities to create engaging digital spaces for the people they work with at a fraction of the cost of custom development.

  3. We provide ongoing support and capacity building to help organisations make best use of the software they have.

We are looking for someone to manage day-to-day operations and support the organisation through a significant phase of growth. As the person with overall responsibility for operations, you’ll have significant autonomy and a real opportunity to shape the organisation moving forward.

Location

Normally our office is between Stockwell and Oval in South London. But like many organisations we are currently operating remotely. It is difficult to predict what the situation will be by October but we may still be operating fully or partially remotely when this role starts. We will only return to the office when it is appropriate to do so and we are committed to respecting the fact that what constitutes an appropriate point to return may vary from person to person.

Responsibilities

As a growing organisation we expect this role will evolve over time to reflect both the needs of the organisation and the talents of the individual. 

Initial responsibilities will be in the following areas: 

  • Finance. Managing invoicing, bank reconciliations, reporting on finance KPIs.

  • Operations. Improving business processes and suggesting system changes.

  • HR. Developing and implementing HR policies and processes, payroll, managing recruitment.

  • Data. Reporting on wider organisational metrics and objectives, data protection.

Person specification

Ideally, the right candidate will:

  • Be committed to Impact Box’s mission and values

  • Have excellent organisational skills

  • Have attention to detail and an affinity for working with numbers

  • Be able to work independently and learn new things quickly

  • Be an effective communicator

  • Be capable of identifying and executing improvements to existing processes

We’re not looking for a specific work or education history. You may have gained these skills working in an operations-focussed role in another start-up or a charity. But equally you may have acquired these skills in an entirely different role or setting. We encourage applications from candidates with a diverse range of experiences.
