Loneliness is one of the most painful and invisible challenges facing people across London. It steals confidence, hope, and connection — and it affects people of every age, background and story.

SUNSHINE Charity is a tiny start‑up with a huge heart. We exist to bring joy, human connection, belonging and ‘sunshine’ into people’s lives. We believe that even the smallest act of kindness can change someone’s world.

We are at the very beginning of our journey. No funding yet. No big team. Just passion, purpose, and a vision to build a charity that lights up London — and later, beyond.

The Role: Executive Director (Volunteer)

This is not a typical leadership role. This is founding a charity. This is building a movement. This is creating hope where it’s needed most.

As our Volunteer Executive Director, you will:

• Shape the charity’s vision, culture and identity from day one.

• Build our first programmes to reduce loneliness and increase belonging.

• Recruit and inspire volunteers who share our mission.

• Forge partnerships across London.

• Lead early fundraising efforts — including the possibility of fundraising for your own future paid role.

• Bring creativity, courage and heart to every decision.

• Help turn a small idea into a city‑wide force for good.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in start‑up environments, loves building from the ground up, and wants to lead with compassion and purpose.

• Deeply passionate about tackling loneliness.

• Excited by the challenge of building a charity with no current funding.

You don’t need previous Executive Director or CEO experience. You just need heart, drive, and the courage to lead something new.
