Volunteer Kitchen Assistant

Peaceful Place is a specialist dementia charity supporting people to remain active, independent and connected to their community.  We focus on abilities, not limitations, helping every person who attends our day centre continue to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

We are looking for a volunteer to help our chef and kitchen team prepare and cook food for the members attending our day centre.  As a volunteer, you will play a very important role in making the day special for our members.  You will be rewarded by their enthusiasm and chatty, fun nature and be supported in your role by a multi-disciplinary team.

Our kitchen is fully equipped and very open, adjoining the dining area, making it a lovely space to converse with members sitting at the table whilst serving them lunch.

Role Description:

• Aim to arrive at 10am and start to prepare and cook food for lunch
• Help to serve lunch for our members
• Assist in keeping the food service and dining area clean and tidy
• Help to tidy up the dining area once lunch has finished at 1.30pm
• Contribute to keeping our Health & Safety standard rating at excellent

Skills Required:

• The most important skill you will possess is a warm, friendly personality with a caring and patient nature
• You will be able to multi-task without stress
• Have an interest in cooking
• Like to keep a clean and tidy dining area
• Health & Safety or food hygiene certificates are beneficial, but we will provide training

We need help on Wednesdays from 10am until 2.30pm.

We have a friendly and welcoming team here at the Peaceful Place Day Centre and we will support you as a volunteer if you choose to help us.
