As an IDVA you will provide support to standard and medium risk victims of domestic abuse helping them to increase their safety and make informed choices for their future.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct risk assessment and complete individualised safety and support plans with clients
• Provide support tailored to the needs of your clients either by telephone or face to face
• Advocate for clients with external agencies such as legal services, housing and the courts
• Co facilitate wellbeing and domestic abuse awareness groups
You will need to be a compassionate and resilient professional with:
• A minimum of an A level, NVQ3 or equivalent, a degree or SafeLives / IDVA qualification
• Comprehensive knowledge of domestic abuse, it's impact and relevant legislation
• Excellent communication, advocacy and problem solving skills
• Experience of working with victims of domestic abuse
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable individuals
• Able to travel across Bedfordshire

The Ethical Property Foundation (“EPF”) is unique: the UK’s only dedicated property advice charity for the voluntary sector. (Registered Charity number 1101812 in England & Wales) Incorporated in 2003, we have supported thousands of voluntary organisations to manage their premises successfully whether rented or owned. Since 2015, we have been the lead referral partner to the Charity Commission for land & property advice and preferred supplier to the Lloyds Bank Foundation.
Our mission is to equip voluntary organisations with the knowledge and confidence to make the most of the property they occupy and manage, for the benefit of their services and beneficiaries, without crises or compliance failures.
We are a small, dynamic, and enterprising not-for-profit. Our services comprise free, independent property guidance and support; affordable consultancy; plus online property education. Our combined expertise and unique perspective mean we are much in demand from policymakers, and sector thought leaders. Funding comes from philanthropic donations, grants, corporate partnerships and earned income from affordable consultancy. In 2023, we launched the voluntary sector’s first interactive online Weston Property Manual for which we were finalists in two major voluntary sector awards. In 2024 we celebrated the 21st Anniversary of our incorporation.
We employ four part-time employees: the CEO, Head of Property Services, Operations Manager, and Administrator - 2.45FTE, supported by a further nine self-employed Associates and Volunteers of whom eight are chartered surveyors. In addition, we run an expert Register of fifteen property professionals, primarily commercial property solicitors, who provide advice on a pro-bono and discounted fee basis.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Head of Property Advisory is the lead member of the Property Advice Team comprising Associate Property Advisors. The team is supported by The Foundation’s Register of Property Professionals. The Property Advice Team provides advice, consultancy and educational services. This service is delivered by providing on-line information, free helpdesk guidance, training events and consultancy projects to assist organisations in making informed property decisions. The Head of Property Services will have the following key areas of activity and responsibility:
1. Developing the Affordable Consultancy
The Head of Property Services leads on all aspects of building our affordable consultancy and delivers sales income in line with agreed targets. This will include:
· Identifying potential clients and proactively seeking opportunities to bid for work.
· Responding to enquiries from potential clients, conducting initial meetings to ascertain support required and putting together carefully priced proposals tailored to client needs.
· Developing and maintaining relationships with key partners, including Lloyds Bank Foundation.
· Tracking of enquiries and work in progress with support from the Operations Manager; ensuring accurate records are maintained and providing information and reports to the CEO and Trustees for invoicing and fundraising purposes.
· Developing new products for the charity sector, making the EPF relevant and providing new and growing income streams.
· Ensuring EPF communication channels appropriately promote our services.
2. Management of Property Advice Team
The Head of Property Services directly line-manages the Associates in delivery of the Affordable Consultancy:
· Developing and maintaining appropriate processes and templates for development and delivery of work. Disseminating as necessary and ensuring processes followed by team members.
· Oversight of all support, advice and training provided by the team to ensure consistent high levels of content quality and customer care are maintained.
· Oversight of the free Property Advice Service, co-ordinating with the Property Advisors running the service and responding to enquires who may require affordable consultancy services.
· Ensuring consultancy projects are allocated to team members with appropriate knowledge, experiences and availability.
· Developing excellent working relationships with members of our Register of Property Professionals to introduce charities for effective support.
· Delivering excellent customer care by coordinating the Foundation’s support to charities until their project is resolved.
· Supporting the team to ensure property materials for training and online guidance are accurate and appropriate.
3. Additional duties may include:
· Representing the Foundation and presenting at external events.
· Working proactively to ensure that the Property Advice Team remains up to date with property and charity sector knowledge.
· Develop a broad knowledge of complementary organisations and services that can provide support to enquirers to the Property Advice Service, or opportunities for partnership working or collaboration with the Foundation.
· The Foundation requires all employees to work with due regard for the Foundation’s ethos and policies including health and safety, equality and the environment. All our team must have DBS clearance.

The Team

The team is led by Chris Targett RCDP, who alongside his work at CXK, is the current Chair of the Careers Writers Association and co-author of the recently released Career Development and Inclusive Practice book, published by Trotman Publishing in partnership with the CDI.

The Role
The Careers Adviser will travel across the East Sussex region to a broad range of school and college settings, delivering creative and inclusive Personal Careers Guidance, as well as assemblies and drop-in sessions as required.
Each student and each learning environment will be unique, so the opportunity lends itself well to candidates who enjoy traveling and working in varied locations, meeting people from diverse backgrounds, and educating people of all abilities.
You will routinely liaise with Careers Leaders and senior school/ college staff to arrange and deliver activities for students during the school day. Whilst most delivery will take place between 8:30am and 4pm, travel before and after these times will be required and occasional attendance at parents’ and options evenings will also be required, but you will be given time off in lieu where this is applicable.
We would require you to work five days-a-week, term time only, with a pro rata holiday entitlement. If you would prefer part-time only employment (minimum of three days a week), this can be negotiated.

Forcesline is a free and confidential helpline that provides emotional support and a listening ear to those in the Armed Forces Community who are dealing with financial difficulties, loneliness, isolation or are in some other way struggling to cope with everyday life.
About the role
This role responds to contact made via the Forcesline helpline, which provides a non judgemental welfare support service for serving, ex-service personnel and their families by way of telephone, Webchat and email with potential for other technology in the future. Enquiries include requests for information, practical assistance and emotional support. Our callers are often emotional, frustrated and in many cases, struggling to see a way forward in their lives.
Working hours are 09.00 – 17.30 to reflect the opening hours of the helpline.
About the team
You will work with a great team of advisors who are both experienced and skilled at what they do. All Forcesline Welfare Advisors receive the necessary training for their role including Safeguarding, Data Protection, Diversity and Inclusion and most have a Level 2 Counselling qualification or above. Their experience covers former Samaritans, Pastoral Care workers, Social Work plus Police Officers and Despatchers. As a team they learn and support one another as well as receiving the support SSAFA can offer more widely.
About you
You will have had experience in delivering welfare support to others, and ideally this has been gained through a helpline. You will need to be technically competent with IT equipment, as most of this work will be done virtually through digital means often under high pressure situations. Ideally you will also hold, or be willing to work towards a counselling qualification at level 2 or above.

Main Purpose and Scope of the Job

The IDVA Role and Key Responsibilities
- The IDVA will manage high profile / intensive case work
- To establish the risks to and the needs of survivors, identifying and prioritising those at the highest risk
- To support the empowerment of survivors, assisting them to recognise the dynamics of domestic abuse present in their own situation, and to help them regain control of their lives
- To ensure that SafeLives DASH Risk assessment, Individual Safety & Support Plans are completed and updated on a regular basis.
- To ensure that support planning is outcome focused and that clients inform the type and level of support that they receive.
Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of domestic violence its impact on victims and their children (physical, emotional, financial and sexual, with knowledge of ‘honour- based violence’ , forced marriage and Female Genital Mutilation)
- Knowledge of perpetrators abusive behaviours within relationships, including family relationships, male victims and same sex relationships.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
- At least one years’ experience of managing a caseload and of supporting service users.
- Experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Previous experience of using computer-based systems to accurately record work and client details.

Tower Hamlets Solace Advocacy and Support Service (SASS) provides advocacy and support to survivors of DVA with the aim to reduce risk and harm. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives free from abuse.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced IDVA to join our dynamic team in Tower Hamlets, working with people who have experienced domestic violence and abuse. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with external agencies in particular DWP.
As the DWP IDVA you are responsible for carrying out risk and needs assessments, safety planning and providing support and intervention to victim/survivors of domestic violence identified at Poplar jobcentre. About the role
Reporting in to the Government and Parliamentary Lead, the role of Parliamentary and Influencing Advisor is a key member of the Policy and Influencing team.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
The Health IDVA provides vital support to those affected by domestic abuse, helping them access the specialist services they need and navigate challenges in their daily lives. You will work directly with patients with a wide range of experiences and needs, offering advocacy, guidance, and practical support. A key part of the role is raising awareness among community healthcare professionals about the impact of domestic abuse, particularly on mental health, through training, guidance, and ongoing support, so that patients are identified earlier and supported more effectively.
This role addresses a need in community healthcare, where many patients are not recognised as survivors of domestic abuse. By combining domestic abuse expertise with a therapeutic approach, the Health IDVA will provide direct support to patients while helping community services and healthcare teams feel confident and equipped to respond appropriately. You will be supported by the Head of Adult Services and HIDVA Managers. You will have the opportunity to complete a formal domestic abuse qualification once you pass your probation (if not already qualified).
Through this work, the Health IDVA will help ensure that patients receive timely, compassionate support while also strengthening the skills, confidence, and understanding of community services and professionals. By building strong partnerships and sharing expertise, the role will contribute to a more coordinated and effective response to domestic abuse, ensuring that patients are supported at every stage and that services are better equipped to meet their needs.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support to Survivors
- Hold a caseload of clients, including NHS staff.
- Ensure survivors are fully informed of their rights and options, and explain the criminal and civil legal remedies available to them.
- Promote enhanced safety and wellbeing for victim-survivors accessing community healthcare, including NHS staff.
- Conduct needs and risk assessments, including DASH (Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Honour Based Abuse Risk Assessment), to determine appropriate levels of support. Develop and implement safety plans collaboratively with clients to address their needs in a timely manner.
- Assist clients in accessing appropriate legal, financial, housing, medical, educational, and employment services, as well as counselling and community support networks.
- Work in partnership with police, housing providers, and other agencies to advocate for survivors and facilitate referrals to ongoing support services.
- Attend Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences when required (MARAC) and make referrals where appropriate.
- Recognise and address the needs of survivors who experience additional barriers to accessing services, including those from minority groups or with protected characteristics.
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities for children, young people, and adults, in line with Child Protection Procedures and safeguarding policies.
- Maintain accurate client records, monitoring data, and outcome information. Prepare reports and evaluations as required for service monitoring.
- Participate in an out-of-hours rota, providing a HIDVA service within the hospital on Friday evenings and weekends as scheduled
Partnership Working and Training
- Promote the Health IDVA service and establish formal working links with GP practices and other healthcare providers (such as dental, health visiting or mental health teams.
- Attend safeguarding, handover and partnership meetings to raise awareness of the service and share our knowledge so earlier identification of domestic abuse within community healthcare settings can be achieved.
- Deliver training sessions to community healthcare staff to raise awareness of domestic abuse, safe enquiry and appropriately responding to disclosures.
- Contribute to multi-agency safeguarding meetings and local domestic abuse forums to share learning and strengthen partnership working.
