Cat care volunteers spend time directly with cats, cleaning their pens, feeding, grooming and enriching their play time.

Role Summary: As a Meet and Greet Volunteer, you’ll be the welcoming face of Teesside Hospice, offering warmth and reassurance to patients, families, visitors, and professionals as they arrive. Your presence helps create a friendly and supportive environment, ensuring everyone feels comfortable, cared for, and valued from the moment they step through our doors.
Main Duties:
- Provide a warm, approachable, and respectful welcome to all visitors, patients, and families.
- Offer guidance and directions within the hospice (e.g., sign-in procedures, waiting areas, or key contacts).
- Support visitors in signing in and out, following hospice procedures to ensure safety and confidentiality.
- Notify relevant staff members promptly when visitors or deliveries arrive.
- Offer refreshments to patients, families, and visitors where appropriate.
- Keep the reception area clean, tidy, and welcoming at all times.
- Respond politely to enquiries, signposting to the correct person or department as needed.
- Answer telephone calls courteously, taking messages for the nursing team when required.
- Always uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and compassion.
- Attend training sessions and supervision as required to support your role.
- Check in with senior nurse on duty before and after volunteer session
- Inform line manager if unable to attend a volunteer session as soon as possible
Training requirements:
As a Meet & Greet Volunteer you will complete the following training:
- Teesside Hospice mandatory training
- Volunteer induction training
- Any other training identified as appropriate to the role
Support and supervision:
Your first line of support and for any enquiries will be Line Manager to support you in your role.
Ongoing support and supervision are available to ensure volunteers feel confident and valued in their role.
Communications:
The line manager will regularly provide you with any information updates, training opportunities and upcoming events appropriate to your role.

We are looking for a trustee who has personal experience of the care system as a looked- after child or care-experienced young person. We need someone who has made it to and through university so that they can help us fully understand the challenges and issues that can occur.
We are looking for someone who cares about and wants to help young people who are in the care system to make it to and through university. This is not about helping individual youngsters personally. We are building and funding programmes to enable others to help them more effectively.
You need to be willing to be a trustee. This involves preparing for meetings by reading the papers, speaking up in meetings and sharing your opinions and experience, working with others on the board and with our education partners to develop ways we can fulfil our goal of increasing the number of care-experienced young people who successfully complete a degree and find work.
You need to be able to meet the time commitment which is to attend our (virtual) trustee meetings. These are held on a Wednesday afternoon once a quarter – the dates are published well in advance. We also get together, in person, for up to a full day once a year – again usually on a Wednesday. You will need to prepare for meetings and there may be the occasional other tasks so we recommend thinking of a time commitment of 2 -3 hours a month.
Previous experience as a charity trustee is highly desirable, but not essential, as you will have a full explanation of the duties and responsibilities of trustees during your induction.

About Shared Lives South WestShared Lives South West recruits, trains and supports individuals and families (Shared Lives Carers) who can offer accommodation and care for adults with care and support needs in their home, enabling the person to share in family life and maintain their independence. This is known as Shared Lives.If I join Shared Lives South West as a trustee what can I expect? You will be joining an enthusiastic and committed team of trustees. What difference will you make?
Trustees have independent control and legal responsibility for the charity’s management and administration. They support the strategic development and success of SLSW through ensuring good strategic planning, effective governance and the monitoring of the performance of the organisation.As a trustee, you will work alongside the chair, vice chair and other trustees to bring good governance and strategic oversight. - Time Commitment

Havens Hospices provides specialist care and support for people of all ages living with incurable conditions, along with their families. We work closely with each person and their healthcare professionals to ensure care is tailored to their needs, helping them make the most of life and make every day count.
Our specialist care teams provide support to individuals and their families throughout illness, death and bereavement, either at home or through our hospice services—Little Havens for babies, children and young people across Essex, and Fair Havens for adults in Southend-on-Sea, Rochford and Castle Point.

About the roles
- Finance Trustee
As Finance Trustee, you’ll play an important role in ensuring Havens Hospices remains financially resilient and well-positioned to deliver its mission, providing specialist care and support for children, young people, and adults living with complex or incurable conditions.
You don’t need to have been a Trustee before; what matters most is your enthusiasm for numbers and an analytical mindset. You’ll help oversee the charity’s financial health, ensuring good governance, compliance, and the effective use of resources to achieve our strategic ambitions. Working alongside the Treasurer, Board and Executive Team, you’ll bring curiosity, sound judgement and a willingness to explore new ideas as part of a collaborative and supportive board.

- Treasurer
Our new Treasurer will play a central role in guiding the financial strategy of Havens Hospices, ensuring we remain on a secure and sustainable footing for the future.
We’re open to candidates from a range of sectors, including those who may be taking on a Treasurer role for the first time. What’s most important is that you bring strategic thinking, sound financial judgement, and the confidence to both challenge and support the Director of Finance and fellow Board members. You’ll chair the Finance & Investment Committee, oversee financial performance, review reports and budgets, and contribute to shaping long-term plans.
Ideally, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), with senior-level experience in finance, audit or accountancy, and a values-led approach. You’ll be risk-aware, thoughtful, and committed to ensuring that every pound raised is used effectively to deliver outstanding care and secure the long-term sustainability of our hospices.
For both roles, we are searching for candidates with enquiring minds who are flexible and open to learning and exploring new ideas. You will bring substantial experience in collaborative working and bring your personal and professional expertise to support us in making sound strategic decisions.
Time commitment: approximately 1 to 2 days a month for both.

About the Role
We’re looking for two National Clinical Officers (Paramedicine & AHPs) to join our National Clinical Team.
These key volunteer leadership roles will provide strategic clinical leadership, management, and expert advice to ensure our clinical services remain safe, compliant, and of the highest quality.
Working closely with the National Clinical Lead (Paramedicine & AHPs) and the wider National Clinical Team, you’ll help shape the direction of Paramedicine and Allied Health Professional practice across St John Ambulance Cymru.
Key Responsibilities

Lead on the development and implementation of national clinical strategies.

Support the recruitment, development, and engagement of Paramedics, Associate Ambulance Practitioners, and AHPs within the organisation.

Provide expert advice on clinical governance, regulatory standards, and medicines management.

Collaborate with colleagues across Wales to share best practice and deliver quality improvement initiatives.

Represent St John Ambulance Cymru on relevant committees, forums, and professional networks.

Support and mentor volunteers and healthcare professionals to maintain excellence in practice.

About You
You'll be registrated on the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) with at least three years’ clinical experience. You bring energy, integrity, and strong leadership skills, and you’re comfortable influencing and collaborating at all levels.
You understand the opportunities and challenges of working within a volunteer-led organisation, and you’re committed to upholding our core values: Compassion, Quality, Inclusion, and Integrity.

Valid First Aid and Group B Safeguarding qualifications - gaining this can be supported

Commitment
Approx. 25 hours per month
Initial three-year term, with the option to extend for a further three years.
