Guild Care is seeking to welcome a new Trustee with experience in financial auditing to our Board.

Established in 1933, Guild Care has been supporting local people and their families for over 90 years. Our vision is for all people in need of care to live fulfilling, safe, and secure lives.

Each year, we support more than 3,000 people and their families through our diverse range of community services and three care homes. From tackling social isolation and supporting people living with dementia, to providing vital services for older people and those with learning disabilities, our work helps people feel connected, valued, and accepted for who they are.

A Trustee of Guild Care has a responsibility to ensure that the organisation applies its resources exclusively in the pursuit of the objectives of the charity.

As part of that responsibility a Trustee needs to actively contribute to the work of the Board by helping set the strategic direction and overall policy, monitoring organisational performance, and supporting organisational development.

The Board of Trustees are also responsible for providing challenges and scrutiny of the senior management team in a positive and supportive environment. 

Trustee with social care experience

Style Acre is a dynamic and creative charity supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism across Oxfordshire.

We are looking for a committed and motivated individual with social care experience and who is aligned to our vision to create communities where people with learning disabilities and autism are valued as equals and to our values of caring, respect, honesty, ambition, and collaboration.

The role of a Trustee is unpaid and voluntary. We expect all Trustees to actively contribute to the work of the Board, using their skills and experience to give strategic direction, evaluate performance, and ensuring the charity is run efficiently and effectively. This post requires the applicant to have a good understanding of the social care sector and the challenges it faces, preferably with hands-on experience in the sector.

Trustees are expected to:-

• attend up to 4 Board meetings per year and an annual awayday. Meetings are usually held on a Thursday 1-5pm. In addition, there is  a finance & audit committee which also meets quarterly.
• contribute advice and support on an ad hoc basis.
• attend events and promote the work of the charity.
• visit services regularly but as a minimum on a quarterly basis. 

All travel and out-of-pocket expenses will be re-imbursed if required.  Applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.

Trustees of Style Acre play an important role in setting the strategy, culture, and vison of the charity, supporting the management team to deliver high quality support,  and ensuring the people we support are living their best lives at the heart of their local community. The charity has around 100 branches, all run by volunteers, who provide local support to autistic people and their families. Every branch is different and so are the activities they provide

This branch is looking for additional volunteers to help them carry out their branch activities.

What you will be doing

• There are several opportunities available to you at the branch, depending on your skills and how much time you are willing to offer. You could:
• Ensuring that the branch is a safe place for children and vulnerable adults and is complying with NAS policies
• Organising branch fundraising activities
• Writing a newsletter for the branch members
• Organising group outings and activities for branch members
• Be responsible for the campaigning the branch does
• Organising PR for the branch including running a website
• Be responsible for the refreshments at events

The Branch Secretary role is important to the running of the branch as they act as a coordinator and communicator for the branch. Without these roles, we would not have as many branches as we do.

What you will be doing

• Liaising with the Branch Chair to monitor the branch email.
• Checking through e-bulletins and newsletters received.
• Circulating information of interest to the mailing list and working with the Chair to ensure this information is put on the website and/or newsletter
• Taking and writing committee meeting minutes.

Surrey Coalition of Disabled People is looking to recruit new trustees to join our Board and help shape the future of our organisation.

We are a Disabled People's Organisation, led by and for Disabled people. We work to remove barriers, influence change and ensure Disabled people across Surrey have a strong voice in the services and decisions that affect their lives.

Our groups provide valuable opportunities for people to socialise, build confidence and enjoy a range of activities, including seated exercise, quizzes, guest speakers and other social and creative activities.

As an Activity Volunteer, you will help create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable, supported and able to get involved.

What You'll Do

• Welcome and support people attending our groups and activities.
• Encourage social interaction and help attendees make connections.
• Provide sighted guidance when required.
• Support staff in welcoming new attendees and helping groups to grow.

• Serve customers on the till in a warm and friendly way.
• Put sales through the till, packing them and thanking the customer for shopping with us.
• Talk to customers about Gift Aid and other fundraising initiatives.

We are looking for a friendly volunteer to help the people we support to get the most out of their garden! 

 
Activities will include: 

• Taking care of our garden to make it an enjoyable space for everyone

• Garden maintenance that includes – weeding, pruning, mowing, planting

• Building friendships with the people we support who may like to watch

• Helping with ideas and suggestions for the garden 

We're looking for volunteers who are: 

• Comfortable in the Garden, with good gardening skills and knowledge 

• Reliable/dependable 

• Comfortable chatting with people with learning disabilities and autism

ECL exists to enhance the lives of people with learning disabilities and/or autism. Through our activities at local community centres, we help our members have fun, make friends, learn new skills and be themselves. ECL has been successfully running for over 30 years and in that time has provided a valued service to the borough of Elmbridge. We are currently looking for a Company Secretary to sit on the Charity’s Board and support the organisation’s future success.   

Support groups are essential for parents and families seeking support. They provide an opportunity for families to meet others who are also living with a family member who has autism, they provide a safe environment for people with autism and their families to attend and meet and they offer an opportunity for families and individuals to share their own experience and listen to others.

What you will be doing

• Ensuring members are informed when there are support groups meetings coming up (via official branch NAS e-mail, social media or text, for example).
• Advertising the support group (posters, leaflets, etc.)
• Attending the weekly support group sessions.
• Sharing information (full training will be given).
• Signposting to other support, professionals, organisations etc.
• Welcoming new members.
• Liaising with other volunteers to ensure there is a volunteer present for the duration of the meeting.
• Accompanying group members in local outings.

You will receive training on serving our customers on the till, taking payments and making Gift Aid donations. This makes a real difference to our income and the number of disabled people we can support.

Your role may include:

• using the till and cash handling
• welcoming and supporting customers
• helping to display stock and window dressing
• preparing goods for sale
• tidying and cleaning the shop

When and where

You will be based at our Scope shop at 90 Warwick Street, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, CV32 4QG. We are flexible on the times you would like to volunteer. We’d love your help for as little as 1 hour a week, but if you can give more time that would help us even more.
