Children North East is a growing charity, working to ensure that all babies, children and young people have the opportunity to grow up happy and healthy. The charity as a whole has been through a transformative restructure and due to this transformation the charity has grown substantially since 2019. Our Operational area will be led by two Directors an Operations Director and an Operations Development Director.
The current Operations Director has now been appointed internally as the Operations Development Director, this role will focus on system change including research, data, growth and further our development on specific pieces of work. This will include growing the demographics of children we work with to help us to meet their needs, changing reactionary work into intervention work and will lead on the following:
• CNE voice work – supporting babies children and young people to have a voice in the work that we do at CNE.
• Developing, implementing and leading on our training offer – in house online packages.
• Leading on new operational developments – research, scoping, pilots and evaluation.
• Driving forward our current work – regionally and nationally – stakeholder engagement, scoping new geographical areas for
development actively selling our work.
• Influencing and campaigning – working alongside policy/campaigning led by CNE, influencing external networks and systems.
The Operations Director will ensure that our current and future strategies will enable us to meet our ambitions. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to drive the charity forward in meeting the end of its current 5 year strategy and be part of the development of the next 5 year strategy. You will create good working relationships with your senior leaders and Operational Leads and you will have a whole charity approach to the work required.
This role will Lead our Operational Leads to deliver the excellent services that sit within their portfolios including the following teams:
• Therapeutic including Counselling
• Communities
• Poverty Proofing
The Operations Director role will ensure the income, safety and quality of our services are delivered to the highest standards. With key leadership qualities, this role will ensure the sustainability of our services and work collaboratively with SLT to reach its ambitions of our current and future strategies. There will be specific collaboration with the Operations Development Director to ensure that once our seed and pilot work is established it is moved forward into Operations within the charity to benefit all of the people we work with. This role is also expected to inform the Operations Development Director of key themes/gaps in services that have been recognised through current service delivery work.
Role Summary
To support the development and delivery of community investment projects that deliver successful, measurable outcomes for TCH residents and communities, often working in conjunction with other TCH teams and external partners to achieve those outcomes.
The projects will focus on our key Community Investment Strategy themes; currently: tackling poverty and inequality; embedding well-being; customer co-creation and sharing power; community activities and programmes.
The role links with others across the organisation including our internal Customer Insight and Resident Engagement teams to understand our communities and supports our wider housing teams to deliver initiatives for the benefit of our residents.
The office base would depend on applicant. The successful applicant would need to travel between the different offices when required.
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Support the development and delivery of existing and new projects, initiatives and services that meet the aims of the Community Investment Strategy.
- Ensure these projects are outcome focused, that programmes/services are responsive to residents’ needs and reflect best practice and corporate priorities and meet regulatory expectations.
- To co-ordinate Community Investment projects and activities working in conjunction with residents, the wider organisation, contractors, and community partners.
- Support the effective monitoring and evaluation of community investment projects, ensuring that monitoring returns are received in agreed timescales and are accurate and outcome focused. Produce relevant performance reports and data as required.
- To provide support for the effective brokerage, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of social value across TCH contracts.
- Use customer data and insight to support our Community Investment work and to help build links with sections of the community who are not currently accessing our services.
- Attend networking and best practice groups as required. Maintain awareness of relevant government legislation and sector best practice and use this to inform your work on local activities and initiatives.
- Support the Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) process, helping to develop and monitor project briefs, donation frameworks, and grant funding (when grant processes are open), that respond to social needs and include measurable milestones, outputs and outcomes, budget management, risk mitigation and procurement. Manage service level agreements and freelance contractors.
- In conjunction with colleagues ensure that all areas of service delivery are effectively monitored and evaluated via the application of impact assessments, key performance indicators, social value outcomes and value for money reporting.
- Contribute to the review and development of systems, processes, and services to support TCH’s customer experience and service improvement aspirations, including through learning from complaints and feedback, and implementing change.
- Support our 3rd sector charity partners in ways that help them meet our residents’ needs, including supporting them to understand need and priorities based on data and resident insight.
- In conjunction with your manager and the PR & Communications Team promote community investment and social value projects, and outcomes. To demonstrate to residents, colleagues, and other stakeholders how we make a positive contribution to the neighbourhoods in which we work, that we listen to residents’ views and act on them and how projects and initiatives demonstrate our approach to treating residents fairly and with respect.

Main purpose of post
• Act as first point of contact on the Big Purple Bus for any requests for information and support from the public or professionals (drop-in, appointment, phone, email), triaging more complex requests appropriately.
• Manage professional and self-referrals to the service and triage appropriately, including to internal colleagues and services and partner agencies, ensuring people referred receive timely and coordinated information and support.
• Meet with people on the Big Purple Bus predominantly to provide face to face support when accessing the service (patients/clients, carers, relatives, professionals), providing high quality information and support within defined level of competence in relation to cancer. This will include assessment of service users’ information and support needs (Holistic Needs Assessment/Cancer Care Review), provision of written or verbal information, supportive listening and action planning to facilitate self-management.
• Act as a single point of contact for any on-going Big Purple Bus support services liaising with the individual being supported and any professionals and agencies involved in their care.
• Work proactivity with primary and secondary care and voluntary sector partners to promote Weston Park Cancer Charity and build awareness of the support available for people living with and beyond cancer.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic person to join a growing and dynamic team that provides excellence in supporting people living with and beyond cancer and their families. The post has been created to support the expansion of cancer support services.Applications are welcome from health, social care and voluntary sector professionals with experience of personalised care and understanding of the wider determinants of health, including, social, economic and environmental factors.
The postholder will be part of a team which provides a ‘Single Point of Contact’ for people living with and beyond Cancer and professionals such as clinical nurse specialist, GPs, social workers and voluntary sector partners, in Sheffield and surrounding areas. They will manage referrals to the Big Purple Bus service and triage appropriately including to internal colleagues and services and partner agencies, ensuring people referred receive timely and coordinated, information and support.
The postholder will provide personalised information and support about cancer and cancer services, within their level of competence, which will enable people to navigate the health and social care system and make choices that are best for them. The post holder will employ a What Matters to You? approach, using Holistic Needs Assessments and Cancer Care Reviews to support collaborative and person-centred practice.
The postholder will be expected to take an active role in contributing towards the development and implementation of Big Purple Bus support services, have the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a wider team, adhering to excellence in service delivery and customer service.
We are looking for someone with a highly organised and flexible approach to work. You must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to adapt your approach to the needs of the people we support.
Posts will have a primary base at the Big Purple Bus but with some occasional working from one of our other locations (Cancer Support Centre & Charity Hub) dependent on service need.
What you do:
Delivery of Information and Support to people living with and beyond cancer and their families.
The post holder will:
• Act as first point of contact on the Big Purple Bus for any requests for information and support from the public or professionals (drop-in, appointment, phone, email), triaging more complex requests appropriately.
• Manage referrals to the Big Purple Bus service and triage appropriately, including to internal colleagues and services and partner agencies, ensuring people referred receive timely and coordinated, information and support.

• Provide information and support within level of competence of the post (Macmillan Levels of Intervention Criteria L1,2, and L3 under supervision; NICE approved four tier model of psychological support Level 1).
This will include:
• Assess the needs of individuals attending / contacting the Big Purple Bus service and identify the required level of intervention.
• Support users sensitively to help them understand basic clinical information they have been given (e.g. around diagnosis, treatment, effects of the illness and treatment, cancer terminology), helping to resolve situations where users feel they have been given conflicting information. This will include addressing concerns and queries and working to resolve them and the ability to recognise and work within the limits of own competence and responsibility is crucial, referring issues beyond these limits to relevant people.
• Provide basic supporting information around topics such as reducing the risk of cancer, cancer screening, healthy living, the impact of cancer, in the most appropriate format (e.g. written, verbal, and others as appropriate to overcome any barriers to communication).
• Provide information on topics such as e.g. benefits, travel insurance, and facilitate access to services e.g. specialist benefits advice, complementary therapy.
• Liaise with relevant staff at all levels as appropriate both within the charity and externally to address issues identified, and seek advice with more complex issues, directly involving others where necessary, e.g. Cancer Information and Support Advisor or Senior Advisor; Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS).
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of effective relationships with partner organisations in primary and secondary and voluntary the sector via networking, also giving talks and presenting at relevant groups.
• Deliver awareness raising activity to promote the service.
Operational delivery
The post holder will:
• Collect and collate data regarding contacts with the service users in person and produce reports of activity as required.
• Contribute to events and displays externally liaising with departments and agencies as required.
• Provide general administrative support to the Health Care Professionals and Outreach Service Manager [FM1] [PM2]
• Work flexibly in order to deliver the objectives of the cancer support service, including attending events and outreach sessions across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and Bassetlaw.

• Facilitate open and effective communication with multi-professional teams, both internally and externally.

The Humane Slaughter Association is a unique charity which promotes the welfare of farmed animals ‘Beyond the Farm Gate’; at markets, during transport, at slaughter, and when animals must be killed in emergencies.

Technical Officer – welfare assessment
The postholder for this role will become a key part of the HSA welfare assessment and training team. The team regularly undertakes welfare assessments of abattoirs, livestock markets and transport facilities to provide advice and training to ensure high standards of animal welfare. We also provide in-person training in humane slaughter and transport to those working in the industry, as well as regulators, other NGOs, staff from farm assurance schemes and others involved in the industry. Participating in agricultural shows and industry events, sharing our knowledge and advocating for humane slaughter and transport with key stakeholders are also central to our activities. HSA conferences are also an important way in which we disseminate the latest animal welfare information.
The postholder will work with the small expert team at the HSA, using their expertise to deliver welfare assessments and training, provide expert advice and organise our external activities.
Key Skills, Qualifications and Attributes
Essential
· A degree in agriculture, life science, veterinary medicine (or a related field) or equivalent professional experience.
· An understanding of the basic principles of animal welfare at slaughter.
· Comfortable working with and producing material which describes the slaughter process in detail.
· Comfortable working in abattoirs and livestock facilities.
· A diplomatic approach to dealing with controversial issues in animal welfare.
· Willingness to obtain a slaughter licence.
· A demonstrable ability to summarise complex information for a range of audiences with different levels of technical expertise.

Personal Attributes
The candidate must be comfortable with the charity’s approach to animal welfare which includes co-operation with the livestock and slaughter industries. Whilst the HSA wishes to ensure the highest standards of welfare for animals farmed for food or other products, it does not oppose the slaughter of animals per se. Candidates must be comfortable working within the livestock industry and other key stakeholders whilst striving to ensure the humane treatment of animals undergoing transport or slaughter.
Job Benefits
Payscale: £30,493 – 41,737 (depending on experience and qualifications) Plus London weighting, where applicable.
Contract Type: Permanent/full-time, subject to a satisfactory probationary period. Part-time and flexible working arrangements may be possible.
Location: Office-based or remote (within the UK) according to the wishes of the applicant. The HSA offices are currently based in Hertfordshire, UK. The postholder will need to travel to meetings around the UK and occasionally overseas.

About IKWRO
IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls living in the UK, who have experienced, or are at risk of all forms of “honour” based abuse, including; forced marriage, child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), or domestic abuse.

We campaign to increase awareness and improve laws and policies to tackle all forms of “honour” based abuse and harmful practices including; forced marriage, child marriage, marital captivity, female genital mutilation, virginity testing and hymenoplasty, discrimination by sharia courts and to push for better laws and policies to protect women’s and girl’s rights.
Purpose of Job
The Fundraising Officer will work as part of the Fundraising and Marketing team and will be responsible for:
• Nurturing relationships with existing and prospective donors
• Sustaining and developing our group of individual and community-based supporters.
• Growing income, including regular giving, donations, appeals, legacy giving, community groups and other fundraising activities.

Rainbow Migration, the longest-running charity in Europe dedicated to supporting LGBTQI+ people through the asylum and immigration system, is recruiting a Legal Officer to advise and help improve the representation of LGBTQI+ people seeking asylum, and help change the asylum and immigration system to one that treats everyone with compassion, dignity and respect.
We are looking for a qualified solicitor or barrister with valid practising certificate, or already accredited to Level 3 OISC, with two years’ experience in providing advice and representation in asylum including working in legal aid.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the legal advice service. Under the guidance of our Legal Service Manager, you will also build capacity amongst legal representatives by designing and delivering training, giving second tier advice and developing and coordinating a network of practitioners working in this area. You will use the knowledge you gain in this role to help deliver Rainbow Migration’s policy work, such as inputting into policy papers and meeting with partner organisations when required.

This is a unique opportunity to build on your experience as a lawyer to improve representation across the sector and create change in government policy and practice. You will be supported to develop as a specialist lawyer and in your policy skills.
Responsibilities will include:
· Deliver one-off advice to adult LGBTQI+ people seeking asylum and work with colleagues to refer them to quality legal aid and pro bono lawyers
· Provide casework assistance e.g. helping to prepare witness statements, making referrals to other specialist organisations and taking other urgent steps (whilst not representing service users or maintaining a caseload)
· Provide occasional advice (within competence) on other issues affecting asylum and partnership service users such as asylum support, legal aid, trafficking, family reunion or community care
· Deliver second tier advice to the legal representatives of LGBTQI+ people seeking asylum and other charities and professionals
· Work with the Legal Service Manager to design and deliver training to lawyers, NGOs and other professionals
· Write blogs and articles on asylum and immigration policy and legislation as they apply to LGBTQI+ people
· Contribute to policy and briefing papers
· Assist with preparing guidelines and briefings for legal services and pro bono lawyers
The Legal Officer will not be providing direct legal representation of service users. However, the role includes substantive advice and casework within the scope of legal support and referrals for our service users, as well as merits testing and second tier advice.

- Liase with both Magic Breakfast and corporate partners' design, PR and social media agencies to deliver effective and timely campaigns

You will directly support our participants for the benefit of Railway Children, so that they are highly impressed by the customer experience they receive from us. We believe that every interaction with the Railway Children should be a positive one for our supporters and you will provide that the service our supporters deserve to enhance their relationship with Railway Children and encourage them to persuade others to support Railway Children too.
The role also plays a pivotal part in making Railway Children more data and insight driven in the way we fundraise and communicate with supporters. You will take a lead in mapping supporter journeys within the events programme as well as researching new corporate supporters and working on employee engagement.

Wherever they may be in the world, they face violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.
Founded in 1996, Railway Children has dedicated over a quarter of a century to developing outstanding practice and services for street connected children. With projects in the UK, India and East Africa, we aim to reach these children as soon as they are in danger and intervene before an abuser can. As we embark on our new strategy to 2027, we have ambitious plans to ensure no child is left behind, wherever we work.
