Job description

HELP US LAUNCH MINDSET — AND CHANGE MEN & BOYS’ LIVES IN LONDON

We’re ideally seeking volunteers from London, but we welcome passionate volunteers from across England who can join meetings virtually and help us build the beating heart of our charity — our volunteer community.

We’re MINDSET Charity, a bold new start‑up in London on a mission to equip and empower men and boys with the tools they need for better mental health, stronger resilience and long‑term personal growth.

We’re creating a stigma‑free movement — a space where men and boys can learn real, practical, non‑clinical skills that help them build better habits, better mindsets and better lives. From 1:1 Life Coaching, to 6‑ and 12‑week self‑improvement programmes, to school workshops for teenage boys, we’re building something powerful.

And right now, we’re getting ready to launch — and we need a Head of Volunteering / Volunteering Programme Lead to build, shape and lead the entire volunteer experience at MINDSET.

YOUR IMPACT WILL BE HUGE

This isn’t just a volunteering role — it’s a leadership role at the very start of a charity with ambition, energy and purpose.

Your work will directly influence:

  • how strong, welcoming and inclusive our volunteer community becomes;

  • how quickly we can launch our programmes;

  • how supported, valued and motivated our volunteers feel;

  • how organised and efficient our teams are;

  • how deeply our culture reflects our mission and values.

You’ll be building the foundations of a volunteer programme that will support men and boys across London for years to come.

THE ROLE: HEAD OF VOLUNTEERING / VOLUNTEERING PROGRAMME LEAD (VOLUNTEER)

  1. The culture‑builder.
  2. The organiser.
  3. The champion of people and purpose.

As our Volunteering Lead, you’ll design, develop and oversee the entire volunteer programme at MINDSET. You’ll lead on recruitment, onboarding, engagement, retention and culture — ensuring every volunteer feels welcomed, supported and part of something meaningful.

You’ll work closely with the Founder and Leadership Team to build a volunteer experience that is friendly, structured, empowering and aligned with our mission.

This role is perfect for someone who loves people, culture, organisation and building strong communities.

WHAT YOU’LL HELP US BUILD

1. Volunteer Programme Design

  • Creating the full structure of our volunteer programme.

  • Designing processes, pathways and systems for recruitment, onboarding and engagement.

  • Building a volunteer experience that is simple, welcoming and impactful.

  • Developing tools, templates and resources volunteers will rely on.

2. Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Leading recruitment campaigns and role descriptions.

  • Managing applications, interviews and selection.

  • Creating warm, friendly onboarding experiences.

  • Designing induction sessions and welcome packs.

3. Volunteer Engagement & Retention

  • Building a positive, inclusive volunteer culture.

  • Creating recognition, appreciation and motivation systems.

  • Supporting volunteers day‑to‑day.

  • Ensuring volunteers feel valued, connected and part of the mission.

4. Team Leadership & Culture

  • Helping shape MINDSET’s organisational culture.

  • Supporting team leads and volunteers across all departments.

  • Bringing energy, empathy and structure to a fast‑moving start‑up.

  • Helping build a community that reflects our values and purpose.

WE’RE NOT JUST LOOKING FOR ANYONE

We’re especially interested in people who:

  • thrive on building something from scratch;

  • love people, culture and community;

  • enjoy organising, structuring and improving systems;

  • bring warmth, clarity and leadership to busy environments;

  • have experience in HR, volunteering, people management or community building (but it’s not essential);

  • care deeply about men’s mental health, wellbeing and personal growth.

If you’re someone who loves building strong, supportive communities — this is your moment.
