Job description

VOLUNTEER PROJECT LEAD / PROJECT MANAGER

Help lead SUNSHINE Charity and bring connection, warmth, and community to those who need it most.

SUNSHINE Charity is looking for a dedicated, organised, and motivated Volunteer Project Lead / Project Manager to help oversee the planning and coordination of our start-up grassroots charity. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, you will play a key role in helping shape, guide, and deliver our work to reduce loneliness and social isolation through meaningful, uplifting community-based activities.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to help build something positive from the ground up. You will support the charity’s day-to-day coordination, help keep projects on track, and ensure our activities, volunteers, and plans all work together to deliver real community impact.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Project Lead / Project Manager, you will help manage the overall running of SUNSHINE Charity’s activities and projects. You will work alongside the Trustees to turn ideas into action, support planning and delivery, and help ensure the charity remains organised, effective, and true to its mission.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking initiative, coordinating people and tasks, and helping a small charity grow in a thoughtful and purposeful way.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the Board of Trustees to support the planning and delivery of charity projects and activities.

  • Help coordinate the charity’s day-to-day operations and project timelines.

  • Keep projects organised, on track, and aligned with the charity’s aims.

  • Support volunteer coordination and help ensure volunteers are well briefed and engaged.

  • Help organise meetings, agendas, action points, and follow-up tasks.

  • Monitor progress against agreed plans and flag any issues or needs for support.

  • Support communication between trustees, volunteers, and external partners.

  • Help develop systems, processes, and workflows that improve how the charity operates.

  • Contribute ideas to help SUNSHINE Charity grow in a sustainable and community-focused way.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Strong organisational and planning skills.

  • Confidence in coordinating people, tasks, and deadlines.

  • Good communication and relationship-building skills.

  • A proactive, reliable, and solutions-focused approach.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with Trustees and volunteers.

  • Experience in project management, charity work, community work, or team coordination would be helpful, but is not essential.

  • A genuine commitment to kindness, community, and reducing loneliness.

WHAT YOU'LL GET OUT OF IT

  • The opportunity to help shape and grow a new charity with a meaningful purpose.

  • Experience in charity project leadership and governance support.

  • A chance to work closely with a committed Board of Trustees.

  • Valuable experience in leadership, coordination, and community impact.

  • The satisfaction of helping bring sunshine, connection, and belonging to people’s lives.

TIME COMMITTEMENT

This is a flexible volunteer role, with approx 4 hours per week time commitment. We are particularly looking for someone who can provide steady coordination and help keep things moving forward in a consistent and reliable way.
