About Can Do 

Can Do is working to create a world where people’s voices, experiences and needs are heard, visible and valued. 

We are a start-up using digital technology to create social change. We work across addiction, mental health, homelessness, poverty and justice to help people access and navigate support. We are small, practical, and focused on building something that works for people facing disadvantage. 

We’re building something where your skills and talent can have a practical direct impact, helping people help themselves, while ensuring their experiences are heard and understood.

Skills 

If you have some or all of these skills, we want to hear from you! 

• Social media & content creation – creating engaging content and managing social media platforms  

• Digital & technical skills – troubleshooting, problem-solving and confidence working with technology and AI tools  

• Legal research – researching legal questions, interpreting information and communicating findings clearly  

• Research & analysis – finding, assessing and summarising information from a range of sources  

• Funding research – identifying suitable funders and funding opportunities and assessing their relevance  

• Written communication – clear, concise and engaging writing  

• Organisation & attention to detail – managing information, tasks and deadlines effectively  

• Creative problem-solving – taking initiative and finding practical solutions  

• Communication & collaboration – working well with a small, collaborative team and contributing ideas 

Requirements 

• Studied or studying a degree in a relevant field 

• Research experience 

• Strong communication 

• Administrative experience 

Our Process 

1. Apply with a CV and Cover Letter expressing your interest in supporting Can Do’s work and how your skills can help us 

1. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an introductory call with our Founder, Mark Johnson MBE, who will go into more detail on our mission and what we require from interns. This will also be your chance to ask any questions 

1. If you are still interested, you will go through our online onboarding process which will prepare you to get started with us! 

Logistics 

• Length of internship: A minimum of 3 months commitment 

• Days per week: We can work around your schedule, but require minimum 2 days per week 

• Weekly meeting: Ability to join a check-in meeting once per week
