About you

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our friendly events team at the British Ecological Society (BES). You’ll need at least one year’s demonstrable experience in delivering high-profile mid-sized events and conferences. You will need a high-level of organisation and reliability as well as knowledge of Microsoft Office, and experience of using a CRM and a hybrid event platform. We need a clear and concise communicator who can build and maintain relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and diverse audiences.

You will assist the BES in the organisation and delivery of our events programme, including our flagship scientific conference, the BES Annual Meeting, which sees 1,200 ecologists gather from around the world and share the latest research.

About the role

Reporting to the Events Manager, the Events Officer will:

• In collaboration with the Events Manager, oversee the delivery of allocated parts of the Society’s Annual Meeting, Symposia, and other events.
• Use digital platforms to support event management and delegate experience -including the website, CRM system, conference abstract management system, Eventbrite, Canva, hybrid conference platforms, Excel, Microsoft Teams and Zoom
• Co-ordinate aspects of event planning including venue search, supplier liaison, catering and accommodation.
• Act as the main point of contact for exhibitors and sponsors, post-sales.
• Maintain and update the programme information on the hybrid event platform for the Annual Meeting.
• Ensure that any agreed branding from sponsors is delivered.
• Provide on-site support at events and go on site visits.
• Develop innovative and creative social media content and digital promotion for the Society’s events.
• Evaluate and monitor success of events portfolio, providing and implementing recommendations where appropriate.
• Evaluate and monitor EDI representation at BES events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Research and evaluate new funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and other grant funders, maintaining a 12-month funding calendar.

2. Cultivate and nurture relationships with funding/grant-making organisations, both new and existing.

8. Stay informed about funding opportunities and trends in the sector through attending conferences, workshops, and events.

9. Generate accurate and timely management information on fundraising activities and budgets.

10. Ensure integration of fundraising activities within the wider staff team and provide necessary support.

11. Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Fundraising and Marketing and/or the Trust Fundraising Manager.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience

1. Proven experience and success in developing and drafting proposals and/or reports raising funds from trusts, foundations, other grant makers or the equivalent.

2. Experience of creating compelling and concise funding proposals, written documents and reports from a range of information sources, including detailed technical or sector specific information. about the organisation’s work.

3. Proven ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.

4. Experience of research techniques applicable to identifying funding opportunities and framing funding bids.

5. Financially literate with the experience of producing and interpreting budgets, or other detailed numerical information.

The Development Officer (Trusts & Foundations) will join a small, dedicated team responsible for securing income from charitable trusts, foundations and grant making bodies in the UK and internationally in support of agreed University priorities, including Health-UEA Climate-UEA and various campus projects. 

Reporting to the Senior Development Manager (Trusts & Foundations) you will apply for and manage grants whilst also managing the research of new funding opportunities for the team.

ActionAid UK is seeking a passionate and dedicated Supporter Communications Specialist to join our dynamic and values-driven team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an organisation committed to working for the rights of women and girls, with a strong focus on feminist principles, safeguarding, and becoming an anti-racist decolonised INGO.

In this role, you will be responsible for creating and managing content. You must have a willingness to travel internationally and be able to handle complex relationships and drive change within your role. You will play a crucial role in monitoring and assessing the performance of our overseas programs in relation to report content, child messages, and other supporter communications. Your expertise in Direct Marketing programs, particularly Child Sponsorship, will be utilized to develop innovative direct marketing programmes,  internal skills and awareness of this key organisational product. You will also have the opportunity to showcase the impact of our work through internal communications, such as staff briefings.

In this role, you will also have the chance to work with a wide range of channels and activities, including digital, mail, and telephone, to create supporter-focused communications that create an emotional connection with our supporters. You will use your deep knowledge and expertise to assess and select content that best represents AAUK and our development achievements. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating compelling and high-quality final copy for our Child Sponsorship, Next Step, and Regular Giving programs.

  Key Responsibilities:

- Manage supporter feedback journeys and make decisions about audience-appropriate content
- Plan and manage workload timelines to meet deadlines and KPIs

- Collaborate with other teams to share information and deliver an integrated supporter journey

Key Requirements:

- Experience in creating offline and digital materials for fundraising and marketing
- Strong project management skills and ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative
- Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills
- Ability to communicate diplomatically and negotiate effectively
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability

We’re recruiting for a Fundraising Communities Officer to join Samaritans. You’ll work in a small & friendly team to drive the delivery of our Mass Participation events portfolio including our flagship event, Dawn Walk and our social fundraising challenges, with a focus on supporter stewardship.

You’ll have previous fundraising experience, within the charity sector. You’ll have experience of moderating an online community or previous experience in response handling, such as managing a busy inbox.

We’re looking for a creative individual with a growth mindset, who thinks outside the box, brings new ideas to our event portfolio and can tailor their creativity to suit different audiences/groups.  We want our events to stand out in a crowded marketplace so we are looking to think differently about how we deliver our events and provide best-in-class supporter stewardship and a great supporter experience.

This role will deliver exceptional supporter experiences that build a sense of community and maximise supporter's potential to raise money and awareness for Samaritans, from an annual programme of mass participation fundraising challenges.

The Person

We are looking for a people person with the ability to lead, develop and support large groups of fundraisers. You’ll need to be an excellent communicator, be adaptable to changing priorities and have a good understanding of online communities and digital fundraising. You’ll have experience of working with charity supporters in a fundraising environment and an understanding of databases and processes.
