The difference you will make to cats and people

Our centres and branches take excellent care of cats and kittens that need help, but life in a rescue environment is not ideal for any cat compared to a loving home. Until we can find them that loving home our cat care volunteers are a passionate, committed team, helping to give cats and kittens the best possible care. Cat care volunteers spend time directly with cats, cleaning their pens, feeding, grooming and enriching their play time.

What we need from you

Time expectation

Cat care volunteers usually spend 2 to 3 hours a week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Are you a great listener who enjoys connecting with others? Could you spare a little time to brighten someone’s day?

We’re looking for caring, compassionate people to join our Norfolk Befriending Service. You’ll be supporting unpaid carers - people who look after loved ones and may feel isolated or overwhelmed.

Just an hour or two of your time can help someone feel seen, supported, and less alone. Whether it’s a chat over tea, a walk in the park, or a friendly game, your presence can make all the difference.

Care Rights UK is entering an exciting phase of growth and is seeking to diversify and expand its reach across the UK. To support this next chapter, the organisation is looking to appoint a new trustee to join its established and welcoming Board of Trustees.

The Board plays a vital role in the strategic oversight of the charity, working alongside a small but dedicated staff team led by an experienced CEO. Campus Cares

Campus Cares is building a movement to improve the mental well-being of Nigerian university students, where suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people and nearly one in five shows signs of anxiety or depression. Barriers like stigma, underfunded campus counseling, and economic hardship prevent most from seeking help. 

Campus Cares tackles these challenges through a youth-centered model that combines peer-led workshops, free counseling, and digital outreach. Student “Mental Health Ambassadors” lead stigma-breaking sessions, while licensed therapists provide confidential drop-in counseling and tele-health support. Digital campaigns and resource toolkits extend impact to thousands more students. During exams, stress-management programs create safe spaces for coping and connection. 

By integrating awareness, access, and advocacy, Campus Cares ensures no student suffers in silence—building a culture where mental wellness is a right, not a privilege, and driving systemic change aligned with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.

Graphic Designer

• Design engaging visual content for social media campaigns, toolkits, and reports on mental health awareness.
• Create infographics that simplify complex mental health information for young people.
• Support branding for events, workshops, and our digital mental health hub.

Fundraising & Partnerships Associate

- Identify grant opportunities, corporate sponsors, and donor prospects aligned with youth mental health. - Develop creative fundraising campaigns (online & offline) to sustain Campus Cares programs. - Build and manage partnerships with organizations and stakeholders to expand reach and credibility.

As a County Quality Assurance Lead, you will be part of the establishment of a County St John Council to oversee and guide volunteer Community Networks aims to create a structured and supportive framework that empowers volunteers to operate more effectively and efficiently. By providing strategic leadership, coordination, and oversight, the council ensures that volunteer efforts align with community needs and priorities while avoiding duplication of services.

St John has embarked on a journey to achieve the goal of ensuring that every community and young person across the country is first aid confident.

We are looking for a leader with a passion for local volunteering and helping communities to inspire and support volunteers on this journey across your county

The post will also interact with relevant Communities of Practice to share learning, advice and best practice.

About The Role

At Washington you will be involved first hand are in assisting the collection team in  maintaining and developing exhibits within the site at Washington to enhance the visitor experience.

This involves helping the Collection team to care for our large collection of rare and endangered species of waterfowl from around the world as well as wetland mammals.

Conducting public talks with our otters and Flamingos is also an important part of the role. Helping the team to inspire our visitors by the work we do and also showing them how they can get involved.

Why volunteer with us? We have one of the largest waterfowl collections in the North East, with over 40 species, 15 of which are of Conservation Concern, including the current flock of 56 breeding Chilean Flamingos and a pair of Asian Short-clawed Otters. Previous volunteers have gone on to work in animal conservation work around the world. 

We are currently looking for volunteers that can help us on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays or Sundays. We ask that you can commit a minimum of 6 months to get the most from your role. You must be over 18 to apply for this role.

About The Role

By caring for amphibians and supporting the Toad Hall exhibit, this role plays a vital part in conservation education and biodiversity protection. Volunteers help raise awareness of wetland species and the threats they face by engaging the public through interactive presentations, inspiring visitors to value and support wetland conservation.

What will you be doing:

• General animal husbandry such as feeding, water changes, and exhibit maintenance.
• Data recording for life support systems.
• General maintenance of public and back of house areas
• Helping with new projects and stock management.
• Conducting interactive presentations to engage the general public in the work of WWT, the amphibians in the Toad Hall exhibit, and wider conservation messages (training provided)
• Research and observations recording
• Adhering to all bio-security and hygiene protocols across the Living Collections

About You

Who are we looking for?

There are two parts to this role: assisting with daily animal management duties in the Living Collections department and engaging our visitors on the amphibians and the work of Living Collection. Both aspects are equally important, and so we are looking for volunteers with the following:

• Basic animal husbandry knowledge, with a particular interest in amphibians would be advantageous
• Excellent customer service skills; confidence and enthusiasm when engaging the public
• Good physical health – this role will involve some manual handling
• Good attention to detail and able to follow instructions
• The ability to work on your own initiative under the direction of the Ectotherm team, following strict animal care protocols.

 The role would be enjoyable for those who love working closely with animals, educating others, and gaining hands-on experience in an internationally important wetland site.

Inpatient unit Volunteers provide support to the kitchen staff by delivering meals and snacks to patients, collecting used crockery from patient rooms and washing up all staff & patient crockery and cutlery.  Volunteers in this role also provide a warm welcome to visitors when required. This allows catering staff to concentrate on food preparation, and nursing staff to concentrate on patient care. 

Full training provided. An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.

IPU Volunteer

Volunteer Carer Opportunity – Jumbulance Ski Trip to Niederau, Austria
23rd January – 1st February 2026

We’re looking for volunteer carers to join us on our annual ski trip to the beautiful resort of Niederau, Austria. This is a unique chance to support others while enjoying an unforgettable ski holiday in the Alps. No prior care experience? That’s fine, we provide full training. Could this trip be your first step toward gaining valuable experience in the health and care sector?

What we provide:

• Travel on board The Jumbulance, accommodation, breakfasts, and dinners

• Ski equipment and lift pass

• The chance to ski or enjoy the hotel’s spa and local activities

• Free DBS Certificate, initial training in care, safeguarding and manual handling 

Your role will include:

• Reporting to the Care Lead for the trip, who will be on hand to provide guidance and support when needed

• Supporting a passenger with their morning and evening routines - personal care such as washing, dressing, and using the toilet

• Medication support where required

• Helping with mealtimes as needed

• Providing support in the spa if required and when safe to do so

• Sharing the support, each volunteer has either the morning or afternoon off each day, giving you regular time to ski, relax at the hotel spa, or explore the resort

• Joining in with group activities in the evenings, which often include games or a drink at the bar

Experience and training:

• Previous care experience is preferred but not essential

• We’ll provide training before the trip so you feel confident in your role

• Most important is a caring attitude, teamwork, and willingness to get involved

Fundraising:
To help make these life-changing trips possible, all volunteers are expected to fundraise £500 towards the cost of their place. We’ll give you tips and support to reach your target. 

This role is perfect for someone with a caring nature who’d enjoy combining meaningful support with time to ski and share in a truly special adventure. You’ll be part of a supportive volunteer team making the trip possible for our passengers, while also having time to enjoy the slopes, the spa, and the group’s activities.

What is the purpose of this role?

The Sybil Levin Day Service is a specialist SPECAL-Led day service supporting people with dementia and their carers using the SPECAL method.

What activities might you be involved in?

• Assisting centre attendees to engage in activities.
• Serving meals and drinks.
• Helping to set up and clear away activities.
• Engaging in conversation with centre attendees.
• Volunteering in line with the Charity’s policies and procedures and adhering to the Volunteer Code of Conduct

What are we looking for?

• People with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of people with dementia.
• A friendly, sensitive and kind approach.
• Being comfortable in small groups or on a one to one basis.
• People with a commitment to using the SPECAL method at all times whilst at the centre.

When would you be needed to volunteer?

The centre is open from Monday to Friday and would like volunteers to commit to a morning or afternoon at least once a week as a minimum.

What training will you be given?

You will be given all the training you need to enable you to carry out your role.  This will include a thorough Charity induction and a departmental induction to provide further information about the role.  You will also be given access to our online training library to complete the training modules that are mandatory for your role.

You will receive SPECAL training prior to commencing your role.

About the role

We are seeking applications from suitably qualified individuals to become members of the Finance Sub-Committee of our Board of Trustees. As a member of this group, you will offer strategic financial advice to our Board of Trustees and to our Provincial Team - the canonical leadership team of our province of Central Europe and the Islands. The work will include advising on all aspects of the Society’s finances including our properties and investments. This is a new committee reflecting our desire to improve our financial governance.

The Committee will oversee the work of our existing investments committee and a financial advisory group.

Commitment

After an initial induction day, we anticipate that the group will meet three times each year for a two-hour period. Meetings will be a mixture of online and face to face meetings in Hammersmith, London.

This is a voluntary position. We will pay all reasonable expenses including travel and refreshments at meetings.

Term Length

We are seeking an initial commitment of 3 years.

We are looking for experienced Board or Committee members with a background and expertise in finance, property, risk or audit at a senior level.

As a member of our Finance Committee, you will help the Society in England and Wales to ensure that we have effective financial governance arrangements and will help to monitor our financial performance.

We invite scrutiny and challenge of our financial affairs and sound advice to our trustees and leadership team.

We expect that applicants will respect the Catholic beliefs and ethos of the Society.

Skills and Expertise

We are seeking to recruit individuals with a wide range of skills and experience

• Relevant financial or property management qualifications e.g. accountancy qualification

• Experience of service on a finance committee or Board of Trustees

• Knowledge of Charity law and accounting practice

• Experience at a senior level of financial management, scrutiny and planning

• An understanding of investments and management of an investment portfolio

• An understanding of organisational risk and risk management

• Understanding of audit practice within charities

• An ability to understand budgets and to review audited accounts

• A collaborative approach and a supportive nature.
