This role is an exciting opportunity to help realise Tusk’s further growth potential, by implementing and continuing to evolve Tusk’s communications strategy and managing all of Tusk’s communications, from print and digital communications, to engagement with the press and other media. The communications strategy covers Tusk’s operations and fundraising in the UK, US, and across Africa.
The successful candidate will come to the position with a proven track record in marketing and communications, preferably with a good understanding of African wildlife conservation issues and / or working in a charity environment.
The role will be based out of Tusk’s headquarters in Gillingham, Dorset, with the potential for some working from home, as well as travel to London and potentially elsewhere on occasion.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications Strategy
- Develop, implement, review and evaluate Tusk’s communications strategy, working with the senior leadership team, and the Head of Digital, as well as external PR agencies.
- Implement the narrative elements of Tusk’s brand positioning, style and tone of voice, working with the Design and Brand Manager (who manages the visual elements).
- Working with the management team, determine the key issues on which Tusk can have greatest impact (complementing and supporting the role that its Royal Patron can also play) and tailor communications accordingly.
- In conjunction with the fundraising team, develop strategies to enhance communications with Tusk’s different target groups, especially high-net worth individuals, decision-makers, and the public.
- Work with the Tusk team to develop, manage, deliver and evaluate integrated communications campaigns to raise awareness of the threats facing African wildlife, and help secure funds to tackle them.
- Work with the Tusk team to amplify the voices of our project partners, working with African media in particular.
- Plan, execute and evaluate the press and communication needs for major fundraising events, coordinating work with PR agencies as required.
- Line manage the Communications and Content Assistant.
Press and Media Management
- Manage Tusk’s engagement with the press and media to secure greater coverage, coordinating activities with external PR agencies as required.
- Develop relationships with journalists so that Tusk is approached as the leading authority on key conservation-related issues.
- Prepare and disseminate press releases.
- Secure interviews for the CEO and other spokespeople, particularly around key campaigns and events.
- Develop effective platforms from which Tusk’s Royal Patron and other patrons can deliver messages in support of the communications strategy.
Supporter Communications
- Coordinate the production of and edit Tusk’s bi-annual newsletters, annual Tusk Talk magazine, and all other printed marketing collateral, including for events.
- Support the digital team on the development of the Tusk website, writing and uploading regular news posts.
- Manage the Communications and Content Assistant for the implementation of Tusk’s social media strategy and the sending of regular e-shots to Tusk’s e-newsletter subscribers in both the UK and US.
- Support the development of promotional films and podcasts on Tusk’s work.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential:
- A proven track record (minimum 5 years) in developing and delivering communications strategies
- An understanding of working in Africa

- Outstanding writing and editorial skills

Duties and Responsibilities
Provides leadership for all international fundraising, marketing and communications strategy and plans by:
Planning and Management:
- Provide strong leadership and direct line management to the International Fundraising and Marketing team to sustain, develop and grow fundraising, marketing and other initiatives to maximise income and build engagement and brand loyalty from new and existing supporters.
- Develop and manage the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications strategy and associated plans to meet ambitious targets.
- Prepare and present reports on progress, income and expenditure to the International CEO and the International Board.
- Be aware of current legislations, technologies and trends that will benefit the charity.
- Close monitoring of international fundraising income across all sources, and managing the international fundraising and marketing departmental budgets.
- Procure and manage external suppliers and third parties.
- Ongoing risk management and mitigation, escalating risks to the International CEO where appropriate.
Brand and Marketing:
- Develop and lead on the marketing and communications strategies to expand Soi Dog’s reach and increase global awareness and engagement amongst our target audiences with a multi-channel approach.
- Ensure consistency in messaging and brand across all content including social media, digital and press releases.
- Continue to develop the strategy to proactively secure international press and PR opportunities to build brand awareness.
- Co-ordinate an integrated cross-departmental approach with Visual Creative Director and other teams including, Adoptions, Thai Fundraising and external contractors.
Fundraising:
- Lead the development of strategic plans and initiatives, in collaboration with the Senior Management Team and colleagues, to generate additional revenue streams, and grow existing, for the charity.
- Continuously review and seek new major giving opportunities across philanthropy, Trusts and Foundations and corporate partnerships.
- Ensure the team submits robust and timely applications for grants, and provide excellent ongoing stewardship including thanking and impact reports.
- Execute innovative and creative targeted digital fundraising campaigns across various social media platforms to drive donations.
- Oversee all fundraising activity and be the point of sign off for all communications and outgoing campaigns.
- Cultivate existing relationships with long-standing supporters to maintain stability in regular giving.
- Expand networks and maintaining regular communication with philanthropists, major gift donors, and prospects to establish strong relationships and negotiate ongoing opportunities for support and partnerships.
- Manage relationships with external agencies and contractors to optimise return on investment.
- Ensure accurate and timely income projections and reports, fostering a culture of performance and ambition.
- Keep up to date and comply with current Fundraising legislation and standards of each country and/or regions.
Skills and Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior fundraising and marketing role, with a track record of meeting substantial targets and managing multi-million-dollar income and expenditure budgets.
- Outstanding and demonstrable track record of developing and successfully implementing fundraising strategies across a broad range of income streams.
- Excellent understanding and working knowledge of marketing and communication strategy and implementation.
- Substantial experience of developing individual giving and philanthropy programmes, specifically through digital channels, to drive growth, engagement and long-term value.
- Extensive networking and relationship-building skills.

Working Hours and Location
- This is a full-time, permanent position based in Mai Khao, Phuket, Thailand.
- 40 hours, five days a week - office based at the Gill Dalley Sanctuary.

About the role

Background
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. Purpose of role

- Foster a culture of ambition and innovation and support the team to research, develop, and implement new fundraising approaches to recruit new donor groups across all income streams.

- Support the team to develop professional and engaging fundraising materials including fundraising propositions, applications, proposals, appeals, pitches, and reports.
- Take overall responsibility for fundraising compliance and ensure that in all relevant areas, MAP complies with the law, regulation, and stakeholder and contractual obligations with third parties.
- Maintain oversight of the supporter database to ensure integrity, legal compliance, and suitability for MAP's fundraising strategy.
Fundraising Development
- Work with the Head of Individual Giving to deliver and implement a strategy which prioritises both the retention and acquisition of new donors, enhances the use of digital products, platforms, and channels and delivers the highest standard of supporter care and donor stewardship.

About the Foundation:
The Avicenna Foundation was set up in 2023 to to support outstanding young British Muslims by providing them with scholarships for their undergraduate degree. The scholarships are mainly focused on awarding scholarships in the Social Sciences and Humanities for those interested in politics, policy-making and becoming agents of positive change.
Alongside the scholarship, the Avicenna Foundation runs a development programme for the scholars to expand their skills and abilities in various areas like leadership, communication and collaboration.
The Foundation has developed immensely in the first year with the launch of the charity; onboarding of it’s first cohort of 30 scholars and the development of a leadership programme. It now needs propelling into the next stage as the charity develops to ensure a robust charity structure and programme in place.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the charity, and manage changes required within programmes and activities as a result of changing external landscapes or contexts.
- Implement strategies for advertising the scholarships, receiving and reviewing applications, shortlisting candidates, conducting interviews, and making final selection decisions. Some of these things are already in place and may need reviewing and enhancing.

BACKGROUND
Habitat for Humanity Great Britain (Habitat GB) is part of the global Habitat for Humanity Federation fighting global poverty and homelessness. We believe that a decent home helps to permanently break the cycle of poverty and allows families to achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance.
Purpose of The role
To support Habitat for Humanity GB’s (HFHGB) vision of a decent home for everyone, the Director of Development is accountable for leading the development, implementation and performance monitoring of our partnerships, resource mobilisation, communication, and engagement strategies. The Director of Development is also responsible for leading a high performing team to deliver those strategies, and working collaboratively across HFHGB, the international Habitat network (HFHI), and with external partners.
Key responsibilities include the development of Habitat for Humanity’s positioning, fundraising, engagement and strategic partnerships with individuals, trusts, foundations, and corporates, including funds that are blended with institutional and investment income. Strategies will be delivered in a way that is sustainable and high impact, always aligned with our strategy and Habitat for Humanity’s mission. Externally the role develops the profile and positioning of HFHGB as a creative impact partner in development, bringing in new relationships as well as maintaining existing. Development requires creative idea generation and strong collaboration with the wider HFH network as well as partners in the UK.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Development works to ensure the impact, sustainability, diligence and productivity of the organisation, including engaging in organisational transformation, within the framework of a robust people and culture approach.
Main Responsibilities
1.Strategic development and leadership:
· Design, deliver and evaluate/adapt the partnerships and fundraising strategy, setting ambitious and achievable targets to increase impact, through growing income, mobilising other resources and increasing engagement for HFHGB.
· Design and deliver an impactful, opportunistic and responsive brand and communication extension strategy designed to grow the profile of HFHGB with key target audiences.
· Lead fundraising and partnership development across the organisation, leveraging the skills, networks and assets we have from across HFHGB and the Habitat Network to support our strategic goals.
· Maintain awareness of the relevant trends to inform organisational and team strategic planning. Create and maintain a learning culture which identifies opportunities to innovate and adapt.
· Engage with HFHI and the wider sector to inspire, innovate and influence the development of HFHGB partnerships and pro grammes, e.g. learning from other countries, joint approaches to multi-national and multi-stakeholder partnerships.
· Design, deliver and evaluate/adapt the communications and engagement strategy, focussing on activities which will enable HFHGB to deliver it’s strategy through impactful communication, increased brand, visibility, and cross-audience engagement.
2. Income and budget management, reporting and monitoring:
· Set quality standards and meaningful KPIs to encourage ownership and accountability within your team, and effectively monitor progress towards agreed targets.
· Work with the Director of Impact to oversee the active management of the prospect pipeline for the organisation, ensuring it is robust, strategically aligned, has a good spread across different income sources, and allows us to bring in the level and type of funding required.
· Be accountable for fundraising targets against agreed budgets, maintaining an excellent understanding of income (committed or expected).
· Work closely with the Director of Finance & Operations to track performance, and contribute to high quality reporting, income forecasting and budget management.
3. Leading external partnerships and relationships:
· Lead and model development activities with priority prospects, partners and influencers and work with the team to identify new income streams and opportunities.
· Lead and model productive partnering and relationships with Corporate partners, including the cultivation of new prospects.
· Act as senior relationship lead for prioritised high value relationships in coordination with other members of the team.
· Support relationship building with High-Net-Worth Individuals, Trusts and Foundations.
· Work closely with the Director of Impact and other colleagues to ensure the development of high-quality proposals, propositions and reports which leverage opportunities across institutional and non-institutional prospects and contribute to our credibility as a trusted and impactful organisation.
· Develop the profile and positioning of HFHGB in line with the strategic vision of a creative impact partner, among the public, media and supporters/prospects, through the development of resources, online presence and attendance at key events/networks.
· Ensure integrated stewardship, engagement and relationship development plans and activities for all supporters, and support for renewal and upgrade of engagement.
· Be responsive to external challenges as well as opportunities to raise the profile and impact of HFHGB.
4. Leadership and management:
· Lead a high performing and ambitious team, inspired to implement and grow the partnerships and fundraising strategy and the communication and engagement strategy.
· Manage, motivate and develop members of the team, with regular 1-2-1s, setting individual objectives, giving and receiving feedback, progressing people and plans.
· Develop, lead and focus the Development Team, its budget, activities and performance, to ensure the delivery against funding and impact targets.
· Role model our values in line with HFHGB’s inclusive approach to people and culture.
5. Organisational Leadership
· Support the National Director in leading the organisation to deliver HFHGB’s strategy and vision, acting as a collaborative and supportive member of a shared leadership team.
· As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, provide oversight of organisational priorities, productivity, performance, risk and due diligence.
· Be an active leader across the organisation, collaborating effectively with teams, and contributing fully to organisational wide initiatives and opportunities.
· Co-create ways of working to enable an adaptive, collaborative and high performing organisational team.
· Deputise for the National Director when required and represent HFHGB in national and international meetings and forums
Person Specification
· Expert knowledge of multiple fundraising streams, cultivating and stewarding strategic partnerships and best practice in prospect/business development.
· Proven track record of developing and leading innovative partnership and fundraising strategies which deliver ambitious targets.
· Substantial experience of developing audience-centric communication strategies and knowledge of diverse types of communication channels.
· Understanding of charity governance, relevant legal and accounting frameworks and compliance.
· Experience of working in a similar organisation, collaborating across teams and operating in a highly effective way across a diverse, networked structure.
· Significant and successful experience in senior management roles, encompassing strategic management and team leadership.
· Strong budget and financial management skills.

In this newly created role, you will be supported by the Senior Manager, as well as working alongside two other Marketing Managers to develop, deliver and evaluate multi-channel brand campaigns ensuring objectives and integration opportunities are maximised. You will work closely with the healthcare teams to identify marketing opportunities and needs that help them achieve the Sue Ryder vision and strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
· Work closely with in-house and external designers to deliver marketing activities and campaigns,
· Work with the support of the Senior Marketing Manager for Brand & Healthcare - and other Marketing and Communications colleagues where appropriate - to plan, develop and deliver brand engagement campaigns, and B2B (commissioners/referring or partner healthcare professionals) and B2C (service users or current and prospective healthcare colleagues) marketing plans for Sue Ryder’s end of life and bereavement services and healthcare staff recruitment and retention.
· Lead on the account management of our Brand Tracking tool and reporting against our brand measures to the wider organisation.
