Bromley Brighter Beginnings is a local charity founded in 2012 which provides essential baby, child and household items to families facing poverty.
We believe no child should be disadvantaged because of financial hardship, and no parent should have to struggle to meet their family’s basic needs.

Join our team as a Grants & Fundraising Volunteer and help secure the funding that keeps our services going. In this role, you’ll support our Fundraising & Communications Lead with tasks that directly impact how many families we’re able to help.

What You’ll Do

• Research and identify potential grant funding opportunities (“horizon scanning”)
• Help maintain our 'tracker' of funding opportunities
• Assist with drafting and editing grant applications
• Attend relevant online events or webinars to stay up to date with funding trends
• Support the preparation of reports and updates for current funders

• Experience of researching and / or writing grant applications / funding bids

 In htis role you will play a vital role in supporting our fundraising campaigns, events and initiatives aimed at providing essential services to individuals affected by cancer. You will work closely with our Community & Individual Giving Fundraiser to assist with our in-house fundraising efforts and provide support to individuals undertaking challenges and events on behalf of The Mulberry Centre, seeing defined projects through from start to finish.

Time Commitment – A regular commitment of at least 2 days a week (Majority of which would be office based) for a minimum of 6 months or preferably longer term.

Main Duties

To work within an agreed brief with the support of the Supporter Engagement Lead on the following:

· Fundraising Campaign Support: Assisting with the planning, execution and evaluation of fundraising campaigns, including online and offline initiatives.

· Event Support: Helping to organise and facilitate fundraising events, ensuring smooth execution and maximum engagement from participants and supporters.

· Individual Support: Helping your Lead provide guidance and encouragement to individuals undertaking challenges and events in support of The Mulberry Centre, offering assistance in fundraising strategies and goal setting using the fundraising pack.

· Marketing and Advertising: Utilising transferable skills in marketing and advertising to promote fundraising campaigns and events, both online and offline, to maximize reach and participation.

· Community Engagement: Researching and engaging with the local community, small businesses, and organisations to foster partnerships and support and prizes for fundraising efforts.

· Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of fundraising activities, donations, and participant information, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.

· Correspondence: Drafting accurate, well-structured emails, letters and reports with agreed key messages and information.

· Any other duties appropriate for the role and adhering to The Mulberry Centre’s policies.

Position Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career development professional to build hands-on experience in community fundraising and operational support. Based in the coastal town of Fort Dauphin, the Junior Fundraising and Operational Support Officer will play a key role in strengthening SEED’s community fundraising and supporting crowdfunding campaigns.

A core part of the role will be providing exceptional care to SEED’s community fundraisers, incoming staff and volunteers ensuring timely and professional communication. The postholder will lead volunteer and staff onboarding, supporting smooth and well-prepared arrivals in country, enhance communications and digital content, and assist with operational systems that underpin SEED’s work. 

The role will build strong relationships with schools, workplaces, running clubs, and community organisations in donor countries, supporting them to raise vital funds and awareness for SEED’s work. This will include identifying and researching new fundraising opportunities, stewarding community fundraising activities (such as bake sales and seasonal campaigns), and supporting fundraisers and volunteers to use third-party platforms effectively. 

Working within a collaborative national and international team, this is an office-based role with occasional field visits with opportunities to gain experience across fundraising, operations, and the realities of working in international development practice in a dynamic, cross-cultural environment. 

Title: Junior Fundraising and Operational Support Officer

Location: Fort Dauphin, Madagascar

Commitment: 12 months; Monday to Friday (35 hours a week)

Salary: Voluntary position, with local monthly stipend towards accommodation and a contribution of £650 towards insurance

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Lead the onboarding of new staff, ensuring timely and well-prepared arrivals in country

2. Act as the primary point of contact for onboarding queries, both prior to and after arrival

3. Onboard and support international volunteers, including in their roles as individual fundraisers

4. Develop engaging fundraising materials and messaging across digital platforms 

5. Collaborate with the Communications team to produce engaging volunteer scheme marketing content

6. Support the design and delivery of community fundraising campaigns to grow crowdfunding income

7. Ensure consistency in branding and messaging across all fundraising outputs

8. Develop and deliver training and resources to strengthen capacity among volunteers and staff

9. Build and strengthen relationships with institutions in donor countries to grow community fundraising and crowdfunding opportunities

10. Identify and pursue new partnerships, networks, and platforms to increase fundraising reach

11. Monitor and evaluate fundraising performance, using insights to improve future campaigns

12. Support the Conservation Team in Sainte Luce with volunteer orientations and pastoral care as required

13. Provide pastoral care to international staff and volunteers, supporting wellbeing alongside line managers

14. Act as a point of contact for welfare concerns, responding in line with organisational policies

15. Take clear and accurate minutes during meetings, ensuring actions are tracked

16. Promote and uphold SEED’s policies, including safeguarding, whistleblowing, and anti-corruption

17. Undertake additional tasks as required to support wider organisational priorities

Required Skills & Experience/Person Specification 

• Hold an undergraduate degree or be able to demonstrate a passion for this area

• Be able to work independently and be proactively

• Have good all-round computing skills and experience in Microsoft Office 

• Have previous experience working to deadlines, highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities

• Communicate clearly and engagingly in written English across a range of media forms

• Communicate verbally to encompass the range of cultures you will be working with

• To have a good level of written English and be able to proofread documents to a high standard

• Be fluent in English. A working knowledge of French is desirable but not essential

• To have a proactive, creative approach to fundraising and problem-solving

• Ideally have previous experience living, working or travelling in a developing country, though is not essential

• Be capable and comfortable adapting to life in a low-income country context, sometimes with basic living conditions

• Be able to adjust to life in another culture and a foreign language and be able to always work with cultural sensitivity

• Be comfortable with campsite conditions whilst supporting the volunteers in the field for days at a time

• Be able to work and socialise within a small group of people and to be respectful and take personal responsibility for maintaining a good reputation for the NGO in the community

• Demonstrate the ability, social skills and confidence to give clear guidance and support to other members of the team in respect of the philosophy and procedures of SEED to protect both their safety and the reputation of the NGO.

Event Fundraising Volunteer

Role Description

Volunteers are incredibly important to Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity. We cannot achieve our mission without them. They help us reach a wider audience and spread our message to a more diverse group and help us raise vital funds to help communities in Greater Manchester.

Role Purpose

Fundraising Volunteers help us to deliver our portfolio of events throughout the year, across Greater Manchester. This may include helping with organising in the lead up to the event or helping at the actual event, and after. There are many different ways to volunteer with Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity.

Main Activities

Gala Dinner – every March we throw a HUGE bash for businesses in Greater Manchester, up to 400 people join us to raise funds for our work. It’s a lot of fun, but it’s also a lot of hard work and we need people to help on the night with selling raffle tickets, meeting and greeting guests, and generally ensuring the night runs smoothly.

Bus Pull – our annual Bus Pull brings together businesses and groups to pull a bus at Manchester Central to raise funds. It’s a great team building day and the element of competition always makes it a lively event. Duties may include signing in teams and ensuring they know when they are taking part, cheering on teams and generally helping the event run smoothly.

24 Hour Run – another key event on the Manchester calendar attracting over 1,000 participants to run laps of 5km around the city. We need help with signing in runners, organising the groups, cheering them on and welcoming them back and making them feel appreciated for all that they have done!

Winter Campaign – our annual Winter Campaign gains a lot of media interest locally. We are going to be growing this over the coming years with new opportunities for fundraising, this might include events, gatherings or other engagement plan.

What do we need from you?

Reliability – if you sign up as a volunteer please ensure you have the time and capacity to do so. We don’t want to add to your workload! Volunteering for Grater Manchester Mayor’s Charity should be fun and rewarding, not another thing on your ‘to do list’.

Happy to chat – our volunteers are our ‘front face’ at our events and we need to know that you are happy to do that. Of course, we will try to give you a role that takes advantage of your skills, but our events by their very nature are working with people!

Embraces a fast paced environment – events are busy places, plans change in an instant, quick thinking is needed. You will need to embrace the chaos!

Behave like a pro – whilst you are at our events or wearing our t-shirts you are #TeamGMMC, we therefore you expect you to behave in a way that does us proud, you are the front face for our brand.

What we will do for you

· ALWAYS make you feel part of the team and our mission

· We will share our Impact report to help you better understand our mission and impact

· Provide you with a GMMC contact if you have any questions, changes of plan etc

· Provide you with a cool t-shirt to wear at any event

· Make sure you have all details about events, what your role will be, where to meet and what time.

· Cover all your out-of-pocket expenses to attend the event (we will only cover Greater Manchester travel)

· Keep you fuelled – at every event we will ensure that there are appropriate refreshments available, this might not be a 3-course meal but we will do our best.

· Ask for an event debrief – we will share a form after events to ask for your feedback on what went well for you, what didn’t, we are always looking to improve how we do things. Your voice is key to this.

Our vision for volunteering

Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!
