Dorothy House is seeking an exceptional and inspirational leader to join its Board of Trustees with the intention of becoming the charity's next Chair.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced board leader to help shape the future of hospice and end-of-life care, providing strategic leadership, strong governance and influential external advocacy for one of the region's leading hospices. We are looking for an individual with the vision, credibility and commitment to support Dorothy House through its next phase of development and ensure it continues to deliver outstanding care and support for people and families at some of the most important moments in their lives.

As a Trustee and prospective Chair, you will help lead the Board in setting the organisation's long-term direction, ensuring effective governance, financial sustainability and organisational resilience. You will bring the ability to think strategically, navigate complexity, build strong relationships and act as an authentic ambassador for Dorothy House across a wide range of stakeholders and partners.

About the Role (Unremunerated Volunteer Position)

We are seeking someone who can demonstrate:

• Significant board-level leadership experience as a Chair, Trustee, Non-Executive Director or equivalent.
• Experience chairing boards, committees or senior decision-making forums.
• Support to the organisation in anticipating and responding to changing patterns of need, demographic trends, health inequalities, workforce challenges, technological developments and evolving models of care
• Visionary leadership with the ability to anticipate future opportunities and challenges, inspire innovation and shape long-term organisational sustainability.
• Strong understanding of governance, fiduciary responsibilities, risk management and organisational performance.
• Experience contributing to the development and oversight of organisational strategy.
• Experience leading or supporting organisations through change, growth or transformation.
• Ability to build effective relationships with Chief Executives and senior leaders, providing both support and constructive challenge.
• Outstanding communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A track record as an ambassador, advocate and relationship-builder.

Appointment Process While this recruitment process is being undertaken with the intention of identifying Dorothy House's next Chair, appointment as Chair cannot take place until the individual has first been appointed as a Trustee. Subject to the Board's decision and the provisions of the Articles of Association, appointment as Chair may take place immediately following appointment as a Trustee.

Are you passionate about gardens and community engagement? We’re looking for an enthusiastic Assistant County Organiser to support activities in Greenwich, Blackheath and surrounding areas. The role is to support the County Organiser in managing the volunteer County Team and work as part of the team. Support the Garden Owners of the National Garden Scheme who open gardens for charity. 

Reports to: County Organiser.

Location:  Home based but with travel to gardens and other events/meetings.

Core activities:

 Manage garden openings, proceeds, insurance and Health and Safety.

 Identify and secure new gardens and ensure that existing gardens continue to reach the required standard.

 Implement new policies as agreed by the Board at local level.

 Refer all complaints to the County Organiser for discussion and resolution.

 Attend National, County and Regional Meetings and other events as requested. 

 Support designated Garden Owners by maintaining contact prior to their open day and follow up.

 Attend garden open days, wherever possible, to support the Garden Owner.

Skills:

 People skills - dealing with a wide range of people.

 Proven organisational skills with good attention to detail.

 Ability to prioritise and to work under pressure at times.

 Pro-active thinker to suggest ideas to improve systems.

 Basic ICT skills and email access required.

The Business Development Lead will work closely with the CEO and Business Development Trustee to build a sustainable pipeline of corporate partners.

The role will focus on developing relationships that can generate:

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a targeted pipeline of banks, asset managers, insurers, fintech companies and other financial-services organisations.
• Identify relevant CSR, ESG, social-impact, community-investment and employee-engagement opportunities.
• Research decision-makers and identify the strongest routes into prospective partners.
• Develop tailored corporate partnership propositions.
• Secure introductory meetings and manage follow-up.
• Work with the CEO and Trustee to prepare pitches, proposals and presentations.
• Build sponsorship propositions around:

  • and wider organisational growth.
• Develop corporate volunteer-mentor opportunities that are attractive and practical for financial-sector employees.

• Support stewardship and renewal of existing corporate partners.

Person specification

We are looking for someone who ideally has:

• experience in business development, partnerships, fundraising, CSR or corporate engagement;
• strong knowledge of banking, financial services or professional services;
• existing corporate networks or confidence building relationships with senior decision-makers;
• experience developing and progressing a sales or fundraising pipeline;
• excellent written and verbal communication;
• strong presentation and relationship-management skills;
• confidence making direct approaches and asking for meetings, introductions and support;
• ability to work independently with limited monthly time;
• a commercial mindset combined with an understanding of charitable impact.

Experience working directly within banking or financial services would be particularly valuable.

Success measures

Success would be assessed through:

• quality and value of the corporate pipeline;
• number of qualified corporate meetings;
• new corporate sponsorship secured;
• existing partnerships renewed or expanded;
• number of volunteer mentors sourced through corporate partners;

SolidariTee is an international charity run and led entirely by volunteers who are students and young people. We're working to make lasting change in the way refugees and other people forced to flee persecution and violence are treated, through a combination of awareness-raising, advocacy, and fundraising to support grassroots NGOs providing vital refugee legal aid and mental health support.

Our Central Team includes students and other young people from around the UK and works together to coordinate SolidariTee’s core functions and organise opportunities to bring our volunteers and supporters together. Our Leadership Team provides overall coordination and oversight to the activities of our Central Team and Regional Teams, and it is a great opportunity to be involved with leading the direction of the SolidariTee movement on a national level.

Your role is to support the Corporate Relations Manager at the Baytree Centre in developing and maintaining corporate partnerships. This includes conducting prospect research, assisting with engagement activities, and supporting the delivery of corporate volunteering days to ensure companies remain connected to Baytree’s mission and values.

Main responsibilities:

- Conduct detailed research to identify and analyse potential corporate partners aligned with Baytree’s mission.

- Create and maintain a structured database of prospects, including relevant company data and key contacts.

- Prepare comprehensive prospect profiles with information on CSR initiatives, sponsorship activities, and charitable giving.

- Support the planning and coordination of corporate volunteering days, including logistics, preparation of materials, and communication with partners.

- Monitor industry trends to identify new corporate partnership opportunities.

- Assist with any tasks set by the Corporate Relations Manager to support corporate engagement efforts.

- Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Baytree Centre.

- Complete volunteer questionnaires and evaluations as required.

- Adhere to Baytree Centre policies and safeguarding procedures.

- Work directly with clients across Baytree services (e.g. youth clubs, workshops, reception, and befriending activities).
