We’re looking for creative, enthusiastic people who enjoy photography, storytelling and social media to help share the work we do and the difference it makes in our communities.

As a Digital Media Volunteer, you’ll help capture and share real stories from our projects and events, creating engaging content for social media, newsletters and other digital platforms. You’ll play a key role in helping us celebrate achievements, highlight opportunities and inspire others to get involved.

This is a flexible role for anyone who enjoys being creative and wants to use their digital skills for a positive cause.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Creating and scheduling social media posts across platforms
• Taking photographs or short videos during activities and events
• Writing captions, stories or updates that highlight community impact
• Helping prepare content for newsletters, blogs or website updates
• Supporting engagement by monitoring comments and interactions online
• Organising photos, videos and creative assets for use in campaigns

Skills and Qualities We’re Looking For

• Creative eye for photography, video or design
• Confidence using social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
• Good writing and communication skills
• Basic knowledge of tools like Canva or other editing apps (training can be provided)
• Organised and reliable with good attention to detail
• Respect for safeguarding, consent and confidentiality when sharing media

Adventure awaits!

We support a gentleman who would love a volunteer to go out with every two months, and he has a range of interests that he would love to share with you!

He can often be found admiring the birds in his garden, with his camera in hand. He is also a big sports fan, supporting Manchester United football, and a range of other sports. He loves to talk about it! He is an active soul, enjoying walks and cycling. Above all, he would love to share some of his diverse interests with a friend. You don't need to share any of these interests, but if you did that would certainly be a bonus!

Whether you go out for lunch, coffee, or just a walk, I guarantee you won't regret it.

The Plateful Café works to relieve poverty and isolation amongst refugees, asylum seekers and ethnic minorities in Lewisham. Our commitment is to reach the most vulnerable people in our community and help them access the support they are entitled to. The refugees training or employed by the Plateful Cafe will benefit from workshops, training skills and knowledge relevant for the catering industry. 

As a small charity, it is important to share information and updates through our communications and social media content, to help us fundraise and grow. We are looking for someone to assist us on creating copy for our blog as well as help with creating content for our newsletters, social media, print media and other promotional material over time.

With the launch of the physical Plateful Cafe taking place soon, this summer is an exciting time to join us.

Requirements: 

• Excellent communication skills in fluent English

• Has 1+ years experience of social media, copywriting, journalism, blog content creation, interviewing or similar skills (this does not have to include published work)

• Able to create interesting and engaging content

• Good computer skills

• Good time management skills

• Engaging and friendly

• Good team player

Desirable:

• Basic digital photography and editing skills

• An interest in supporting refugees and contributing to the work of Plateful Cafe

• Experience of working with refugees, people seeking asylum, vulnerable groups or lived experience

• Lives in London with ability to attend events and markets

Oxfam Magdalen Street are desperately looking for volunteers, Magdalen street is the biggest Oxfam shop in the country exc Super stores and is a fast moving, happy place to volunteer where all ages and skill abilities are welcome.

We have volunteer vacancies in most areas but we are desperate to find volunteers to help sort through our ever growing ladies clothing/shoes and accessories donations! if you love to rummage or treasure hunt this volunteering role is for you! Especially as weekends.

Also if you have a hobby or interest in areas like stamps, coins or collectables or fancy a go at Merchandising please do get in touch as we have many donations waiting your attention.

plus we are keen to build up our online shop so if you have an interest in research, photography and listing online you would be very welcome especially at weekends.

Please note this is an unpaid volunteer role but out of pocket expenses like reasonable travel cost are paid and lunch will be paid for if volunteering over 5 hours.

Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. Whatever your skill set, this role could be perfect for you! 

What can I expect to be doing? 

As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following: 

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with our fundraising events, attending supermarket collections or local markets. 

• Distributing collection tins – popping collection tins into local shops and pubs and collecting them when they’re full. 

• Bringing new ideas! - We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life. 

• Engaging with your local branches and Fundraising Hub and feeling like an integral part of the team! 

What are the benefits to you and the cats? 

You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge though Cats Protection’s learn online system, providing you with the skills to thrive as a fundraiser.  You’ll also have the chance to meet new people and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.

How much time is expected of me? 

Our Fundraising Volunteer roles are very flexible, often certain times of the year are busier than others. You can choose your level of involvement to suit your schedule!

Support, guidance and keeping you safe 

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.
