Job description

CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHER / FILMMAKER

Volunteer Role – SUNSHINE Charity

Location: London‑based (Tower Hamlets & Inner London preferred)

Commitment: Flexible — typically one or two days (more if you would like to committ)

Salary: Voluntary (with strong creative portfolio opportunities, real‑world charity experience, and the chance to visually define a new London movement)

The Spark: Why We Need You

SUNSHINE is a grassroots London charity on a mission to tackle loneliness through positivity, vibrancy, and human connection. We will run high‑energy pop‑ups across Tower Hamlets and Inner London — neon t‑shirts, bubble machines, positive quote cards, upbeat music, and warm conversation.

We’re building a movement that looks and feels joyful.

Now we need creative storytellers who can help us show that joy to the world.

We are seeking London‑based volunteer photographers and filmmakers who can capture the heart of SUNSHINE — our people, our pop‑ups, our energy — and help us raise awareness of loneliness across the city through powerful, uplifting visuals.

Your work will become the visual identity of SUNSHINE Charity across our website, social media, campaigns, and publicity.

Your Mission: What You’ll Create

1. Photography – Capturing the SUNSHINE Spirit

We’re looking for a photographer who can build a library of images that reflect:

  • Positivity

  • Vibrancy

  • Human connection

  • Joy

  • Colour

  • Warmth

  • London community life

You will:

  • Travel around London to capture moments that reflect connection, sunshine, positivity, human warmth — and, when appropriate, the quiet reality of loneliness.

  • Attend occasional SUNSHINE pop‑ups in Tower Hamlets and Inner London.

  • Capture candid moments of connection, smiles, conversations, and community.

  • Photograph our neon‑bright brand elements (t‑shirts, quote cards, bubble machines).

  • Create portrait‑style shots of volunteers and community members (with consent).

  • Build a curated image library for our website, social media, and campaigns.

Your photography will help London see the movement we’re building.

2. Filmmaking – Telling the Story of SUNSHINE

We’re also seeking a filmmaker who can create:

  • Short clips for social media

  • 10–30 second promos

  • Mini‑documentary style pieces

  • Awareness videos about loneliness

  • Uplifting, energetic brand films

  • Creative storytelling moments from our pop‑ups

You will:

  • Travel around London to film moments that reflect connection, sunshine, positivity, human warmth — and, when appropriate, the quiet reality of loneliness. Also interviewing and filming members of the public.

  • Film at selected SUNSHINE events and activities.

  • Capture interviews, smiles, interactions, and community energy.

  • Edit short, punchy videos that reflect our bright, positive brand.

  • Help us create a visual campaign that raises awareness of loneliness across London.

Your films will help people understand why SUNSHINE matters.

Who You Are (The Perfect Fit)

You don’t need professional studio equipment or a film degree. You need creativity, heart, and a love for visual storytelling.

You are:

  • Creative & Imaginative: You see stories everywhere.

  • Positive & Uplifting: You naturally gravitate toward joyful, human moments.

  • London‑Based: You can attend occasional pop‑ups in Tower Hamlets or nearby.

  • Reliable & Organised: You can deliver edited photos or clips in a timely way.

  • Passionate About People: You care about community, connection, and tackling loneliness.

Whether you’re a student, emerging creative, hobbyist, or experienced professional — if you want to use your talent for good, this role is for you.

Why Create With SUNSHINE?

  • Portfolio Gold: Your work will be featured across our website, campaigns, publicity and social media.

  • Creative Freedom: We encourage experimentation, colour, vibrancy, and bold ideas.

  • Real Impact: Your visuals will help raise awareness of loneliness across London.

  • Flexible & Fun: Join us at pop‑ups when you can; edit from home when it suits you.

  • Be Part of a Movement: You’ll help shape the visual identity of a new London charity.
