Charity Shop Assistant

Deptford Mission is a registered charity which aims to reduce social isolation in elderly disabled people. The object of the charity is to offer friendship, support and a sense of community to those who would otherwise be socially isolated by their personal circumstances. Our service is unique in its offering of door-to-door transport to vulnerable adults to attend our center.

Our charity is largely volunteer driven with a community of 45 to 50 active volunteers and has been existence for nearly 100 years.

About the Well Charity Shop

Our charity shop sells donated kitchenware, men’s and women’s clothing, vintage items, unique books, albums, and children’s toys and clothing.

Beloved Neighborhood Hub

Our Charity Shop serves an endearing role as a loveable neighborhood outlet and community crossroads, animated by a classical music radio station and visited by local customers who enjoy regularly stopping in to chat with our shop manager and shop volunteers.

Our Charity Shop is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10:00am to 4:00pm. 

Student Placements

We host student placements for secondary school, college, and university students seeking work experience in areas such as adult social care, hospitality, and charity operations.

As a person-centered organization, developing self-confidence is at the heart of what we do. Our methods involve providing hands-on guidance and coaching for students to develop competencies in areas such as customer service, relating with older people, public speaking, and cash-handling procedures.
