SUNSHINE Charity is looking for friendly, creative, and reliable Volunteer Activity Leads to help plan and deliver uplifting community activities that support people experiencing loneliness and social isolation. Working alongside the Project Lead / Project Manager and the Board of Trustees, you will help bring our mission to life through regular, welcoming, and purposeful activities that encourage connection, belonging, and joy.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, has a warm and positive approach, and wants to help create inclusive activities that make a real difference in people’s lives.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Activity Lead, you will take responsibility for leading specific activities, sessions, or events on behalf of SUNSHINE Charity. You will help prepare sessions, welcome participants, support a positive group atmosphere, and ensure activities are delivered safely, smoothly, and in line with the charity’s values.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on, engaging with others, and helping create experiences that are uplifting, inclusive, and community-focused.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead or co-lead agreed activities, sessions, or events.

  • Help plan activities that are welcoming, enjoyable, and suitable for participants.

  • Prepare materials, spaces, or equipment needed for sessions.

  • Welcome and support participants in a friendly and inclusive way.

  • Help create a positive, safe, and encouraging atmosphere.

  • Work with the Project Lead / Project Manager and Trustees to ensure activities are well organised.

  • Support volunteers who may be helping with the activity.

  • Gather feedback and share ideas for improving future sessions.

  • Help ensure activities reflect the charity’s values of warmth, kindness, and connection.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

A friendly, positive, and approachable personality.

  • Confidence in working with groups or supporting activities.

  • Good communication and organisational skills.

  • A creative or practical mindset, depending on the type of activity.

  • Reliability and willingness to take responsibility for a session or event.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.

  • A genuine interest in helping reduce loneliness and build community.

WHAT YOU'LL GET OUT OF IT

  • The chance to make a direct and meaningful difference in people’s lives.
  • Experience in activity planning, group facilitation, and community engagement.

  • The opportunity to contribute to a growing charity with a strong and positive vision.

  • A rewarding role where you help create moments of joy and connection.

TIME COMMITMENT

This is a flexible volunteer role, with approx. 4 hours per week commitment depending on the activity or event being led. We are looking for people who can support activities on a regular or occasional basis, depending on availability.
