We need the support of a Board Secretary, an important role that helps keep trustees on top of our meetings and deliverables throughout the Othona year. 

What will you be doing?

The role of the Othona Community Board Secretary is to administer the Trustee meetings,

• Take and manage the Trustee/Director Meeting minutes

• Ensure essential Board and organisational records are maintained and filed without our Cloud Storage

• Support the chair and all members of the Board in fulfilling their statutory and other duties

• Informally the Board Secretary acts as the ‘memory’ of the Board

Our Christian Community was established in 1946 and has two retreat centres on the coasts of Dorset and Essex.  We are open to those of all faiths and none and our daily life follows a pattern of work worship study and play

We are looking for up to three talented people to bring wider expertise to our board and complement the skills of our elected pharmacists and the Chair, Joe Irvin OBE. Our Trustees will help steer our strategic direction and ensure the good governance and financial wellbeing of the College.

With a proud history of more than a century, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society is now transforming itself into the Royal College of Pharmacy, a registered charity providing public benefit, to sit alongside the other medical royal colleges. This change is due in Spring 2026.

As we already have expertise in pharmacy, this is not a requirement however one of the new trustees must have specialist expertise in charity finance.  This is a voluntary role, and you would be expected to attend formal board meetings (in person and online) four times a year – and annually for a full-day strategic review and planning session. Trustees serve for a term of up to three years with an option for appointment for a further two terms.

Principal Duties as a Board Member:

• Contribute actively to the Board, in giving firm strategic direction to the charity, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets

• Ensure that the charity complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations

• Ensure that the charity pursues its mission, as defined by the objects in its governing document and uses its resources exclusively for the delivery of that mission

• Ensure effective and efficient administration of the charity

 Person Specification:

• Demonstrable strategic leadership – with ability to focus on long-term direction and outcomes rather than operational detail

• Experience leading or advising organisations through growth, change, or uncertainty

• Experience within or exposure to sectors with particular sensitivities or complexities, e.g. healthcare, membership, safeguarding or equality-focused work.

• It would be desirable to bring expertise in any of the following areas: change management, marketing and communication, commercial success of a trading subsidiary, safeguarding, education, professional accreditation

• Knowledge of the wider healthcare environment and in particular patient voice would also be an advantage.

We are seeking a skilled individual to undertake casework in the Community and Integration team. The Community and Integration team supports our clients, through their recovery and journey at the Helen Bamber Foundation, to lead independent lives. We do this by assisting and supporting clients to access education, training, volunteering opportunities and internal and external integration focussed activities. We also run a programme of creative arts and skills-based classes including; English, yoga, textiles, and digital skills. 

This volunteer will also attend and support our Community Group for HBF clients which takes place fortnightly on Thursdays. It is run from the on-site community space at our Old Street offices. At each session we have a main activity which could be arts & crafts, dance, music, or information sessions around healthcare and how to access education. We play games at the start and end of every session, and we always share a delicious and nutritious lunch.

If you have good communication skills, experience in casework or another 1-to-1 support role, excellent admin skills, and are keen to get experience in a Human Rights charity, we encourage you to apply! 

Main tasks and activities 

As a Community and Integration Casework volunteer you will:

• Regularly work on a one to one basis with our clients, remotely via telephone appointment, to support them to access and engage with integration activities and opportunities; i.e. support a client to enrol in college, sign up to an employment scheme, or find and access a local sports/activity group etc. 

• Contact clients to invite them to HBF’s group activities and work closely with the Community and Integration team to ensure the needs of any new joiners are met 

• Liaise with the external organisations in the community, as well as local colleges 

• Support our clients to identify and work towards their goals and help to foster their integration into their local community 

• Use and build on HBF’s directory of education/employment/skills providers and grant funders database

• Make individual grant applications for clients in need of financial support to assist with their education needs or other integration activities 

• Attend and support our Community Group, which takes place fortnightly on Thursdays

• Maintain accurate and timely client records and follow-up work 

• Other administrative duties as required 

Skills and experience needed 

• Proven experience in a 1:1 support role

• Knowledge of the rights and entitlements of asylum seekers and refugees, specifically surrounding education and employment 

• Knowledge of the challenges facing vulnerable clients including asylum seekers, refugees and survivors of torture, trafficking, and a demonstrable empathy for this client group 

• Excellent written and spoken English 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

• Ability to manage own time and workload, and to prioritise a range of competing demands and maintain accurate records 

• Awareness of confidentiality and data protection 

• Good IT skills including the use of databases, email, word processing

The Wolverhampton Baby Bank, our flagship service, provides essential items and support to families with children aged 0–3. Through donated essentials and community engagement, we offer:

As WFRC stabilises and restructures following recent operational challenges, we are seeking a strong, structured, and compassionate Baby Bank Manager to lead the service forward.

The Role

The Baby Bank Manager will lead the operational delivery and structured rebuild of WFRC’s flagship Baby Bank service.

This is a critical leadership role combining operational management, volunteer coordination, stock oversight, client support, compliance, and reporting.

WFRC operates as a not-for-profit organisation but must function with business-level accountability and sustainability. The successful candidate will embed systems and processes that ensure continuity beyond individuals.

Overview of the role

Warrington Foodbank are seeking someone to take the lead in organising and  monitoring the work of our Board of Trustees, liaising between members to ensure our strategy and operations remain on track. As our Secretary of Trustees you will lead the administrative duties of the Board of Trustees, ensuring that its activities are conducted within the legal requirements, with board meetings being properly administered.

Responsibilities

As a trustee you will share collective responsibility for the governance of the food bank and all decisions made by the board, ensuring the organisation is well run, fulfils its mission, is compliant with charity law and that the charity is open and accountable. 

The Secretary of Trustees is responsible for leading on the administrative duties of the food bank and Board of Trustees. They will ensure that the foodbank’s activities are conducted within legal requirements, and that board meetings are properly administered. The Secretary will also lead on the development and management of policy schedules, ensuring that the Board of Trustees are aware and kept up to date regarding their legal, regulatory, and governance responsibilities.

Key tasks:

• to ensure that there is a record of all Trustee Board correspondence to ensure that details of Trustee meetings are circulated to the board together with minutes of the previous meeting and any other instructions in good time to ensure the trustee board meets its legal obligations, including reporting, meeting charity and company law, as well as insurance requirements

• to ensure all relevant stakeholders are informed of the annual general meeting (AGM)

• to ensure that the annual report (to accompany the annual accounts) is produced and sent to the relevant charity regulator body (Charity Commission of England & Wales).

Other responsibilities, along with the Board of Trustees, include:

• to approve, support and guide the charity’s purpose, vision, strategy, goals and objectives 

• to manage the charity’s resources responsibly, including ensuring the charity’s assets are used only to carry out its purpose, avoid undue risk, and not over-commit the charity

• to ensure the effective and efficient administration of the charity, responding to changes in the local community as appropriate

• to ensure that key risks are identified, monitored and controlled appropriately

• To ensure appropriate financial plans are in place, budgets are monitored, and progress is evaluated

• to review and approve financial statements 

• to help promote the organisation to key stakeholders and beneficiaries

• to ensure the charity has appropriate procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice, including employment, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion, safeguarding, and GDPR compliance/data protection

• to prepare for and regularly attend and participate in board and subcommittee meetings and any trustee away days.

The Role – HR Assistant
We are looking for a proactive HR Assistant to support the HR Manager in managing our growing volunteer network. You’ll help with onboarding, records, and HR processes that ensure volunteers feel supported.

Responsibilities:

• Support recruitment and onboarding of new volunteers.
• Maintain HR and volunteer records with accuracy.
• Assist with drafting role descriptions and volunteer agreements.

The difference you will make to cats and people

Without the passionate and committed teams of volunteers across Cats Protection we wouldn’t be able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us for help. The purpose of this role is to support the organisation with communications and administration at a local level. You’ll play an active part in the branch committee and support the branch with record keeping and planning, thus enabling more cats to be helped.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

• Disseminating relevant organisation-wide information and updates to the branch volunteers
• Supporting engagement and communication between the branch and wider organisation
• Drafting committee meeting agendas and taking and sharing meeting minutes
• Supporting the efficient running of the branch by ensuring administration processes are carried out effectively
• Supporting the administration and update of the branch annual plan 
• Sign-posting queries from members of the public
• Keeping branch records and information up to date and secure, using Cats Protection systems – training will be provided

Time expectation

Our support volunteers usually spend 2-5 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!
