Programme Coordinator (Digital Inclusion & Skills) – Volunteer Role

SUNSHINE Charity – Ending Loneliness for Londoners and Beyond

Do you believe no one should feel alone?

At SUNSHINE Charity, we’re a grassroots, volunteer‑powered start‑up building something bold, hopeful, and deeply human — a movement to end loneliness for Londoners and, one day, far beyond. We’re at the very beginning of our journey, and what we build now will shape everything that comes next.

To help people feel confident, connected, and included in a digital world, we need someone extraordinary.

We need you!!!

Why This Role Matters

Loneliness is silent, but its impact is loud. And in today’s world, digital exclusion makes that loneliness even deeper. When someone can’t access online services, connect with loved ones, or navigate basic digital tools, they can feel cut off from society.

Our Digital Inclusion & Skills Programme will help people build confidence, independence, and connection — one skill at a time.

As our Programme Coordinator, you will help create safe, supportive learning spaces where people can ask questions without judgement, learn at their own pace, and feel empowered.

Your guidance will help someone feel less alone.

What You’ll Lead

This is not just a role — it’s a chance to build something meaningful from the ground up.

You will:

  • Plan, organise, and coordinate SUNSHINE’s Digital Inclusion & Skills sessions, ensuring they run smoothly and meet real community needs.

  • Support volunteers and digital buddies, helping them feel confident, prepared, and equipped to teach others.

  • Create a welcoming, patient, and encouraging learning environment for participants of all ages and abilities.

  • Develop simple, accessible learning materials, from basic digital skills to online safety and communication tools.

  • Manage logistics, including scheduling, venues, equipment, and participant communication.

  • Track attendance, progress, and feedback, helping us understand impact and continuously improve.

  • Collaborate with the wider team, ensuring the programme aligns with SUNSHINE’s mission and values.

This is a role for someone who believes digital confidence can open doors — and change lives.

Who You Are

You’re someone who:

  • Loves helping people learn, grow, and feel empowered.

  • Believes deeply in kindness, patience, and human connection.

  • Has experience in digital skills, teaching, community engagement, IT support, or people‑focused roles.

  • Thrives in start‑up environments where initiative and creativity matter.

  • Is organised, reliable, and great at communicating with people of all backgrounds.

  • Wants to help build something that will grow long after the first foundations are laid.

Most importantly, you’re someone who wants to help people feel confident and connected in a digital world.

Why Join SUNSHINE?

Because this is your chance to:

  • Shape a programme that helps people gain independence and confidence.

  • Support individuals who feel left behind by technology.

  • Work alongside passionate, hopeful, determined people.

  • Know that your work directly helps end loneliness.

  • Be part of something bigger than all of us.

Your support will help someone send their first email. Your patience will help someone reconnect with family. Your leadership will help someone feel less alone.

We Need You — Now

We are at the beginning of our journey, and digital inclusion will be a lifeline for many. If you’ve ever wanted to use your skills to create real, human connection, this is the moment.

If your heart is saying “yes,” then you have a heart of gold — and we want to hear from you.

How to Apply

Please submit your CV and a short statement about why this role speaks to you. We welcome people from all backgrounds, experiences, and walks of life.

Come help us bring SUNSHINE into the lives of those who need it most.

Together, we can end loneliness.

Together, we can bring the sunshine back.
