Role Summary

As the Fundraising Coordinator, you will be responsible for helping create and implementing strategies to fundraise from both existing and new sources (individuals, mosques, grants etc.) with the aim of securing the long-term financial stability of Roots Academy.

Key tasks

Fundraising Planning:

• Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve income goals.
• Identify potential new funding sources and opportunities for income generation.

Campaign Management:

• Plan and oversee fundraising campaigns and events, including direct appeals, online campaigns, and fundraising events at mosques.
• Coordinate with marketing and communications teams to develop compelling fundraising material.

Proposal Development:

• Research trusts, foundations and corporations for grant opportunities.
• Work with the team to develop proposals, supporting with grant writing when needed.

Budget Oversight:

• Work closely with the finance team to monitor fundraising budgets, expenditure, and financial projections.

Donor Relations:

• Support with Donor Communications in activities related to donor relationship management and stewardship.

• Strong understanding of fundraising principles and techniques, including donor cultivation

About Been There:

 

Been There is a small (but growing!) charity in the form of an app that connects people aged 18 and over with a vetted and trained mentor to help with any body image issues they may be experiencing. This gives them the opportunity to speak to someone who has ‘Been There’ themselves. Our Mentors are here to support, empower and, most importantly, listen.

About the role:

 

If you are an experienced fundraiser, we need your help! Been There’s Board of Trustees share ultimate responsibility for governing the charity and directing how it is managed and run. As a member of the Board, you will help set the strategic aims, objectives and direction of the charity. The skills and knowledge you bring will enhance the Board and support Been There in achieving its charitable objectives

 

As a Fundraising Trustee, you will play a key role within our charity in assisting the Board to develop an ambitious fundraising strategy and help us to further improve the effectiveness of our income generation so we can maximise the number of service users we can provide support to. You will help to ensure our fundraising is of the highest standard and that we are meeting our fundraising objectives as well as complying with our legal duties. Alongside relevant experience, you will also possess an ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritising multiple tasks, and will be a natural team player with excellent written and spoken English.

Board meetings are held every other month for 2 hours (two via Zoom and one per quarter in Kingston-Upon-Thames). If required, this role can be completely remote and you can attend the quarterly meeting over video call.

 

Role Summary:

Main Responsibilities:

 

· Oversee fundraising to make sure it is carried out in legal, honest, and accountable ways.

· Strategically assess where fundraising fits into the overall charity strategy, and work with the Trustees to ensure effective income generation is being achieved.

· Contributing knowledge of fundraising techniques, best practice, and strategies.

· Assessing risks in new fundraising directions, alerting the Board of Trustees in a timely manner, as and when necessary, of key concerns.

· To report to the Board at a strategic level on the successes and challenges of the fundraising strategy.

· To help the charity further develop its fundraising capabilities through effective people and processes.

· On an ad hoc basis, to work with the Chair of Trustees and the Communications Manager, outside of the Trustee meetings, to support and develop the fundraising strategy.

Person Specification:

 

· To have substantial background as a senior charity fundraiser with a sound understanding and experience of charity fundraising at strategic and operational levels.

· A good understanding of fundraising within a small charity and the challenges facing small charities.

· Experience of diverse income generation practices.

Purpose of the role

To conduct research and apply for grants and funding that Rebuilding Lives UK are eligible for.  To contribute to fundraising strategies and share and implement fundraising ideas.

What you will be doing

We are looking for fundraiser volunteers to join our team to: 

• Lead research for grants and funding that the charity is eligible for.
• Prepare information about grants, trusts and foundations, advising the CEO and Trustees of the requirements for the applications, the deadlines being worked towards and the final outcomes.
• Write and tailor content for grant applications as required.
• Support with the grant application process and build relationships with trusts and other stakeholders.

VOLUNTARY GRANT FUNDRAISER

Alex TLC is a trusted and experienced organisation offering support and information for all those affected by leukodystrophy. Leukodystrophies are rare genetic disorders that mainly affect the white matter of the central nervous system, (ie the brain or spinal cord). They affect people of all ages and backgrounds, most notably children. Leukodystrophies are usually degenerative, causing symptoms such as impaired mobility, vision, speech and hearing, incontinence, inability to swallow and loss of cognitive skills. In many cases, this sadly means a reduced or limited lifespan.

Established in 2004, we are recognised by the NHS and global stakeholders as the "go to" organisation for those affected by these devastating conditions in the UK.

Like many other small charities, we have grown organically from an informal support group to the recognised voice for leukodystrophy patients and their families. To fulfil our charitable objectives, we need to increase and sustain our grant income levels.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Working with our Trusts and Grants Fundraiser, we are looking for volunteers, preferably with experience of grant fundraising, to:

• research potential grant making trusts for relevance to our specific objectives
• send applications using existing templates
• update our systems with details of applications

The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is recruiting for a Trustee (Treasurer) and wants to hear what you could offer. 

You will support our Board of Trustees, Youth Advisory Group, Chief Executive Officer and Leadership Team in achieving our strategic Ambitions. You will join our 10-strong Board of Trustees, responsible for keeping the charity on track to make sure the best outcomes for young people are always delivered. 

The full Board meets four times a year with five committees (Finance and Investment; Governance; Fundraising; HR and Personnel; and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging) overseeing and ensuring the ongoing impartial governance of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust. Meetings are usually held in London or Southampton (travel expenses can be reimbursed) and the option to join digitally is always available. Some support outside of meetings is required, and we ask Trustees to commit to approximately 1/2 a day per month. With this role’s Treasurer responsibilities, additional support to the CEO and Bookkeeper will be required around the annual audit (usually March-June). The role is unpaid.

We are looking for 2 skilled grant writer volunteers who can take the lead in researching appropriate funds and writing grant bids to help us continue offering our support services and resources and helping us create new programmes and services to support patients and their families who have been affected by a poorly understood chronic condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).

As our Grant Writer you will be responsible for identifying appropriate grant opportunities, and managing the grant development and proposal process from research to submitting grant applications with any supporting documents.

As our grant writer, you will:

• Identify appropriate sources of funding where we fit their criteria

Other Information

The Pelvic Radiation Disease Association (PRDA) is looking for a Chair of Trustees to provide strategic leadership for the charity, working in partnership with our Operations Manager and supported by a committed team of Trustees.

Who we are

Pelvic Radiation Disease (PRD) is a long-term side-effect (‘late effect’) of pelvic radiotherapy treatment affecting an estimated 100,000 people in the UK.  People affected by PRD often have a complex set of symptoms affecting the bowel, bladder, sexual function or other functions for many years after radiotherapy, sometimes only appearing several years after radiotherapy treatment

PRDA is a small UK charity whose objectives are to see that the effects of PRD are minimised, that people affected by PRD are given the best possible care and treatment, and that PRD is accepted as a serious problem and given the attention it deserves.

Duties of the Chair

In addition to the duties of a Trustee, the Chair will:

• Provide strategic leadership to the charity and the Board, ensuring that PRDA achieves its mission.
• Work in partnership with the Operations Manager and team to achieve our mission.
• Lead the board in ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation.
• Optimise the relationship between the board and PRDA’s staff and volunteers.
• Plan and chair the board meetings and the AGM, with others as appropriate.
• Act as a spokesperson and figurehead for PRDA.

The Wren Project relies on dedicated volunteers to offer listening support to people living in distress as a result of an autoimmune disease diagnosis. As our volunteer, you would provide remote, one-to-one listening support to individuals living with the complexities of a diagnosis. As a volunteer, you would offer 1:1 listening support to those affected by auto-immune conditions. Here are the key details:

Role Description:

• Listening Support: Volunteers provide empathetic and non-judgmental listening support to people living with autoimmune diseases (referred to as “Our Wrens”). A volunteer's focus is on allowing Wrens to express their feelings without offering advice or solutions.

• Regular Sessions: You’ll participate in fortnightly 50-minute sessions with two separate Wrens via telephone or video call.

• Training and Assessment: After submitting an application, successful applicants undergo a 4-week remote training program focused on listening skills and supporting individuals with autoimmune diseases. A final one-to-one assessment ensures readiness before matching with a Wren.

• Ongoing Support: Volunteers receive ongoing support and the opportunity to continue to develop their listening skills from experienced volunteers, Operations team and clinical supervisors.

Requirements:

• No Prior Knowledge Needed: Volunteers do not need specific knowledge or experience related to autoimmune diseases.

• An empathetic and understanding attitude;

• A quiet and private space to conduct appointments;

• Access to a computer, telephone and a reliable internet connection;

• Confidentiality, professionalism and reliability;

• Monthly Commitment: Regular attendance (twice a month) is required for an  initial 12 month period.

• Skill-Building: Gain lifelong skills in deep listening and develop reflective skills by attending monthly reflective practice sessions

What difference will you make?

Our volunteers provide a space for those in distress with an autoimmune disease to feel heard. Through listening and reflecting with our Wrens, our volunteers can help Wrens to feel supported and less isolated.

The Wren Project is the only charity in the UK to provide  support for all autoimmune diseases.

We’re extending Ealing Book Festival'sBoard of Trustees to fulfil our long-term ambitions. We have a friendly, experienced team and financial strengths. Activities take place in central Ealing. Transport links are good.

Ealing Book Festival registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in November 2023. Its objects are to advance the public education in West London’s Ealing through an annual book festival and writing-related events for the enjoyment of books. We encourage reading for pleasure, working widely and inclusively. We are volunteer led.

Our April 2024 the charity ran its successful first main event, with 86% tickets sold and very positive feedback on the quality and range of the events. The festival comprised 19 events including a great children’s poetry competition. We’re planning for April 2025.

Trustee Role Description

Purpose of role:

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Wandsworth Care Alliance (WCA).

Scope and objectives:

Trustees have a duty individually and collectively to:

• Determine the overall direction and development of WCA through good governance and clear strategic planning.
• Ensure that WCA pursues the objectives defined in its governing documents, and complies with charity law, company law, employment legislation, and with all other relevant legislation, constantly striving for best practice in governance.
• Uphold the financial responsibilities invested in their position, undertaking such duties in a way that adds to public confidence and trust in WCA.
• Ensure that WCA uses its resources in pursuit of its charitable objects.

Main duties:

• To contribute actively to the Board’s role in providing direction for WCA, in setting overall policy and in maintaining a framework of good governance and accountability, and in evaluating performance against agreed targets.
• To give clear direction, leadership, guidance, and advice to the WCA director and staff.
• To safeguard the good name and values of WCA and to act as an ambassador for the organisation.
• To provide vision, inspiration, and support to the WCA director and staff.
• To ensure the effective and efficient administration of WCA.

Duty of care:

Each Trustee will:

• Be ready to consider the need for external professional advice on matters where there may be material risk to the charity, or where the Trustees may be in breach of their duties;
• Safeguard the good name and values of WCA.
• Maintain absolute confidentiality about sensitive information received in the course of responsibilities as a Trustee.

Each Trustee will:

• Ensure that the charity is and will remain solvent; keeping informed of the charity’s activities and financial position;
• Avoid undertaking activities that might place the charity’s property, funds, assets or reputation at undue risk.

Each Trustee is required to act reasonably and prudently in all matters relating to the charity and must always bear the interests of WCA in mind.

Section 72(1) of the Charities Act 1993 disqualifies anyone who:

• Has been convicted of an offence involving deception or dishonesty unless the conviction is spent.
• Is an un-discharged bankrupt.
• Has previously been removed from trusteeship of a charity by the court or the Charity Commissioners.
• Is under a disqualification order under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986.

It is an offence to serve as a charity trustee while disqualified unless the Charity Commission has given a waiver under section 72(4) of the Charities Act 1993.

Accountability:

The law imposes a duty of care on Trustees to act responsibly and prudently in all matters relating to their charity and to act in the best interests of the charity.

WCA is a registered Charity and Company Limited by guarantee and Trustees are therefore accountable to the members, the Charity Commission, and to Companies House (as company directors).

Suitability as a WCA Trustee will include many of the following:

• Commitment to Wandsworth Care Alliance (WCA).
• Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort.
• Availability to attend meetings regularly.
• Strategic vision.
• Good, independent judgement.

Trustees should possess:

• Commitment to Wandsworth Care Alliance (WCA);
• Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort. This will include attending a minimum of six out of the eight Board meetings a year, plus additional related meetings, in addition to the Annual General Meeting;
• Contribute to WCA Strategic vision;
• Good, independent judgement;
• Ability to think creatively;
• Willingness to speak their mind, and to lead and contribute to discussions enabling their professional experience to contribute to trustee’s decision- making;
• Willingness to use their experience and or specific technical skills for work areas reserved for Trustees;
• Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship and the governance role;
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team;
• Ambassadorial ability;
• Chairing skills or the willingness to develop them.

Role Summary

As the grants officer, you will work closely with the fundraising team and the academic team, to write proposals and apply for funding. This will involve research into grants offered by trusts, foundations and institutions, identifying which opportunities Roots Academy would be eligible for, and playing a key role in developing proposals for grant applications.

Key tasks

- Research:

○ Research trusts, foundations, institutions and other funding bodies that offer funding for Islamic education, BAME education, other faith based or inter-faith work, building community cohesion, or other areas which would be applicable to Roots Academy.

○ Identify key funding opportunities and calls for applications.

- Grant Writing and Coordination:

○ Plan and oversee the proposal development process, working closely with the academic team to collate relevant planning and impact information for proposal narrative, and with the finance team to prepare budget requirements.

○ Ensure proposals are written in line with the relevant proposal guidelines.

○ Submit grant applications.

- Donor Relations:

○ Act as the main point of contact for trusts, foundations, institutions and other funding bodies.
