Volunteer Opportunity: Programme Coordinator
Help Create Life-Changing Community Programmes Across East London
Location: Hybrid (East London focus)
Time Commitment: Flexible, approximately 4–8 hours per week
Salary: Voluntary Role
Reports To: Founder and CEO
About SUNSHINE Charity
SUNSHINE Charity is a new volunteer-powered community organisation working to reduce loneliness and social isolation by creating welcoming spaces where people can connect, build friendships, and feel part of something bigger.
We believe that no one should feel invisible in their own community.
As we prepare to launch our first community programmes across East London, we are seeking a passionate and organised Programme Coordinator to help turn our vision into reality.
This is a unique opportunity to join SUNSHINE at the very beginning and play a central role in designing and coordinating the activities that will bring people together and help create lasting connections.
The Opportunity
At SUNSHINE, our programmes are the heartbeat of everything we do.
As Programme Coordinator, you will help plan, organise, and coordinate the community activities that bring people together and help combat loneliness.
From weekly connection groups to community events and wellbeing activities, you will help ensure our programmes are welcoming, inclusive, safe, and impactful.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys organising projects, working with people, and making a meaningful difference in their community.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Coordinating SUNSHINE’s community programmes and activities
- Supporting the planning and delivery of weekly connection sessions
- Working with volunteers to ensure programmes run smoothly
- Liaising with venues and community partners
- Helping develop new activities and programme ideas
- Managing programme schedules and calendars
- Supporting participant engagement and feedback collection
- Monitoring attendance and programme outcomes
- Helping ensure activities are inclusive, accessible, and welcoming
- Working closely with trustees and volunteer teams to support growth
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need previous charity experience.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about building stronger communities
- Has strong organisational and planning skills
- Enjoys coordinating projects and activities
- Has excellent communication and people skills
- Is proactive and dependable
- Can work collaboratively with volunteers and partners
- Shares SUNSHINE’s values of kindness, inclusion, and connection
Experience in project coordination, event planning, community development, programme management, education, wellbeing, or volunteering would be helpful but is not essential.
