Job description

Woodgreen Pets Charity’s vision is a world where all pets are well cared for in loving homes for life. To achieve this, we not only provide care for pets in need, but also help people be the best pet owners they can be.

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity? Do you feel like you’ve got what it takes to excel in customer service?

We’re looking for an apprentice to join our fantastic team. You’ll need to be a team player, enthusiastic and passionate about helping people and pets. As an apprentice you’ll gain on-the-job training and support alongside a structured training programme. As part of this, a functional skills qualification in English and maths may be achieved during the apprenticeship if required.

You’ll be part of a dedicated team that is the first point of contact for Woodgreen customers, and your interactions will range from phone calls, digital and written communication too.

No one day will be the same, although you can expect to give a professional and friendly service every day. As an apprentice you’ll spend time learning the ropes, then as your training progresses, you’ll learn how to assess and respond to the needs of our customers and their pets, whilst providing advice, guidance and support. Showing compassion and empathy will be crucial. You may have to deal with some challenging situations, but you’ll be supported all the way until you feel confident.

You’ll spend time honing your customer service skills, and at the end, you’ll be a fully-fledged Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner. You’ll also learn other valuable skills along the way that will help with your career and personal growth.

What you’ll need

  • Be a confident communicator and team player
  • Passionate about providing our customers with the best service
  • Thrive in a busy working environment
  • Enthusiastic about helping pets and people
  • Find solutions to problems
  • A resilient attitude
  • A desire to use technology and develop your ICT skills

If you would like to work for an exciting and supportive charity that improves the lives of pets and their owners, then we’d love to hear from you.

This apprenticeship is for 15 months with a view to considering permanent roles available in the team on successful completion. This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week Monday to Saturday (on a rota basis) between 8:30am until 4:30pm at our Godmanchester site, PE29 2NH.

The salary for this position is £19,500 per annum. There are different rates of pay for apprentices depending on your age and what year of your apprenticeship you’re in. These are in line with National Minimum Wage for Apprentices.

This salary is complemented by:

  • 36 days annual leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays)
  • Up to 8% employer pension contributions
  • Support towards healthcare costs (cashplan)
  • Free access to Headspace
  • Life assurance (4x salary)
  • 25% discount in our charity shop

To apply please submit a copy of your CV and a Covering Letter. We look forward to receiving your application!

This vacancy may close earlier should we receive high volumes of applications. Interview may commence prior to the closing date.

Woodgreen is committed to safeguarding children and adults at risk and protecting anyone that comes into contact with us from harm. We expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.
